Jerry can holder - is this normal?

I bought Wavian gas cans and a mounting system that says “NATO Jerry can compatible” but there’s a lot of extra room. Seems like they’re going to slide around a bunch.
Is this normal? Should I return them and find other ones? Pad them? What products actually fit Wavian cans?

Gap is normal.
If you are concerned about rubbing/ rattle use some rubber matt bits or high density foam to lock the canister in place.

That’s why I asked. Thanks! Seems like I could chase the perfect fit for a long time.

Split some hose and zip it around the holder
SubstantialAbility17@reddit
They will bulge with heat and once you get fuel in them

Wouldn’t this be to account for expansion of the can on hot days?
Uniball38@reddit
That would be an enormous amount of expansion

I found that jerry can holder from amazon is bigger than the standard. It fits the plastic jerry cans ok as they are a little wider.
rocklol88@reddit
does plastic one swell in heat and gets stuck? Or venting it is enough?

seems fine, I am using this for my water supply. I do have a red plastic one on the otehr side and it does suck in and out, but never a problem removing it.

Yup. These are the Amazon ones.

wavian makes racks and baskets for wavian cans, pricey but well made & designed to fit and work.
the Amazon can baskets always rattle. rubber cement inner tube to the inside and it'll help with the noise and scratching.

Slap some self adhesive foam on the can to fill the gaps. Tape the edges so it doesn’t peal

I've found that the top strap locks it down well enough.
