That’s a real Spanish Cetme stamped receiver ?
sadoproject@reddit
That's a US made stamped receiver from RTG. The parts kit you build around it is Spanish Cetme. They have to be de-mil'd before importing, which involves cutting (usually torch or bandsaw) the receiver and sometimes the barrel to render it inoperable.
theh0veringeye@reddit (OP)
Yeah I’m aware I’m from Spain that’s why I was asking
sadoproject@reddit
Ah. As per Title-18 section 922R of US code, we can only incorporate a certain number of foreign made parts when assembling a rifle or shotgun. The rest must be of US origin. So it's common for us to source US made receivers and to domestically purchase or re-make small parts (triggers, levers, operating rods, magazines) to bring things into compliance.
A bit of a pain in the ass, but it's easy enough. It's also why a lot of people retrofit AR parts into everything possible.

I looked through a lot of stuff yesterday and nowhere did I find anything about suppressors or sbrs being deregulated so I don’t know what GOA is talking about.
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
Free stamps and the proposed removal of SBR's marking and transport requirements are certainly deregulation, but that's not part of a proposed funding bill nor can I find a '27 funding bill that touches on them at all.
what-name-is-it@reddit
The only deregulation that matters for suppressors and sbrs is being able to buy them from a gun store with the same process as regular firearms purchases.

This goes hard if you have no idea how the NFA works
theh0veringeye@reddit (OP)
I would appreciate some knowledge on that topic, I’m European been living in the USA for not too long it seem like only good news to me .
Psychedelic__Cowboy@reddit
My understanding is that they're essentially just doing the opposite of administrative procedure / interpretive rule making. Essentially; the ATF (and other departments of the executive) has the authority to create new rules based on interpretations of enforcing existing laws. They also have the ability to stop/lessen enforcement of existing laws.
So while this ATF may decide to relax on NFA regulated items (suppressors, short barrels, etc), it is still a law on the books that could be enforced at any time. The next administration could instantly reverse this decision with no legal protection, or this current administration could wake up tomorrow and change their minds.
Shoddy-Solution4815@reddit
This. I’d never make an SBR without registering until the NFA is repealed. As long as the law is on the books the next administration can drop the hammer on you. 10 years in prison and permanent loss of 2A rights.
stupid_account_69@reddit
And not just your second amendment rights. You won’t be voting either and severely restricted in post conviction employment opportunities as well.
IAmGoingToSleepNow@reddit
The whole '10 years in prison' seems the worst part to me, but maybe I'm just soft. Or old. When you get old, you value every day.
what-name-is-it@reddit
The flip side to this though, you hit a certain age where life in prison is not a very long sentence.
Substantial-Low-5874@reddit
When you get old, the crappy beds in the cell are more of a deterrent than the amount time of away from responsibilities.
ChainringCalf@reddit
Yes, but that's all they can do.
I'll add, many states criminalize NFA items at the state level, too, often with a clause that it excludes items that have gone through the proper federal process. If you stop going through the federal process, your state government might have something to say about it.
prmoore11@reddit
Are people reading these pictures correctly?
The first one is proposed laws getting out of committee. The second is rules the ATf is proposing. They are two completely different things. The ATF didn’t say they are stopping enforcement of suppressors/SBRs.
Leptonshavenocolor@reddit
Wow, what a shitty system we have.
T0KEN_0F_SLEEP@reddit
While I agree with the sentiment, this is no different than a cop choosing not to pull you over for speeding. You still broke the law, they just chose to let it slide. The law itself needs changing
P1umbersCrack@reddit
Unless you’re in CA and it will still be illegal under state law :/
Pretty weak shit.
Scientific_Coatings@reddit
While I agree, stopping enforcement tends to be a precursor to legislation change, there’s plenty of similar examples. Definitely not making any bets on the NFA being repealed, but if one were an optimist, this is definitely a win.

Im gonna put an example minimum wage in Spain is 1,300€ where healthcare is free and the second best in the world . Average rent in any big city in Spain for a really normal apartment nothing big is 1,000€/1,200€ that doesn’t include amenities. Schools are free untill college and college or university is really cheap like 6k a year or something like that .
What does it matter how cheap or free education or healthcare are if u can’t even afford to live. Even good jobs don’t pay well u would be surprised of how little being a cop , nurse or teachers get paid .
Sethmontone@reddit
Idk anything about Spain, we were in Italy last year for vacay and my wife got sick, she ended up in the hospital and everything was paid for. I thought that was pretty amazing.
gorlomee@reddit
When I was in Italy for vacation last year I paid 20% VAT (equivalent to US sales tax which is around 8% here pretty much) on everything I bought that wasn't food or a hotel room, and when I looked it up I saw that almost 40% of what I make in the US (not to mention I would never get paid that much for my job in Italy in the first place) would be taken as income tax
Palehorse67@reddit

