After making demands from Turkey, now Uganda's military chief is targeting Greece. Thoughts?

Please be careful with those tests. They often keep the rights to do what they want with your DNA results. Who knows if they will sell it to health insurance agencies to scan you for inherited diseases or something.
Jack55555@reddit
And what will they do with that info?
AnyAdvertising1214@reddit
In Na“i germany they would send sick people to the death camps. Imagine what they could have done with ai and health data
AntiKouk@reddit
In a more dark and distant future increase your private health care costs on the basis of genetic predispositions to certain diseases or linking it with government databases for other possible reasons
Proof-Ad62@reddit
I already saw a woman on YouTube who said her yearly checkup was no longer covered 'because the AI said so'. They literally denied her healthcare because of some AI gatekeeper. Granted that is the United States of Freedom, but still.
Dimmesdalea@reddit
Could be true bc there is a greek basketball player in NBA exactly look like this guy

So... you are a descendant of the Euryclids or something? Moved to N.Macedonia to stoke the fires between Macedonians of both sides "Macedonia is not Greece because Greece is Spartan."

He's related to Alexander the great. At least THAT we know

But how Greek was Alexander?
Odd-Weather-6195@reddit
He was Macedonian and his mother from Epirus . Today he would be considered Macedonian /Albanian. At his time though it was all part of the Greek nation so he was Greek
Elgecko123@reddit
Even using modern borders, Alexander was born in Greece. So today he would be considered Greek.

TiredOperator420@reddit
Are these tests even credible? I was thinking once of doing one but I doubt it makes any sense.
Orthodox-Paradox@reddit
As else someone said, you actually give them for free the right to study your DNA. If you search it a little further (conspiracy warning) you will see that many of those companies have ties with insurance companies or multinational corporatios. It is believed (based on some vague comments in the past WEFs) that companies want within the latter half of the century to be aware of our predesposition to disease in order to adjust premiums and manage hiring processes and terminations.
I know it sounds dystopic and far fetched, but honestly, in order to save a few bucks I wouldnt put it past multinational companies.
FloppyDiskDrives@reddit
100% credible. I thought it was just a gimmick until I downloaded my raw data. I ended up finding a direct Y-DNA link to the Hunyadi royal family after scientists sequenced their bones a couple of years ago. It completely validated my family's oral history and migration path. Do it, but definitely learn how to download and use your raw data file, that's where the actual science is.
My next step is to do a deeper paternal analysis to see exactly how far apart I am with the famous “Turk Buster”, the legend of Christendom, John Hunyadi (my great x30 cuz). 💪
ThickCaterpillar9867@reddit
John Hunyadi had ev13 y haplogroup ,pretty common in the balkans.
FloppyDiskDrives@reddit
For sure… E-V13 is the classic Paleo-Balkan signature.
But the fun part is the downstream terminal SNPs. The scientists sequenced his grandson's bones all the way down to a specific branch, and my raw data matched the E-Y7168 subclade. So the exact node where the Corvinus line branches off. Deep testing is wild when it gets past the broad categories.
ThickCaterpillar9867@reddit
I do not think that is possible the specific subclade formed like 2000 years ago and there are a lot of individuals carrying that subclade
FloppyDiskDrives@reddit
Look buddy I did my research on this over the past month, don’t shit on my parade. Haha joking joking.
You're thinking of the older parent branches. The specific 'Hunyadi cluster' node (E-Y7168) is actually much younger. The calculated TMRCA (Time to Most Recent Common Ancestor) for this exact split is mathematically dated by YFull and FTDNA to roughly 1200 years ago, right around the 8th/9th century. So it genuinely is an Early Medieval connection, not an ancient Roman one.
See for yourself: https://discover.familytreedna.com/y-dna/E-BY211533/tree
ThickCaterpillar9867@reddit
Idk but based on the Graph it looks like the split occurred 2200-1800 years ago
FloppyDiskDrives@reddit
Haha no worries, those FTDNA graphs are honestly a maze to read at first glance. You are totally right that the root node at the very top of the screen is from the Roman era (around 300 CE). But if you follow the blue line down to the specific node where the Hunyadi family (E-COR1) actually splits from the rest of the Balkan group, that happens at node E-FTC11923. If you trace a straight line from that split up to the timeline at the top, it lands right around 800-900 CE. So we are both right.. the broader branch is ancient, but this specific family split is medieval.
ThickCaterpillar9867@reddit
The e-cor1 of Hunyadi happens after 1000 ce but I meant the subclade itself is way older ,that means your y branch is either a direct descendant or you both share the same ancestor
FloppyDiskDrives@reddit
Exactly, a shared common ancestor. We both descend from the exact same grandfather around 800 CE. I'm actually thinking of coughing up 300 euros for a deep Y-scan soon so I can get even more precise and find closer relations.
ThickCaterpillar9867@reddit
Yeah but be careful what you wish ,there are like 1500 Albanians carrying that exact subclade🤣🤣🤣(kidding)
just_anotjer_anon@reddit
Time to find all 1500 of them and conquer the Aegean Islands
FloppyDiskDrives@reddit
Hahahahahahahahahahaahhahaha 💀
Archaeopteryx111@reddit
Yes, that’s because John Hunyadi was a magyarized Wallachian.
ThickCaterpillar9867@reddit
????
Archaeopteryx111@reddit
I’m saying he was a Balkan person from a Wallachian noble family, so it makes sense he has Balkan haplogroups.
ThickCaterpillar9867@reddit
Frankly speaking ,modern Hungarians carry around 10% of ev13 while modern Romanians around 15% ,kinda close
Archaeopteryx111@reddit
John Hunyadi was a magyarized Wallachian.
FloppyDiskDrives@reddit
Vlad was an absolute legend too when it comes to Turk busting. As for Hunyadi, the Romanian vs Hungarian debate was actually just settled by genetics in 2022.
They sequenced the Corvinus bones and found his direct paternal line (which my own DNA matched) originated in the Dinaric Alps of Herzegovina/Montenegro. His ancestors migrated north into Wallachia, which is why Hungarian records called his grandfather 'Serbe'. I understand this might trigger a debate lol. So technically our ancestors were Dinaric highlanders.
Archaeopteryx111@reddit
Oh interesting! I didn’t know that. I just know that there is pretty strong evidence that he was from a Wallachian noble family, so that’s why both Romanians and Hungarians claim him. Everyone is mixed in the end in our region.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hunyadi
FloppyDiskDrives@reddit
Exactly! That's the beauty of Balkan history. The Wallachian nobility aspect is totally real, which is why Romanians, Hungarians, and Serbs all have a legitimate claim to his legacy. He's actually a huge figure in Serbian epic poetry (we call him Sibinjanin Janko), and he had deep ties to our medieval rulers like Stefan Lazarević. Like you said, we are all mixed at the end of the day, and he is the ultimate shared legend for all of us.

