Career Recession Bookends

Seems to be coming true. I started my career in television during a recession in 1990 and am ending it during a recession in 2027. Such is life. โ๐ฆ๐บ

If there is a current recession I sure don't see it. The amount of people on the roads and going out to eat all the time hasn't seem to slow down at all around my area. I know the gas prices sure haven't slowed people down speed wise or actually going out.

Likewise. My last day at work is n 36 days. It's a good time to get out of the workforce. I figure that I'm freeing up a job for someone who needs it more.

I started work in 1990, have somehow survived many economic downturns, company slowdowns, layoffs, etc. I'm really ready for a time of life where that's not on my mind anymore, or at least it's not a "daily worry." Working on it!

I was close. I think I only got a job in telecoms when the UK started to come out of the recession, in 1993. I pivoted from software engineer to working for a telco in 1999. And now, I could be forced to choose a different path in 2026.

Congrats!! The course hasnโt been an easy one to run. Coming into the workforce during a recession. Decades of wage stagnation. No upward mobility as our parents clung to their jobs and pensions. Collapse of the world economy in 2008. Into an era of shameless greed that, once again is threatening to uproot millions of peopleโs lives. You did it!! ๐๐๐