TacosNGuns@reddit

The ATF doesn’t make laws, Congress does. The ATF doesn’t have the authority to magically decide that suppressors, SBRs, etc. are no longer regulated under the NFA
A_Queer_Owl@reddit
yeah, the ATF wasn't granted any legislative power when it was created. it's not a situation like cannabis and drugs where the regulatory agency was also granted legislative powers.
According_Loss_1768@reddit
NFA language needs to be repealed too. I don't think that can be done in a funding bill.
I guess if suppressors are deregulated that would mean people can 3D print their own. But businesses would still have to follow the NFA.
Shoddy-Solution4815@reddit
It can’t. That’s why the tax stamp was reduced to zero. They can’t repeal the NFA through a funding bill.
falconvision@reddit

Why do we need biological sex on ATF forms? Men and women can both buy guns, so isn’t it irrelevant?
Sand_Trout@reddit
It's part of an individual's identifying information that has been required since forever.
Zruss@reddit
The objective is to ban groups, or at minimum dissuade groups they don't like from purchasing firearms; transgender individuals in this case.
We won't know for certain how extreme it is until they announce more details. Will they reject your 4473 if your "biological sex" doesn't match your ID?
pusillanimous_prime@reddit
this administration has given me about 8 different definitions of "biological sex" so hell, I wouldn't even know what to write down
greenisthecolour11@reddit
Just don’t write anything down. That’s my point.
How does requiring biological sex on ATF forms make you pro 2nd Amendment? I don’t see the connection.
pusillanimous_prime@reddit
there is no connection. the only reasons to require "biological sex" on just about any form is to virtue signal to the voters who want to own the libs, and to bolster the surveillance state.
ownahr@reddit
The only thing on here that doesn’t seem like a vague maybe is the ‘requiring biological sex on atf forms’. I could see them adding that tomorrow, and what does that do? At best (for them) it’s a moral victory…? And at its worst, it’s an attempt to keep firearms out of people’s hands based solely on identity, which is anti 2A to begin with.
Sand_Trout@reddit
"Gender" no longer means "sex" in common parlance, even though the words were functionally synonyms until the past few years.
Biological sex has always been the information required for the form, not anything related to internal identity.
turbotictac@reddit
Yeah that point alone is enough to make me call bullshit on them caring about the 2A. Starting your so-called overhaul by trying limit a whole group from purchasing firearms is bullshit.
firearmresearch00@reddit
Genuine question, how does that prevent anyone from getting a firearm? Its data collection. Imo not much difference from eye color, weight, height, or birth location. To my understanding it has nothing to do with gender identity
turbotictac@reddit
It opens up room for the purchase to be denied if their sex at birth doesnt match their ID/passport as a result of it having been legally changed. Basically it creates a catch 22 where neither answer is correct since they would either be putting an answer which doesnt match their documentation or an answer which doesn't match their gender at birth. In other words, it specifically targets those who have gone through the legal process of having their documents match their outward appearance. If it is not being used as a qualifier/disqualifier it is a bit different but still dabbles in a gray area I dont like to see with firearm, or any, legal measures.
IAmGoingToSleepNow@reddit
What group of people does not have a biological sex?
turbotictac@reddit

