Edibles should be allowed on planes

There would be nothing better than taking a good indica gummy, watching my backlog of movies on letterboxd on my iPad, and then falling asleep. It would make every flight soooo much easier and less boring. They allow alcohol on flights, and I’d argue that’s way worse. If there was a store past security that sold them, it would make sooooo much money too
Coga_Blue@reddit
Literally have taken edibles almost every flight I’ve taken in the last 5 years or so. I just eat it before walking into the airport
SpongeJake@reddit
Right? Why would you need to take them in the flight. Just eat them about an hour before takeoff snd you’re golden.
Eat them on the flight and depending on where you’re going you might start getting high by touchdown. What would be the point?
WolverinesThyroid@reddit
an hour? I'm jealous. I need to take an edible 2-4 hours in advance to feel anything.
tomveiltomveil@reddit
I suppose it could be useful for those painfully long international flights. When I flew to Asia I could have used a gummy, some ambien, and enough ketamine to make Elon Musk faint.
SpongeJake@reddit
Heh. I wonder though: even on those long flights taking it before takeoff might still work. Guess it depends on the dosage.
I usually start with 50 mg it after a few days need to bump it up to 100. I find I’m usually good for a full day after one of those.
BeefWellingtonSpeedo@reddit
In the year 3000 they will have dispensers at every gate.
Erlend05@reddit
I hope i live another 74 years to find out

🎵 He said I've been to the year 3000, not much has changed but they eat edibles before flying 🎵

