How do I remove PCIE metal slot covers?

PC is already built, I am upgrading my internet, therefore, I needed to a buy new network card; I was using the one of the motherboard before so I never bothered to break off the metal in the back to make space for a network card. Now I need to do it... thing is, I don't know how to and I don't wanna damage the motherboard. I can't bend it inwards a lot or it hits parts of the motherboard.

What case or do you have pictures of the slot from the inside and the outside?

Mag Forge 120A Airflow

On the backside of the case is a screw next to the PCI slots. Undo the screw and there should be a hinged brace that an now pull away and reveal the slot covers that should be loose and easy to pull straight up and out.

That was already pulled off when I first built the PC but the exposed metal parts, I have to break off.

Ah, with a screwdriver I usually punch them out the back with a little force.

Depends on the case, I assume you have the break off type rather than the screw on type? Try pushing it out from the inside.

Break off, yes. Mag Forge 120A Airflow.

Based on what I see that isn't a breakaway type. How did you put in or remove your GPU? Seems like there is an attachment that holds the slots in place you can loosen.

Look, it is the breakaway type, I know, I built the PC by myself, I had to break it off... there's no attachment.

You just have to unscrew and it'll come out.

Some prebuilts/cheaper cases don't have screw brackets, some are metal covers held on by 2 little points that you wiggle back and forth until they snap off
PixelPete27@reddit
Gotcha. Didn't actually know that. I've build several and had 3 prebuilds and they all screwed, so I made the assumption. My b

All good mate, I haven't seen them in a long time TBF, usually just on some cheapo old office PC's I have to tear down
420throawayz@reddit (OP)
Damn, really? Mine isn't a prebuild it's as Mag Forge 120A Airflow. I had a prebuild before in 2022 and it was snappable too.
PixelPete27@reddit
Damn, I want to come across one.
Something about wiggling metal back and forth until it snaps it satisfying. Like wiggling a paperclip when you're 7. And by 7, I mean to this day if no one is watching

Remove the motherboard from the case.
Unless remove the screws and slide it carefully just enough to bend the cover.

Hope this may help provide some similar guidance;