WE CAN DO A FOREVER WAR IN IRAN IF YOU UNBAN PISTOL BRACES FOR THE SECOND TIME
Shoddy-Solution4815@reddit
Pistol braces were never banned or unbanned. The ATF tried to write a rule recognizing them for what they are, crappy stocks. The ATF just is now going back to a usage based test. If you shoulder it primarily, it’s a stock. If you strap it to your forearm, it’s a brace.
Blame Congress for the definition of the rifle in the NFA including a stock meant to be shouldered.
GildSkiss@reddit
They could do even better than that, they just don't.
Could easily be a design intent based test, and since braces aren't designed to be stocks, they're not. It would cost them nothing to say this.
Blame Congress too though yes.
Shoddy-Solution4815@reddit
Sure, they could. And the next admin’s ATF could change their minds and go back. Either way, we keep going back and forth until the law itself is rewritten
BroseppeVerdi@reddit
Tried to write a rule or did write a rule?
And this rule purport to make their ownership unlawful?
Shoddy-Solution4815@reddit
They wrote it, it got struck down. ATF said rule or not it doesn’t change the actual text of the NFA or federal law defining a rifle.
Didn’t make their ownership unlawful. It codified in a Federal rule the fact that if you stick it on a rifle with a barrel less than 16” or an OAL under 26”, it’s an SBR and it needs registered.
GildSkiss@reddit
Average Republican voter is down for whatever just as long as they tweak the gun laws a little right before the midterm.
Another gorillion dollars to Israel please.
theh0veringeye@reddit (OP)
So with that logic , we can never be happy for anything or like any new laws or regulations bcs the next administration will possibly ruin them ? Come on let’s be positive for once
the_spacecowboy555@reddit
I agree. It’s a positive. It’s like the $200 tax stamp. Sucks that it’s not off the NFA but at least it’s $200. Granted, it opens the door for the next admin to raise it but at least I’m getting what I want now.
BroseppeVerdi@reddit
I was excited about the tax stamp until I saw my tax bill this year. I owed the IRS an additional 13 tax stamps worth of money this year.
BroseppeVerdi@reddit
This already passed?
GildSkiss@reddit
The pattern here is that Republicans will hold off on giving you your freedoms back as much as possible, and when they finally deliver the bare minimum they expect to be worshipped.
I don't want the ATF to be temporarily, slightly nicer about how they interpret the bullshit laws, I want them gone.
MTUTMB555@reddit
Neither party is going to do that, so until we all nut up and do something about it we will have to deal with the lesser of two evils.
the_spacecowboy555@reddit
That involves a new party focused on the best interest of the American people to run with a large group of followers that will start replacing the current 2 party system throughout congress and hope (<—-big word) they don’t turn into the same parties we currently have.

VallettaAwoo@reddit
So the funding bill was already tried, we saw how that went. All this other stuff is good but they are still dancing around the NFA.
At the end of the day its a parade. If they wanted to end the NFA they could do it right now. The DOJ could tap out of its lawsuits and we would strike down a portion of it.
But they do not.
Shoddy-Solution4815@reddit
Doesn’t matter if the DOJ taps out. The court will appoint a new adversarial party or a state would step in.
There is exactly one way to get rid of the NFA, repeal through Congress. That takes 218 votes in the House, 60 in the Senate, and a President willing to sign.
IAmGoingToSleepNow@reddit
Yeah, I don't get it. The end of a lawsuit doesn't end a law.
jfoughe@reddit