How’s the great great great granddaughter?
Ugly-as-a-suitcase@reddit
could be 2030 if americans weren't dumb.
HighOnGoofballs@reddit
I take it right after security
TetSusKhal@reddit
Just be careful with that. if something happens and they find it, you could end up with some serious trouble
AustinRiversDaGod@reddit
I take it right before. I find I start feeling it right when the plane is taking off
Common_Pepper_1824@reddit
Right there with you buddy. Pop it before I get my ID checked
PanthersChamps@reddit
Yeah i ate one before getting to the airport one time then got to my gate and realized i left my bag at security.
ashleyshaefferr@reddit
Just tough when flying international and you're there 1.5-2hours before flying.
Flying in Canada is amazing though
mandatorypanda9317@reddit
I also throw a few into a medicine bottle and ive never been stopped lol
uhdoy@reddit
Vitamins, supplements, melatonin. So many things come in gummy form
naastynoodle@reddit
There’s a shop in one of the terminals at ATL that sells edibles. Got a free sample on the way out for my last flight and was feeling a+
0xducky@reddit
But you have the way back
ReggaeJunkyJew4u@reddit
You don’t even need to do that. I have been putting edibles in my carryon snack bag. They never question it.
tomveiltomveil@reddit
"United Flight 420 will be delayed 4 hours. Please inform the gate agent if you will need a Designated Sober Person to remind you to get on your plane in 4 hours. Please do not pet any service dogs on your way to the gate agent."
IamAWorldChampionAMA@reddit
When your in front of the airport and you're eating an entire baking sheet of brownies, do you get weird looks? When I do it I can't tell.
mazzicc@reddit
Tell me you don’t know edible dosage without telling me you don’t know edible dosage.
IamAWorldChampionAMA@reddit
in all seriousness I'll take 1 or 2 10mg gummies.
FUTRage@reddit
Blud said baking sheet
Coga_Blue@reddit
He’s a world champion alright! Bros gonna be so high he doesn’t even need the plane.
arc777_@reddit
I don’t want to risk having someone green out and forcing an emergency landing
CPD1960@reddit
I don’t want some druggie sitting beside me, especially on a long-distance flight.
sixfxrtyseven@reddit
and I don't want drunkards, what now?
9fingerwonder@reddit
I mean I eat a bunch as I'm walking into the airport. I think part of it is the impact is harder to gauge or recovery from. Not that alcohol doesn't have its issues but idk if I want a bunch of sloths trying to get off the plane.
HighOnGoofballs@reddit
I once had a delay for my connection after I’d timed mine to hit so i could sleep during the long flight. i was REAL high in the layover airport. I coped by scoring a cinnabon and crushed it
icantfindadangsn@reddit
Name nearly checks out.
nuhGIRLyen@reddit
“Don’t you get anxious/paranoid being high at the airport?”
I cannot think of a place where people avoid eye contact as much as they do in an airport
JustPlayDaGame@reddit
colonoscopy
RogerRabbot@reddit
Dont worry, theres literally no slower way to get off a plane than the way we already do it. Someone having bad reactions or being generally slow has zero effects on that. Genuinely, we couldnt do it slower if we tried. (Short of just outright not moving, but assuming everyone wants to leave eventually.)
AlphaGodEJ@reddit
just go in already high
Dreadsin@reddit (OP)
But long flights 😣
WpnsOfAssDestruction@reddit
Just bring gummies with you. TSA is looking for bombs, not weed.
improbablydrunknlw@reddit
I cannot stress about not taking drugs into another country enough. Do not forget it, do not leave it. You'll have a terrible time.
lostspace_1@reddit
Except SEA where you will be skinned alive for some weed
Rocktopod@reddit
I've had them stop us and test some gummy bears before to make sure they weren't plastic explosives, but I would think it's probably okay as long as it's under the 3oz limit or whatever.
coquihalla@reddit
I'm imagining some guy whose sole job is to eat one single gummy bear from every package that goes through the airport, just to be sure its not contraband.
BeefWellingtonSpeedo@reddit
Also water and shampoo
WpnsOfAssDestruction@reddit
Because liquid chemicals can be used to make explosives
BeefWellingtonSpeedo@reddit
The terrorist must be scared because they haven't caught any
BeerAndTools@reddit
Wait... I've never actually considered the "efficacy" (ya, I know) of upgraded security, as told by the number of positively identified and confiscated liquid explosives. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say it's roughly fuckin zero?
AustinRiversDaGod@reddit
Well the whole thing happened because they caught someone trying to do it. Same with the shoe thing. If I was taking a bomb on a plane that wouldn't be the way I tried it for that reason. The problem is if no one is trying it, then we're suffering for nothing.
BeefWellingtonSpeedo@reddit
It was great flying in the 90s. IYKYK
Darmok47@reddit
They did, just before they had a chance to do anything. My friend is ex CIA and wrote a book about it.
erichf3893@reddit
Just get some mints
SpongeJake@reddit
Hoe much are you taking? When I have an edible I’m usually good for the entire day.
74orangebeetle@reddit
Nope. When maybe when people are held responsible for their actions and can't use the influence of marijuana induced psychosis to get away with murder. Personal responsibility and freedom should go hand in hand. Can't have one without the other. You want the freedom to have edibles, then we must also hold people fully responsible for crimes under the substance and not allow anyone to use their altered mental state as a defense for a lighter sentence or lack of a sentence.
Dreadsin@reddit (OP)
Are you from the 1950s or something? Some edibles will not do something that serious. It’ll just make people chill out
74orangebeetle@reddit
1950's? Nope. This happened in the 2020s https://abc7.com/post/thousand-oaks-killing-weed-induced-psychosis-probation-sentence-bryn-spejcher/14360659/
Probation for stabbing someone to death while on marijuana...so either they let people use it to get away with murder, or it actually is that dangerous...in either way it should be banned until people are held responsible for their actions while using it.
Dreadsin@reddit (OP)
Eh taking a single case isn’t really very informative. I could point to countless cases of alcohol based problems, they will literally sell you alcohol on a plane
Materva@reddit
I feel like you are referring to Bryn Spejcher, I don't feel that is a fair comparison because it happened like 8 years ago, the landscape has changed greatly since then.
Canadiancurtiebirdy@reddit
Damn being canadian is dope. I take edibles on the plane and people do not care its lovely
WinterReview7992@reddit
I am surprised we don't have cannabis shops at the airport, honestly.
echo-tango86@reddit
Mix em in with a bunch of gummy bears or something similar. They’ll never know or give a damn either
ntnbsmw@reddit
probably would have fewer people fighting flight attendants lol
_coffee_@reddit
Well, you can always have one before you go through security.
HighOnGoofballs@reddit
Or after. It’s not like they care or are going to send your gummy to the lab. Heck if it’s in a hemp bag it’s legal

My homie took an oz of flower in his carryon. They don't care.

