Found a Deepcool Steam Castle PC case at a thrift store for $40. Is it worth it to pick up in case I want to build a PC in the future?

Is it worth picking up? I have no clue, other than the fact it is older than most Fortnite players (apparently released somewhere around November 2014) and do not have any clue about it other than it is old.

If you want to build a PC specifically in that case, then yes. You're not likely to find another one. Though there's also no guarantee any of the fans still work. The front 200mm fan in particular would be about $20 to replace, if you can find one. Rear 120mm fan another $6.
If you want to build any PC at some point in the future that is quiet and doesn't run super hot, no. It's a 10 year old case with 10 year old design around cooling. Something like an NZXT H3 Flow or Montech X5M are going to be around $55, but also run cooler, quieter, and be much smaller while better supporting modern hardware. And at $65 there are really excellent options like the Montech Air 903 Base.

Montech makes really good cases and components. Im in a Montech King the fans all come pre wired and installed and has a USB fan hub already installed. There also leave room up top which I put in the digital temp display AIO.

The king pro is my favorite right now. I don't even have one, but it was so great to build in.

I bought it 😀
DisgruntleFairy@reddit
YEY! Did you haggle the cost down? or pay full price?
pwrwqYT@reddit (OP)
I tried to but it was not for discount sadly 😓
DisgruntleFairy@reddit
Dang!
Lowfat_cheese@reddit
If you like the look of it and you don’t mind the price then there’s no reason not to.
AlfaPro1337@reddit
There is 5.25 inch drive bay, use those USB C 5.25inch front panel accessories.

Would this very negatively affect the rate a cheap 5below wireless mouse and wired keyboard be able to recieve inputs into the PC? Or would it really matter if you were charging something or like a camera connected to it or something?
Lowfat_cheese@reddit
A camera maybe, peripherals no, even USB 1 is plenty to handle a mouse or keyboard
pwrwqYT@reddit (OP)
alr thanks 👍
ELB2001@reddit
Nah only really matters for transfer speed
pwrwqYT@reddit (OP)
Would it negligable if the only things I plugged into it were a mediocre mouse and keyboard, or would it cause too much input delay?
Accomplished_Emu_658@reddit
If you like it? Sure. Other wise no. Its not a desirable case. It’s not designed for modern cooling at all.
Tall_Apricot_9842@reddit
its still got its hard drive caddies? hell yea. i dont see cases in my area for under 100-something with hard drive caddies
course, only worthwhile if youll actually use them. its probably not got enough airflow for a tradional gaming pc, but something like a low wattage server could work, the case would help block the fan noise. if i was in your situation id probably want to pick it up; but ive got a specific use case, you dont, so its probably not worth it, unless you want to go for a whole project
Gridbear7@reddit
I remember seeing this when I was making my first build, it might lack in features or airflow compared to some modern ones but that unique look, for 40 I'd take it and see how it goes
DisgruntleFairy@reddit
I mean a new case will run similar price so, if you like it go for it. You might be able to haggle them down a bit too, don't be afraid to ask.
17Fiddy@reddit
Dog do not buy that, especially at $40.
bigs0815@reddit
Man this thing is dope. I would love to build something in that, even for just cool factor. I miss the days when cases had personality and choosing one was more aboutaling a statement rather than which fishtank is 2c cooler or has more rgb screens.
Coffinmagic@reddit
It’s magnificent…
plac3b0guy@reddit
Like a phat stormtrooper
MrWendal@reddit
You can probably find old PC cases for free, save the money
comYoshitaka@reddit
Nah that's a waste of space. Look into a Nanoxia Deep Silence 6.
whomad1215@reddit
let me know when you find that gigantic full tower for $40
comYoshitaka@reddit
The tower in the picture is useless. There's no room for practically anything.
Lowfat_cheese@reddit
What can’t you fit in OP’s case that an average computer user would need?
FReeDuMB_or_DEATH@reddit
You can get a nice modern case for about $20 more on sale so IDK, unless you really like the ascetics of this case.
FeveredBerry@reddit
I mean, if you plan to use it why not? Looks horrible to me but if it's your style go for it.
pesoaek@reddit
thats goofy as fuck.
but if you like it it seems pretty cheap i guess?