why does the government need to know if i have a cock or not when i buy a gun?
HeadlineINeed@reddit
I wish the federal government could do more to stop states like CA for the AW ban and mag capacity ban
Why_Did_Bodie_Die@reddit
Same here. In WA you can't even buy an upper. There are like 3 different semi auto rifles you can buy and that's it.
ThisIsJeron@reddit
Uppers aren’t firearms, so what stops you from doing a day trip to Idaho?
Flashy-Brain@reddit
You can buy long guns from out of state FFLs anyway. I’m sure Idaho has more selection. WA state may not like it though
falconvision@reddit
You can definitely buy an upper in Wa. Saying that as a resident.
Hoodfu@reddit
They will. The DOJ has said that as soon as Virginia passes their awb, the DOJ, (and all the groups like FPC,goa etc) will sue immediately.
1610925286@reddit
What about the fucking other countless states that already have had one for years?!?!? Fucking IL made it so that 99% of semi auto rifles and at least half the pistols made in the last century are banned.
Hoodfu@reddit
I would say the same thing about any of the pro 2a stuff that has randomly happened during this presidency. I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth and there's no time like the present to do the right thing. I fled ny along with lots of people I know in the competition group after they passed theirs, so if we can halt this now, it's worth supporting.
csx348@reddit
Right? Been dealing with this nonsense for 3+ years here in IL. In fairness the Feds did file amicus briefs and participate in oral arguments which is above average, but I'm skeptical this will turn the tide.
Electronic_Camera251@reddit
They have zero cause …they are by mandate solely invested with the power to enforce current law and while their ability to arbitrarily interpret case law and enforce it they lack the power to impose federal will over states rights member when they kept insisting “STATES RIGHTS” it was borrowing from peter to pay paul similarly to how the proposed end of the filibuster would play out it would be safe…until such a tile as the democrats have a majority and then there will never be a chance at conservative government again
HeadlineINeed@reddit
Yeah but suing is slow and they will just come up with another law worded differently
Hoodfu@reddit
Yeah but this kind of hardware case is for all the berries. If DOJ wins this, it'll majorly affect the whole country as a good number of states outlaw all of these kinds of features. It'll drastically change gun ownership going forward which they can't go back on (short of stacking the court and reversing it)
csx348@reddit
They could do a lot of things to stop ban states but they don't. What should really be done is federal preemption for gun laws, but this is relatively extreme and might not be popular even among Republicans.
Electronic_Camera251@reddit
Its actually a result of the republican push towards state and local supremacy that was necessary to the anti abortion legislation and anti minority rulings because denying folks human dignity is worse than making governance totally impossible…i was a lifelong gop voter i simply can’t endorse the insane anti human, pro corporate (and not in a free trade manner simply the taxpayer making sure that people with money to invest will be assured of profit which as a result of economic “policies” is a lot fewer people than it was just before donny took office again
icarus1990xx@reddit
Why requiring biological sex on forms? That’s oddly specific and stupid.
cannabisLab1975@reddit
It dont matter they will just tighten state gun laws…
BroseppeVerdi@reddit
I'll believe it when it's done.
Also, I'm puzzled by the pistol brace thing. Biden ATF pulls this rule out of its ass... court strikes down the pistol brace rule... Trump ATF tells the court to go fuck itself and reiterates the pistol brace ban... now we're supposedly getting rid of it?
I have no desire to ever own one, but I don't know why we keep going around and around on this. How is this going to end? Are we just going to keep banning pistol braces so we can unban them and say "yay second amendment"?
Shoddy-Solution4815@reddit
Because pistol braces are a transparent dodge around the definition of a rifle. The rule didn’t come out of ATF’s ass, it comes from the definition of a rifle in the NFA. A rifle is a firearm designed to be fired from the shoulder. If it has an OAL less than 26” or a barrel length less than 16” it’s an SBR and needs to be registered. Everyone, ATF included, knows pistol braces are a dodge around the shouldering part of the definition. Manufacturers say they’re supposed to be strapped to the arm, no one fucking uses them like that. They shoulder them. The ATF rule was that if you primarily shoulder it, it’s a stock, and a “pistol brace” is just a shitty stock. The court struck down the rule, but that doesn’t change the definition of a rifle in the law, so now instead of a bright line rule, they went back to the old usage based test.
It’s stupid, I think it’s stupid, but it’s not the ATF’s fault. Blame Congress for how they defined a rifle.
its@reddit
The ATF rule was nothing of the sort. It didn’t matter what you did with the brace. It didn’t even have a definition of a stock. They threw away the point system that was originally submitted for comment and came up with a rule out of nowhere that basically said we will declare something a stock as long as we feel like it. There was no technical standard. Changing the rules between the review and adoption of the rule violated the administrative procedures act.
Shoddy-Solution4815@reddit
Right, but that doesn’t change the point. The point is that everyone knows no one is using pistol braces as braces. They’re shouldering them. And if you’re primarily shouldering it, it’s a rifle.
PG821@reddit

THKhazper@reddit
Technically it involves FRTs, under the ruling of Cargill, a bump stock doesn’t make a machine gun because the trigger is being reset, which is also how an FRT works, though by a different mechanism, the maintaining of the triggers disconnect/reset function as a semi automatic. Broadly it could be applied to FRTs as well since they still operate under the same basic mechanical functions, a fast/forced reset semi

A. With palantier in the mix now any hope of not ending up on a list that has been a stated goal of the current regime in all but name (a unique vendor tag for firearms purchases with a card so that they will be able to tell without breaking the law ??? I dont think this is accurate but the current regime has shown an unwillingness to play by the rules B. The legal ability to “use” electronic documentation virtually guarantees a searchable database will be at the disposal of the feds and because it wont technically qualify as a searchable database the government wont be required to get warrants in order to access it C. All of the access issues are already decided there isnt a way that even the most zealous enforcement could affect that now D. It in no way addresses the most pressing issue of local permitting matters an issue which the fed has nearly zero recourse in as a result of GOP insistence on local and state supremacy E. The promise of access to former soviet client states wealth of goodies while i love the idea (i have desperately wanted a bunch of norinco oddities that seemed to spawn at the very moments we banned import (read the ithaca knockoffs, the 7.62X39 M14 clone , double stack tokarevs , 1897 trench gun clones and cheap Warsaw pact civilian arms along with ammo for all of it … we enacted these sanctions as a result of hostile actions on behalf of remaining communist states including Russia while i realize the short term joy this would bring it also will fund Russian wars of aggression, Chinese military spending, North Korean nuclear goals essentially Commie first America never And it stands to reason given the attitude of the potus in regards to these enemies of the people . GrillinFool@reddit
If this happens I’m so buying a shockwave and putting a stock on that bitch. I mean like the next day.
xTyronex48@reddit
Whatsup with number 4 on the last slide?
GOOLGRL@reddit
The 4473 form changes are going to be trans-exclusionary, so it's an L for a lot of people.
Threather19@reddit
What happened to the mentally ill shouldn’t have guns?
GOOLGRL@reddit
There is already a question on the 4473 to filter those who have been adjudicated mentally unwell. People with updated gender markers on their ID's do not inherently fit the criteria for a 4473 denial based on that particular question. It could be argued that schizophrenic people would fit that criteria though, so FFL's should be careful with followers of Abrahamic cults like Christianity.
Threather19@reddit
Does that include Jews and Muslims?
GOOLGRL@reddit
All followers of all three Abrahamic cults need their heads inspected.