jmcstar@reddit
The alternative is using your jail pocket

LarrrgeMarrrgeSentYa@reddit

melasaurus_rex@reddit
I'd never tell you to just put what you need in a regular candy package and get on the plane like normal person.
Yep. Def don't do that.
FungusGnatHater@reddit
Where are you flying? The vast majority of flights depart, arrive, or fly over somewhere that prohibits cannabis. Being in a plane at 40,000 feet doesn't make you above the law.
Aquamansuckss@reddit
You can. Just go ahead and do that.
Wheelerdealer75205@reddit
Literally just bring them. I travel with edibles and know a ton of other people who do as well. Security does not give af unless you’re somewhere where you obviously shouldn’t have them (Japan, Singapore, etc)
MechKeyboardScrub@reddit
"Just internationally smuggle drugs through airport security" is wild advice to give.
I live in a legal state and just about a month ago heard someone ask the "legal" ~~drug dealer~~ budtender what would happen if the edibles fell into their bag before their flight into Mexico and they said it would be fine since their friends fly "garbage bags of weed" from a bordering legal state.
It's fine until it's not, then you go to Mexican jail for 15 years.
MineIQ1701@reddit
Gotta be careful with that stuff, though. It can cause an opposite reaction in some people which makes them aggressive and liable to cause issues. I would much rather everybody on the plane take a gummy than have 10% on xanax.
kdttocs@reddit
Seriously. I've even gone through 2ndary with them domestic US. They don't care.
I even flew to Dubai with a few THC pills by accident (leftovers).
VStarlingBooks@reddit
Candy looks like candy and most edibles just look like what they are. Most don't smell either anymore.
c0147@reddit
No one is checking your bags for edibles at domestic airports in the USA. Put them in a ziplock bag.
Tw1ch1e@reddit
I take thc disposable vape cartridges in my carryon, no one cares.

They do, just eat it before you get on…duh!
TheBalloonEffect@reddit
They are just bring them normal candy sheesh
BargerianJade@reddit
I accidentally went through security with an edible in my bag. It was homemade too, so it was only in a zip lock bag, not like airtight. The dogs didn't react and I realized when I unpacked at my destination. Whoops. Lol
AustinRiversDaGod@reddit
Lol I flew from LA to Louisiana last year with a bag that was stankin so much I took the weed out that night and brought it to work and it stunk up my whole office the next day. To the point where I had to prove to my co-worker that I didn't have any on me.
Not one person said a word. I'm glad it was a very empty flight and no one was in the row behind it in front of me 😅
Reaper_Messiah@reddit
They have different dogs trained to sniff out different things. I haven’t found any way to tell which is which though.
WpnsOfAssDestruction@reddit
The dogs are looking for explosives, not pot gummies.
BargerianJade@reddit
Fair lol
VeryStonedEwok@reddit
I just flew back from Colorado last week with literally 20 bags of gummies in my backpack, no one gives a fuck mate.
crashingtingler@reddit
they are allowed if you just bring regualr dummies with them.
AustinRiversDaGod@reddit
No one has the will or honestly the ability to tell edibles from regular candy. In like 2010, I started sneaking weed brownies in with a bag of regular brownies. Nowadays, I just throw gummies in my bag and I never have issues. Actually, quiet as it's kept, you can fly with flower in your carry-on as long as it's a domestic flight. Obviously you can't do anything with it on a plane or in an airport, but people aren't harassing you over a personal amount of weed.
But yeah edibles make flights fucking awesome. Either I'm taking a ride in a rocket ship with an amazing soundtrack, or I knock out and sleep through the majority of the flight. Or I get engrossed in a movie and completely forget that I was even on a plane. Downside is you will spend more money on airport food.
braqass@reddit
Who is not taking edibles on planes? Do you think the TSA is going to test every Gummy bear, brownie, cookie and candy for thc? That’s not practical ,so they don’t. They’re practically legal at this point. I can’t see any scenario where someone would get in trouble for having an edible on plane unless it was in a package that said THC on the label and they were being difficult at the security gate.
dwkeith@reddit
I put pills inside a nitro keychain container. Ain’t nobody questioning that.
subwaytofu@reddit
do you take any extra cautions before traveling internationally? domestically i see no issue but i would worry about crossing into a new country with anything not federally legal. maybe just make sure they’re gone before you go through any border control?
braqass@reddit
Totally different story internationally. Every country has their own laws around cannabis and I would not fuck around like that.
StillWeCarryOn@reddit
I work in cannabis and so many of my customers and coworkers bring packaged dispensary products onto planes it's crazy to me. Not flower that only know of but pretty much everything else without trying to hide it. They really don't seem to care
Throwaway_alt_burner@reddit
They don’t even check. They aren’t looking for drugs, they’re looking for weapons and explosives. Even if they have dogs, they hit on explosives, not weed gummies.
TR1V1UM@reddit
Agreed, I throw them in a sandwich bag with sour patch kids and other gummy bears.
cabridges@reddit
The TSA’s official position is that they do not look for drugs, but if it’s in their face they will have to report it to local law enforcement.
Alarming_Ad1746@reddit
Hemp-based THC drinks? At least until the Fall.
debbilsavocado@reddit
i’ve done edibles twice on planes and I don’t think they’re for me. being cramped and strapped in and the pressure changes is an uncomfortable experience that made me feel like I just wasted the weed.
taking it on a train on the other hand was incredible and I highly recommend it
mollygk@reddit
I bring edibles on every flight, including international, and have never had an issue …
JaxandMia@reddit
I take them on every flight. Snacks are allowed, just put them in an unlabeled ziplock and carry them on. If you feel nervous, take several bags of regular snacks and 1 with edibles but really they cannot tell the difference between a medicated and non medicated brownie. Enjoy
EndlessSummerburn@reddit
Edibles are easy to sneak onto a plane

