I was looking to buy a remade version of it the other day. But it was really expensive for some inexplicable reason.

Lol they actually remade it a while back on steam. Played it once through and just like the original, I haven't touched it again.

I found a mobile app that is just an emulator playing the original in an emulator.
There is another mobile app that is nothing like the original and is just micro transaction bullshit.

If you are of a certain age (like me) you probably grew up playing Oregon Trail on the Apple II in school and have a certain nostalgia for it. I was surprised to find no one made an open-source clone of it. There are some games loosely inspired by Oregon Trail (like The Organ Trail in a zombie apocalypse). I started to make a game that was somehow largely faithful to the original game with more features, more depth and tons of jokes.
The past few weeks have been a blur for me and stepped away from working on the game. The game is mostly complete. I was considering adding more features, more resource management (hygiene system, different animals can pull your wagon, etc). The game probably has typos and bugs. It isn't balanced. Some parts may be too easy or too hard. Certain systems can probably be exploited.
But you should be able to complete an entire trail. There are 5 trails (Oregon, Mormon, California, Salt Like City, Bozeman) that each end in a different mini-game. There are tombstones, random events, tons of easter eggs, way too many jokes, difficulty modes, cheats, achievements and a leaderboard. You can play the game in Nostalgia mode. The game changes significantly if you go insane. If you pick "Gamer" as a profession, expect 4th-wall breaking text all over the game.
Please consider testing the game out and giving me some feedback. Where are the bugs and typos? What portions need balance? Would you want to see more depth in the resource management or should it remain a light-game focused on jokes and nostalgia?
Note I have no intention to ever sell this nor put an ads on it. My games are all designed to be 100% free.
