What console do yall bring with you on your jobs? Soon as I can, I’m bringing either GameCube or n64. I know most bring either ps5 or Xbox but after recent news, I don’t think it’s worth even gaming on either or. I do have a ps5 but I plan to put most my consoles in storage the day I get my cdl. What’s your preference of console?

Steam deck. It’s like a console but it’s a full blown pc. Use it for streaming, gaming, general online things. It’s also handheld for when you want to use it in the driver seat at shippers

Does it run good? Like the FPS? Or does it lag a lot
LongjumpingCat6642@reddit
Runs great. I even run heavily modded American Truck Sim without issue
GronGrinder@reddit
I'm playing Wolfenstein 2 (2017) at 60-90 fps on mine. It's on low, but on a tiny screen you won't notice at all.
New games suck anyway, so anything that's good is going to run great. At worst 30fps or something.
Battery is not the greatest, but that's to be expected.

WTF? did an adult really post this?

Ain’t nothing wrong with hearing gaming preferences…
jabber1990@reddit
if you're 14 its ok....not if you're an adult

I have a R7 9800X3D with an AIO, 32gbs of ram, 2TB SSD, and 5080 Astral OC plugged into an X870E-H motherboard with a 500hz monitor.
That shit stays at home, I have a laptop I use for 34 hour resets in the truck. Not even a tv in there.
By the end of the day I have enough time to shower, eat dinner, and get ready for bed.
Go OTR if you want to work your ass off, go flatbed if you want to make money at the same time, as a greenbean.

I have a PS Portal, Switch and Asus Rog Ally X.

If you got time to play you got time to learn. Do an online education course and get out of the drivers seat (says the man sitting in the driver seat reading Reddit - while being unloaded ready to finish load 3 and get onto pu 3,4 and 5 today

To be fair, I’ve got a lot of licenses already (real estate broker and life insurance) nothing wrong with sparing an hour or two for myself. However I see what you mean…

I have my ps5 with me

I used to keep a whole desktop in here lol. Then I switched to a high end gaming laptop.
These days I just have a Switch 2 and a MacBook Pro.

Something with no moving parts. Trucks shake around a lot and I’d suspect anything with An optical drive or a hard disc drive would be susceptible to extra component wear and tear.
PapaJuja@reddit
I had a gaming laptop because its the best bang for your buck for the space it takes up.
Redsoxdragon@reddit
I use an Asus Rog xbox ally x
It's basically a portable xbox series S combined with a steamdeck.
I've been stuck at terminals playing MGS delta while other drivers seethe. It's glorious

XsX with starlink and a mobile hotspot bonded using speedify running on a raspberry pi. I can game competitively or even stream gameplay from anywhere in the country. Highly recommend if you're OTR.
Big_Chemical_5165@reddit
how much does this cost?
AgapeAnus@reddit
150gb highspeed mobile hotspot on my phone plan is an extra 40$ a month, starlink 100gb roam plan is 50$ a month, speedify is 15$ a month. If I go over 100gb on starlink it's 165$ a month. So data and bonding is 105-220$ a month depending on usage. Up front hardware cost for the raspberry pi and gen3 standard antenna was 650$.
It's certainly not free but it's not as bad as you'd think. And I rarely use my entire mobile highspeed cap AND have to pay for a month of unlimited roam on starlink.

Balatro on my phone has been my go to the past couple of years. Slay the spire is supposed to be really good too. Personally I’m not otr so consoles just don’t make sense.
mindsunwound@reddit
I have an Xbox series S, a Steam Deck, and a MacBook on the truck with me. I game on all three, just depends on what I feel like playing.
BooDBangz@reddit
If you’re not looking for the current gen I’ve always loved my Steam Deck. Huge library and you’re an emulator away from any older consoles library that you want.
ViV_No_CaP@reddit (OP)
I’ve thought about about that, however emulators are just not the same. Thanks for your input.
