ULPT Request: selling an item online to someone trying to flip my item?
Posted by VeterinarianNorth795@reddit | UnethicalLifeProTips | View on Reddit | 51 comments
Context: I put a fitness watch onto a selling platform, the next day I saw someone post my same photos - higher price on a different platform, so I swiped on it and said I was interested, within a hour the same guy on my post said he would buy it from me. Should I sell it to him and just not buy his? Or is that really messed up?
RaisedSteaks@reddit
Make sure to over offer as the buyer so he wants it more and overpass for your sale. Seem eager to get it quickly for a premium.
InfoSecPeezy@reddit
Brilliant! OP should be DESPERATE to get this device! Asking how it is shipped, how long until it is received, love the condition, color, how this is going to change your life. Then as soon as you sell it, ghost them.
xavierspapa@reddit
*as soon as it ships
pm_me_flaccid_cocks@reddit
Ask a very specific question about it that applies to the one you have. Like, “is the last number of the serial number a 3” or “is the left pinky painted yellow” or whatever. It doesn’t have to be that unique, just very specific. When the answer comes back “yes” then you gush about how you’ve been looking for that forever and you’ll pay double what he’s asking if he has it in hand. You need proof he has it because you’ve been lied to before and got the wrong thing. Etc.
OtherwiseAlbatross14@reddit
Yeah do something like that if you want to blow the deal like an idiot
This-Positive286@reddit
Exactly. At what point are you painting it on to thick?!
Soft_Refuse_4422@reddit
If he doesn’t bite, bump up your price as a seller, then as a buyer say you found it for cheaper on [the original site] for [your new selling price]
askalgore@reddit
What platforms were involved in this?
kawaiian@reddit
Offer a large price for it same day cash but ask for different photos of it to make sure it’s not AI
Jack yours up 40%
OkBrilliant8092@reddit
Ladies and gentlemen, meet Satan… this has got to be the winner
FunAtMoheganSun@reddit
The posing has me rolling.
NightIgnite@reddit
As seller, say you'll give it to him for half price if he can pay with cash the next day. Hopefully be cancels plans for increased profit margin. Then as the buyer, message that you're willing to pay full price and want to know how soon you can meet. Ideally, you want sell/buy time to be a few hours away from each other.
As seller, agree to meet in parking lot. Keep delaying your arrival, and hopefully the reduced price keeps him willing to wait. Then as buyer, periodically ask if the time a few hours later still works and update with your location statusnto location #2. When he eventually fails to show up at scheduled time, still waiting for you as seller, keep asking him how much longer he will be.
Waste his time and enduce as much stress as you can. Never actually sell
Forward-Surprise1192@reddit
It’s not that deep and I hope someone wastes your time next time you buy an item. The guy tried to flip an item. this is literally how business works and it’s so much more rude than it needs to be
Jay_the_casual@reddit
Wrong subreddit homie. That sounds like an attempt to be ETHICAL.
Forward-Surprise1192@reddit
Damn you’re right I apologise. How could I not see that? I was wrong. After you waste his time pretending, finally go to his location to buy the watch. Instead of buying the watch, you hit him a few times in the nose and then take the watch and any money he has. Now you can leave or go further but I’ll leave it at that for now. I don’t want to go past unethical and go all the way to evil you know
MjrGrangerDanger@reddit
Um isn't this where you add in a piss disc, fart spray or fuck their dad, mom, or significant other?
Forward-Surprise1192@reddit
What’s stopping us from doing all 5?
MjrGrangerDanger@reddit
So many options in life.
Jay_the_casual@reddit
Now we are talking! LOL
NightIgnite@reddit
When I sell am item for less than MSRP, the intent is to pass the savings onto another human being, not a capitalist. Anyone trying to game generosity can go fuck themselves
Forward-Surprise1192@reddit
I saw already I’m on the wrong sub lol and made my recommendation if you didn’t see. In that case I agree with you but we have to go a step further remember? This is unethical tips not generosity pal. Youre wrong now. The OP needs to meet this guy and rob him for everything he’s got to get max unethical. Or am I the only one here willing to go that far
NightIgnite@reddit
Now you're leaning into illegal life pro tips territory. Unethical is a fine line
Vegetable-Tart-4721@reddit
Boo this man!
Memeboidad3@reddit
This seems overly antagonistic. Just pocket the money and ghost
lallapalalable@reddit
You know where you are, right? The antagonism is part of the appeal, and imho worth more than the cash involved.
RECAR77@reddit
That's not how a triangulation scam works. The scammer will never want to show their face and will never agree to a face to face meeting.
ReadySausage@reddit
Hmmm. Up your price then sell. Enter yet create another profile and make an offer for higher than asking. But it’s a bday present t so you need it in 24 hours.
jwalker37@reddit
Or arrange to meet him as the buyer and as the seller at the same time and place. Hilarity will ensue!
jim_br@reddit
Sell him yours. When you back out of buying his, reference your ad and say when you contacted the seller, there was a second watch for sale.

As a buyer and want to buy it from him. Message him eagerly and offer to pay full price. You want to meet today. As a seller, be completely uninterested in making the sale. Not no, just "Well I'm at work now, and I won't be home until late, then tomorrow I have to run some errands, maybe Sunday?" Then, as the buyer, get annoyed that they don't want to meet up right away. Don't sell it to them. Nothing will annoy them more than thinking they have a sale and you just won't make the meeting and then you eventually just say "I don't think it's going to happen".
Cosmohumanist@reddit
I like this one
Bullitbob_@reddit
I like the idea others have said of creating a fake account on the other site and be really eager to buy it. But as the seller, start saying other people are interested as well and see if you can sell it for more than you listed it. Then you can ghost as the buyer account.
lallapalalable@reddit
Haggle the price and then right before agreeing to buy raise the price of your listing to above what hes selling for
iamrichbitch010@reddit
How drop shipping works
prw361@reddit
I don’t hate your solution but my guess is you’re selling on the wrong platform.
realDespond@reddit
undercut his asking price on this other website
Eiovas@reddit
Hahahaha this is so great. We need an update on your decision.
StrayAI@reddit
If they used the exact same pictures in their post, they straight up stole those pictures from you. You could document everything (screenshots and the like) and go straight to a lawyer and see if you have a case for copyright infringement.
Bacongrease83@reddit
Pro tip: they don’t.
embarassingaltaccoun@reddit
Depends on what country they're in, but they likely do. But it's not worth getting a lawyer for. Just send a DMCA takedown notice... After selling the item
geographyofnowhere@reddit
Lolllll
IllHaveTheLeftovers@reddit
This is an absolute proper grift!! The dude will only lose as much as he is willing to rip someone else off; rinse the bastard.
JoinedReddit@reddit
Do the rules of the platform on which you're selling allow for a zero returns opportunity? Do the rules of the platform on which you're (not) buying allow you to back out at zero problems? Seems like a go, if so.
MalevolentAnemone@reddit
You must
bngFXG3MDuau@reddit
You're on UNethical tips, you should definately sell it to him then ghost him.
EasyRow5606@reddit
Gotta Respect the side hustle ah...
MyFavoriteDisease@reddit
You should be grateful the guy showed you your pricing was too low. Maybe send him a free watch in appreciation.
Human-Contribution16@reddit
So you are the only one who is allowed to make a profit? If he pays you then he just has a smart hustle.
Kewkky@reddit
Do it. Offer him a high buy price within reason to convince him to buy it from you from the other website, then never contact him again.
