We are getting old

Some of us have already turned 60 all of us are getting older but I was just reading about Willie Nelson. (His birthday was yesterday) yall that man lost it all and then started again at 59.
If he can do it. Maybe some of us will too?
ZookeepergameOwn8573@reddit
I love Willie Nelson. His show with Chris Stapleton blew me away a couple years ago. Never thought this 80’s heavy metal butt rocker would ever utter those words. I must be getting old, but damn I appreciate Willie so much now!
rogerm3xico@reddit
I was just saying yesterday that I can't believe David Allan Coe and Willie Nelson outlived all of them and then I wake up this morning and David Allan Coe is dead
Shotgun_Mosquito@reddit
So it's your fault?
rogerm3xico@reddit
God if that worked, I can't believe my boss is still alive.
Ok_Industry3016@reddit
I'm 49 feel like a kid. Genetics I guess?
ONROSREPUS@reddit
lol. My wife does not like the fact I have very little gray hair either when she has a big ole steak like Rogue form X-men.
AdhesivenessEqual166@reddit
My husband started graying in his 30s. My gray is barely noticeable. I'll be 60 in the fall. It's definitely the genes.
Infamous-Yak2864@reddit
Dude is 93 with a full tour schedule....
labretirementhome@reddit
Saw him last night. Wouldn't call it singing at this point. Guitar picking was rough.
Still, he played his heart out, loved the crowd, found myself crying through You Were Always On My Mind and On the Road Again.
Dusty_Sequins@reddit
When you’ve reached Willie Nelson age and status, you don’t need to really sing and play well anymore. He’s definitely put his time in. He’s one I’ve never seen live and at this point probably won’t. That’s one I’ll likely regret.
labretirementhome@reddit
He's touring right now. This is your chance.

Feels like me, any given day
chompy_jr@reddit (OP)
LOL. This checks out.
Fritzo2162@reddit
Andy Huggins is a hot comedian right now. Guy is selling out shows and touring like crazy. He didn't get famous until he was 72. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbbKaM8_LUc
Commisceo@reddit
He had talent to start again. The only talent I have left is I can fart when I sneeze.
Andovars_Ghost@reddit
Oh yeah? I can fart when I sneeze AND throw my back out at the same time!
WayPowerful484@reddit
Tour dates?
Andovars_Ghost@reddit
All sold out. Sorry, but I put on one hell of a show!
prntmakr@reddit
Can I start again at 59 without losing it all? I’d prefer that, please.
chompy_jr@reddit (OP)
We can do whatever we want. We Gen X
ImCaffeinated_Chris@reddit
But you better be home when the street lights come on!
heiberdee2@reddit
Can we be Willie Nelson?
chrimen@reddit
You can buy you'll need to mositurize or else you get the hose again!
Gabrielsen26@reddit
Willie’s all about them blue skies. Inspiring
forgeblast@reddit
Sons of legion have a great song with the line "there is an old man coming but he ain't here yet". I probably say that to myself every day. We are old but not that old got to keep going.
Historical_Project86@reddit
Yeah, I keep on seesawing between being stressed to f*ck about the immediate future, to thinking "hey, have a bit of perspective". It helps if you're completely cool and people want to pay you to do something though. 😄
tultamunille@reddit
If he can.. smoke doobies on the roof of the white house with the president’s son?
Nah I kind of doubt we’ll ever be that cool.
I_Died_Once@reddit
Yeah, no, I dunno....
Not to be disrespectful to anyone so much, but Willie and literally all other generations before us all lived in the economically easiest times ever to have existed.
Wanna impress me, have him do that shit today, with today's hands reaching into his pockets.
AutoArsonist@reddit
"and literally all generations before". really?
Illustri-aus@reddit
Well, the last couple of generations, right!
I doubt that having to grow (and/or barter) every bite of food day to day, never knowing if you would have enough in a few weeks, was an easy time to live.
Personally take my lifestyle compared to those of pre- industrial revolution any time. And several decades after tbh!
GogglesPisano@reddit
From what I’ve heard, the Depression years were pretty rough.
AutoArsonist@reddit
CrankyDoo@reddit
My father grew up during the Great Depression. Those years were fucking hell. I could go on and on with the stories he told. He’s been dead 15 years now but I’m sure he’d have laughed in the OP’s face claiming that growing up he lived in “economically easier” times.
Novel_Pin_6784@reddit
You got a point. Also, his music, while timeless, if introduced today.... maybe not so much. Hate saying that...
finny_d420@reddit
I politely disagree. White guy who sings, smokes weed, plays guitar and can traverse different music genres.
Sounds like some of today's current artists. Post for one example. American Idol got the whole WGWG on lockdown.
Willie for the win on also being a prolific songwriter for other artists.
Infamous-Yak2864@reddit
You are correct...and there's people/generations who are just discovering his music all the time...
AlfaNovember@reddit
Fuck you dont do that!
(Happy birthday, red-headed stranger!)
Chad_Hooper@reddit
Yeah, it’s always scary when someone says that about a senior, but especially when it’s an absolute icon.
God B-day and good weed to you, Willie!
Immediate-Rub3807@reddit
I’m on a mission to retirement at 60, hopefully
chompy_jr@reddit (OP)
What does that look like for you? I’m curious. I have friends who have and in the most Gen X thing ever, some are doing great and sone are not.
Fulghn@reddit
Two roads diverged in the urban jungle,
I gave a one finger salute and walked off into the forest,
And that has made all the difference.
WillBrink@reddit
I turn 61 end of May. 😏
foodandhowtoeat@reddit
I turn 61 tomorrow.
Big_Cryptographer_16@reddit
Happy birthday?😇
siliconsmiley@reddit
Fuck off. I'm not getting old. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to bed at 8:18.
assuredlyanxious@reddit
Take your pills.
Sweet dreams.
wzl3gd@reddit
Meh. Good for Willie but I dont want to start again.
OogyBoogy_I_am@reddit
To me as someone who just turned 61, it's just a number.
I do get people often surprised at how old I actually am because I certainly don't carry myself like I remember "old folks" from my youth used to.
It's kind of strange actually looking at pictures of my grandfathers and then realising that when the pics were taken, that I'm now actually older than they were. But I look and feel at least 20 years younger than they did.
Rebuilding yourself at our ages is definitely possible and I'm watching my late 50's brother going through it now (failed business and failed marriage). You just set your mind to doing something and you just do it.
c0ldgurl@reddit
This is the truth, in some ways compared to our predecessors we have cheated time, and I'm totally good with it.
DominicPalladino@reddit
Losing all your money is not losing it all. Willie still had his talent, fame, and connections. Not saying he didn't work hard or is not a great person, just saying that for any if us that "lose it all" now or that don't have much, saying that "if Williw can do it, we can." is BS.
HighJeanette@reddit
I saw him in concert two years ago and he was fantastic.
PlantMystic@reddit
Thanks for the reminder!
AutoArsonist@reddit
yeah he started over. but he started over AS Willie fucking Nelson. so. a bit of a leg up there. guy is a total legend!
Human_Type001@reddit
Exactly! If I had 1/10th Wllie's talent I might be able to do something new at this age. But alas.
SufficientOpening218@reddit
he had mad skills and just a lil bit more name recognition than most of us. plus a few names he could call. love ya, Willie!