AspieFabels@reddit
They’re not NOT allowed 🤔
LePetitRenardRoux@reddit
I mean, they kinda are. Nobody cares. I have been openly (aka not going to great lengths to hide it) been traveling by airplane with copious amounts of weed on me, in the form of vapes, edibles and small stashes of flower. I always take edibles when flying. 1 on the taxi ride to the airport, one during boarding and one at takeoff. Goodbye cruel world, hello bumpy air tunnel of time change.
Less-Cap6996@reddit
I know it’s not allowed, but nobody is looking for or will notice your edibles unless they are shaped like pot leaves or tiny bongs. Just eat them prior to boarding.
banedemon@reddit
Buy melatonin gummies. Dump them out. Put weed gummies in container. Put container in bag with other medicines. Thats what I do.
timwtingle@reddit
This isn't hard. Perhaps not take an edible before trying to figure how to have one on a plane.
indigogalaxy_@reddit
They should be given out by flight attendants 😂
xrelaht@reddit
They already do a bunch of other stuff to keep passengers docile, like keep the air pressure at 75kPa. Why not let us get high and pass out?
BeefWellingtonSpeedo@reddit
In the year 3000
bourj@reddit
Just need the feds to legalize them.
HighOnGoofballs@reddit
You can take a bag of hemp derived legally and tsa isn’t looking for weed anyway
bourj@reddit
TSA looks for whatever they're in the mood to look for. Free edibles sounds like a good deal to them 😀
Noogie_Power@reddit
This is exactly it. They are prioritizing dangerous things. They aren't necessarily looking for small quantities of illegal things as it's not worth the time and effort, but it doesn't mean they won't look for it and flag it... there's always that one guy. lol
beuhring@reddit
Just take one. What the fuck is stopping you?
Arrhythmic10@reddit
planes shouldnt be on drugs. maybe if the people were on drugs and you put people on planes
Kittymeow123@reddit
I mean.. they kinda are because it’s just a gummy. No one has any idea what it’s made of. TSA is not going to ask you for the composition of your gummies. Put gummies ins plastic bag in your personal item and pop one before the flight (when boarding starts lmao) and you’re good to go.
GrandmaForPresident@reddit
The TSA isn’t there to find drugs, the dogs at the airport aren’t even trained for drugs. Take an edible right before you check in, check a bag full of edibles, be on your way.
ms_panelopi@reddit
I just throw them in with a bag of other candy like skittles and gummy bears. It’s ok to carry personal candy and snacks on a flight.
labrat420@reddit
You can do this on domestic flights in canada. It's because it's not federally legal in usa that you can't. Alcohol is legal.
Dreadsin@reddit (OP)
Let’s legalize it then just so my flights can be slightly more cozy
pth@reddit
I took 20mg as I was dropped off on my to Germany. It was a great flight. Now I am debating if I should figure out a way to get to Amsterdam before my flight home in a couple of weeks.
labrat420@reddit
Depending on where in Germany you are it should be pretty easy and fast to get over there and it's a beautiful city. Highly recommend it. We drove from Munich to Berlin to Amsterdam back to Berlin last time I was in Germany.
Mr_Saturn1@reddit
TSA couldn’t care less about your edibles. I have friends in Colorado that have been flying with them for years. Unless you’re moving weight, no one will notice or care.
TrayLaTrash@reddit
Who said you couldnt?
BeefWellingtonSpeedo@reddit
Actually, the stewardesses should dispense them for long plain voyages. (Modern problems require modern solutions)
barefootviking@reddit