another pump and dump
Brewtown@reddit
Pretty sad when Barack Obama has done more for gun rights than Trump.
Unusual-Ad-1056@reddit
Don’t get too hard… Trumps second term has been shit
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
Half that shit isn't going to pass the Byrd rule and get filibustered.
Pyrokitsune@reddit
Yeah, sure...wake me up when it actually happens. All the promises in the world don't mean jack until they are actually implemented
Imaoldmanok@reddit
Suppressors shouldn’t even be part of the NFA, and the Hughes amendment needs to be repealed.
Gunsensual@reddit
The executive branch willingly limit its own authority? I'll believe it when I see it. The success in image#2 was 100% legislative.
UnitCell@reddit
Yes, finally again cheap Veprs ... ... ...
Oh shucks!
VanillaIce315@reddit
This sockcucker is definitely not pro-2A. Just more lip service from grimey losers
knifemonstergar@reddit
Only if it gets abolished
tiger19@reddit
Wishful thinking. I thought the 2A community learned previously. Obviously we're still playing fools.
Strong_Dentist_7561@reddit
Enlighten me on the “remove combloc country bans except Russia”… this mean we get more Makarovs ??
Schoolofhardnugs@reddit
Well shit I’m getting my lower engraved tomorrow… oh well
repdetec_revisited@reddit
I’m going to get so many suppressors
jjohnisme@reddit
17 was an odd choice. Wonder why that's shoehorned in here 🤔
GOOLGRL@reddit
Typical "rights for me and not for thee" bs. Unsurprising considering stuff like the Mulford Act, the NRA's involvement in the drafting of NFA policy, and Bush's LEOSA.
GildSkiss@reddit
I'd prefer if the form didn't exist at all, obviously, but I don't understand how it's any more a violation of your rights to just write down your biological sex.
GOOLGRL@reddit
Because it would then conflict with every other form of ID I have and still possibly be construed as lying. "Biological"(n I'm not trying to be argumentative here about trans debate stuff 😅) also differs depending on which specific medical professional you speak to. For example an insurer would go by birth sex wheras an endocrinologist may document based on hormonal expression. The 4473 was fine with just using valid ID for sex and the change is being made to criminalize trans gun ownership.
xfyre101@reddit
this will never pass in the current state its formulated
Mr_Dukie_Fuzzypants@reddit
Any word on if ITAR restrictions will be eased so Canadians can finally buy some cool things? I can’t even get accessories.
My Dan Wesson revolver needs new grips!
whobang3r@reddit
Let's get that cheap steel flowing back in. 7.62x39 is back on the menu (hopefully) boys!
sludgehammr@reddit
Yeah, the Republicans sure are gun friendly 😆😆😆😆 due process later lmfao
Important-Block9260@reddit
Every year it seems another state passes another awb ban, I don’t think the federal government cares about gun laws anymore. They will just do the status quo and let the states strip our rights away
VictarionGreymane@reddit
Trump is not usually a big 2A supporter so I'll hold off celebrating until I see results, this does look promising though
GildSkiss@reddit
Midterms coming up so republicans need to do the bare minimum again
BroseppeVerdi@reddit
I'll believe it when it's done.
Also, I'm puzzled by the pistol brace thing. Biden ATF pulls this rule out of its ass... court strikes down the pistol brace rule... Trump ATF tells the court to go fuck itself and reiterates the pistol brace ban... now we're supposedly getting rid of it?
I have no desire to ever own one, but I don't know why we keep going around and around on this. How is this going to end? Are we just going to keep banning pistol braces so we can unban them and say "yay second amendment"?
GullibleRisk2837@reddit
*sigh
I will only be truly satisfied with gun laws when the NFA is ABOLISHED, and the ATF DISBANDED
theh0veringeye@reddit (OP)
Then u will never be truly satisfied
smokeytrue01@reddit
That’s one cowardly take, but I guess if you only want the crumbs they give you have fun with it
theh0veringeye@reddit (OP)
Has nothing to do with bravery or being a coward I honestly don’t see any 3 letter agency getting abolished at all . I would love to see that but that’s not gonna happen
Verthias@reddit
Let's see those registry efforts exposed, and destroyed.
