Looking for a semi auto on gunbroker to get my first firearm at 20. Any suggestions, my knowledge is minimal and i’m really getting it for self defense and have a budget of 759.

I always recommend Grand Power Q1 Mk23 for beginners.

Is there a reason you are looking in gun broker? Why not a local store or someplace else online. The reason I ask is because gun broker charges extra fees.

I just don’t know anymore online. and for in person purchases 21 is required

I really dig scrolling through Palmeto State Armory for ideas on firearm purchases over gun broker. They won’t ship everywhere heads up, but they have a pretty good selection of firearms.
Under 800 can get you a lot of firearms. Not sure why people would recommend a handgun for self defense for someone who can’t carry it as why limit yourself to a handgun in the home. Since you’re new gonna recommend a few that are enjoyable to shoot so you can enjoy shooting to get good reps in:
Any of the Ruger PCCs. Ruger PC or LC carbines would be fun range guns as well as a decent way to defend yourself. Pistol caliber so light recoil but still enough “power” to defend yourself.
With this same idea in mind the Henry Homesteader is a great little gun. Still pistol caliber but more traditional if you enjoy that look.
Beretta A300 may be the best long gun you can find under 800 bucks. It’s a shotgun, so lower capacity and will take more training but no one will argue the usefulness of a 12 gauge. May need to wait for a sale, but definitely worth a pick up.
If you get lucky with a well priced Ruger mini 14 or a used one, I’d snatch it up. Semi auto 556 that is a proven platform. More traditional than an AR but a great gun. You may see some people complain about accuracy due to the thinner barrels especially on older ones, but for home defense distances perfectly fine.

Depending what state you live in, you cant purchase a pistol from GunBroker if you are under 21. You have to use a FFL for online sales like gunbroker or grabagun. You'll still need a purchase permit for private sales through you local police department in the states where that is legal.

When you say self defense do you mean in your home or are you planning to carry? If in the home I’d look at shotguns, if you are looking to carry the obvious pistols, probably something in the compact to sub-compact size.
And the best advice is always go to a local gun store and talk to their salesmen. Those people are very knowledgeable about it and will help steer you in the right direction for whatever you are looking for.
Also once you have a few in mind find a range that has rentals and shoot anything you are considering before you buy.

RXM. Save the money for an optic or ammo.

Sounds like you need to narrow down what you want and what your use case is.

AR if you can find one that low. You might be able to find a semi automatic shotgun for that.
Or wait a year and get a CZ P10