Conscious_Patient184@reddit
This comment is not a joke bro. I was talking with my friends and I told them I will have a dna test. They told me that all those dna test companies are zionist and they are trying to make greek and armenian propaganda or sum. 😂😂
Odd-Weather-6195@reddit
Why would the Zionists Would like someone to be Greek. ?
AST360@reddit
They are not wrong, the "make x propaganda" part is a bit of overreach but I suggest you research more about those companies.
TiredOperator420@reddit
If anything, I was more concerned about where my DNA and personal data would end up going that about "x propaganda" thing.
AST360@reddit
Exactly, that is my point.

maybe they know Izmir guy too!

TiredOperator420@reddit
Yeah, this is mainly why I gave up. Giving DNA and other personal details to some company that is supposed to tell me what ancestry do I have based on genetics sounds not very smart.
5cozi@reddit
nothing will happen bro chill out, not everything is a conspiracy
erlikosauruss@reddit
Even so, what are these tests good for? I don’t believe they have any scientific value.
Voldypants_420@reddit
For me it was quite accurate. I took the one from Myheritage and I already knew that I'm 50% Macedonian (Greek), 25% Bosnian and 25% Turkish from my parents and grandparents.
It was not just super accurate but it also found some of my relatives living in Turkey, Greece and Germany who also took the test.
New_Lab1831@reddit
Yes, they are. Not deterministically so, but essentially: they take a part of your genome, extrapolate what the rest of it looks like off of that little part, and then plot it onto a larger genetic database to see the genetic distance you have to various other users/costumers.
Once you get the results from any of the big services, you can then request the raw data and play around with it yourself, seeing how your genetic data compares to that of ancient populations' DNA samples etc.
It's not going to give you definitive answers, but it's going to give you significant clues as to family history and regions your ancestors were active in.
5cozi@reddit
I took one on ancestry when I was in the uk with the details of a portuguese flatmate, we wanted to test them out and it turned out romanian and balkan, so they are pretty accurate
New_Lab1831@reddit
yep, exactly, they are. for me personally, it guessed my predominantly non-Romanian heritage as well (Slavic- Carpathic Ukrainian/Rusyn, and Polish)
Simple_Enjoyer1@reddit
I had an American friend who took such a test. Turns out, he is 1.smt smt % Nigerian. He didn't, but he was about to shout the N-word out. Yeah he was white.
At that moment, I realized who the target audience is for "products" like these

Not true. You can explicitly opt out of basically everything tertiary purpose that your data may be used for.

Conscious_Patient184@reddit

Please be careful. They keep the rights to do what they want with your DNA results. Who knows if they will sell it to health insurance agencies to scan you for inherited diseases or something.

In all seriousness, Anatolia was populated by- what the test at least considers- Greeks, when Ottomans rolled over it. Back then even after war the winner didn't displace and level the towns of the residents( any relation of this statement, to present events, is purely coincidental 🤣), so there is a lot of intermixing.

They are surprisingly accurate for the last couple generations. I have done one and tracked everything in the Balkans, Greece, Georgia from my Mom/Dad that we knew already. It even showed me distant cousins that already took the test that I didn’t know (they live outside of Turkey I don’t really have a relationship with them but I know their names).
Any Turk who does a DNA test however must be prepared with the soup of ethnicities that make up our country/region. Because ethnicity isn’t tied to Nationality we are all Turks but when you look at ethnicities because of our history everybody is a mix of like 5 countries.
