Speeding ticket help
Posted by Blahaj_Lover44@reddit | Dallas | View on Reddit | 24 comments
I got a speeding ticket on the 20th, first time ever, and want ti take a defensive driving course to negate it. However, the website to do that (farmers branch ecourt) has been down since then and doesnt give a scheduled time for coming back up. What do I do? Ill have to sell my car if my insurance goes up and am nervous

Dude, I go 90-100 on 635, but as soon as I take the Webb Chapel exit.. speed limit the whole way home.
I see people continuing to speed, only to get lit up by an officer hiding behind the church or school. They literally have nothing else better to do.
That being said, you can go in person or submit it by mail.

I got pulled over on the highway, flow of traffic and whatnot, I was only going like 10 over too.. uhg
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit
You got pulled over on 35 or 635? Damn, I'm sorry man. I've actually never seen them on there before.
Blahaj_Lover44@reddit (OP)
Yeah, 635, some cop on a bike. Already having a shit day to was just cherry on top ðŸ˜

Dude I came back to say holy shit. They have been on both interstates a lot more now. Saw someone get pulled over on the Valley View exit for the first time since living here.

When did you move here? And yeah bruh i hate the influx of police
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit
3 years ago, always thought the interstates were safe. I guess they got a new memo now.

I don’t think 35 in FB and Carrollton is enforced

Offtherecord website. Usually cheaper

Don't do defensive driving, go to the count website and ask for Deferred Adjudication.
Basically you are 90 probation not to get another ticket and it is waved.
You okay some count fees but they are similar to what a defensive driving class would be and you don't have to waste hours.
_null_null@reddit
I don’t 100% agree. Deferred adjudication costs twice as much and comes with a probation period.
ernie19962@reddit
deferred disposition costs the full amount of the ticket in the city of Dallas in less the judge says otherwise in walk in court. You have to apply for Defered on the sight or walkin court, or mail. Not sure how FB does things though.
Accomplished_One3985@reddit
This is 100% the way. Especially it being a first ticket there should be zero issue getting deferred adjudication.
Just be very cognizant to drive extra careful during your "probation" time.

Go to the city courthouse and talk to the clerk. They are happy to help you do what you need to do to give them money.
ty944@reddit
Call the court your ticket is for and speak with a clerk about it. You’ll probably have to do so anyway before you start DD anyway lol
ernie19962@reddit
and at least in the City of Dallas you only have 21 days from the day your ticket is in the system to take action
noncongruent@reddit
Yep, you have to enter a plea of some sort first, and that requires contacting or visiting the court. Skipping that step typically results in an arrest warrant being issued shortly after the deadline on the ticket for making the plea.
Any-Machine-4323@reddit
Don’t they give more options on the defensive driving courses?
ernie19962@reddit
you have to first ask the court for permission to take dsc. At least in Dallas, IDK about FB
Fred2606@reddit
Yeah don’t wait on the website. People usually end up calling or going to the court directly since you have to enter a plea first anyway. If you miss that step, it can cause bigger issues like deadlines or even a warrant.
Once you get through to them, ask about defensive driving approval since that’s what most people use to keep it off their record, reduce the fine a bit (sometimes up to 10%) and avoid insurance spikes. Sites like onlinetxdefensivedrivingcourse .com should do the trick. It’s pretty straightforward.

No, go to the trail…. Stop feeling guilty

Farmers Branch is the worst city in the metroplex to get a ticket. I am fairly sure you will need to go to court and ask the Judge to either enroll in defensive driving or ask for Deferred Adjudication. Personally I prefer Deferred Adjudication as an option - think of it as traffic violation probation. Provided you don't get a ticket during the period they set, your existing ticket gets dismissed. The defensive driving class is less exciting than watching paint dry.
soonerfreak@reddit
Call the number on the ticket and ask for help on getting it set in motion.
DaDidko@reddit
Call the court, and just tell them that, they'll help you, it's what i did
