Have you cancelled or thinking of not going on overseasholidays as a result of prices?

With jet fuel prices set to surge and flight fares set to go up, has anyone decided not to go on overseas holidays?
Or have you been brave enough to go?

Brave? Only if people were planning a trip to Tehran. I was looking at European holiday and prices didn't seem to have leapt noticeably, so probably won't know until the last minute bookers try, or next year.

I’ve been on 2 holidays abroad in my 35 years on this earth. I’m thinking of not going because of the price every single time I think about a holiday.

I was going to go to Jordan and Taiwan this year. Jordan is now a bad idea (advice against all but essential travel ) and ticket prices to Taiwan doubled, so I'm only planning European holidays so far this year.
USA is a hard no, of course.

What on earth has bravery got to do with it? If you can / want to afford it then go.
courage_the_dog@reddit
Tbf if you're flying with ryanair you do need a bit of bravery
en91n33r@reddit
Haha not wrong!

Well, it's normal to have trepidation about spending a lot of money.

I guess because you cannot tell how safe a place might be or if war is to break out in that area (unless you want to stay in say central europe)
VolcanicBear@reddit
You understand your financial situation?
How brave of you. Such an inspiration.

I'm going back to Portugal in July. Everything is already paid for. The only people the current crisis should bother financially are those who stupidly didn't plan their holidays ahead or businesses travellers with last minute plans. For the rest of us who booked our summer holidays long in advance, no worries at all. That is presuming flights aren't cancelled due to fuel shortages. But that's okay cos I'll just get a refund as I always only book fully refundable for everything.

Losing my job to AI has been a bigger impediment. But yes, a UK holiday might be safer.

Iv already booked and paid, i work all year to go away, i dont give a shit if it ends up being on the front line, il be going to the hotel iv paid for.

Brave solider here. Not changing our plans unless they literally get cancelled. We book our holidays well in advance. Turkey in May & Italy in the summer.
I’ll be gutted if either gets cancelled but I know it’s a possibility. Will deal with if it happens.

I booked my flight to see family in France for £36 return. I used to pay more to get the train home from uni. So personally it’s made zero difference

My mates booked a flight 3 weeks after me and the price had actually come DOWN for them by 30 quid

I've got 5 kids mate, airfares fuck you before you even start
DesignFar6251@reddit
Not really. I usually go on at least 6 tips a year and I'm not planning on stopping that at all.
Currently have North Macedonia booked, and looking to book Mexico for the end of the year. As well as probably a Baltic trip in the coming months

You posted a version of this question like three weeks ago - kinda seems like your karma farming, which is lame
nfurnoh@reddit
We must have been psychic because back in January we decided to not go abroad this year after the amazing trip to Vietnam last summer. Thought we’d just stick close to home. Seems we made the right decision.
Notagelding@reddit
Going to Spain tomorrow, for the weekend. Flying to America, in June. I booked both before this shit in Iran started.
WhatsThePlanPhil95@reddit
Oh, I'm not obsessed with like, going on holiday and stuff.
72dk72@reddit
I am going to just get something last minute as there will be lots of deals as people cancel or waiver.
Brickie78@reddit
... I booked my Eurostar and onward trains and went back to what I was doing
No_Oil_5684@reddit
I’ve been brave enough to keep my 3 week trip to the alps booked 💪
Truewit_@reddit
Yeah I’ve rethought my plans big time. Got a colleague who’s gone to Germany this week and we’re all joking he won’t be back
