I wonder if CCP bans Linux in China. Is their surveillance apparatus even Linux compatible? lol (kids/people have cameras at their computers to ID and monitor their PC use etc..)

No, not banned. There are even some Chinese distros. Very little demand though.

Good to see growth, but gamers who have their language set to English is not at all representaive of overall desktop marketshare (which you seem to imply).

Linux isn't much of a thing in China. Outside of certain workplace environments and some true hobbyists, it's awfully scarce on desktops. "open source" is a pretty meaningless concept there, and the headaches and/or learning curve of dealing with Linux can be an even bigger turn off than it tends to be in the West. Even with those who manage to get a Steam Deck, it's not at all uncommon to wipe SteamOS completely and install Windows on it. Same with vendors that offer stuff like cheaper laptops with Linux pre-installed.

This is an interesting thought but that’s all it is. Linux market share on desktop is not 11% and your maths is flawed.
It makes the assumption that Linux should be proportionally distributed among languages which has no justification.
The steam deck/no steam deck numbers are fabricated and cancel each other out.
Your maths seems off as well but I can’t really check because the formula in the sheet has been stripped.
Steam users are also skewed demographically and not indicative of the general market share.
What you’ve actually done here is just point out that English speaking users are over represented amongst Linux steam users which is probably true but doesn’t only that the market share is higher.
