As an insurance adjuster, I can probably answer this question.

Since the son of Blutto had just bought that car last week there is a possibility that he hadn’t yet gotten it insured. While we just don’t know-lets assume he hadn’t. If he had existing insurance on another automobile, he is given a grace period to have coverage on a newly purchased car that sustains damages.

The claim would be for vandalism and since the owner had no knowledge of who Walter was, his damages would be covered.

Despite Walter being completely responsible for it, the guy’s insurance would have a hard time recovering even a most moderate amount of money from him because the guy’s insurance retaliated and tried to kill the Dude’s car.

While it’s not Walter’s car, they wouldn’t want to open themselves up to the possibility of a counter suit. After all, Donnie who loved bowling and in and out burgers was in the back seat when windows were getting broken and could have sustained injuries. Then there’s the Dude’s car. And lets not forget that parking on, on a side street with a no parking after 9 pm sign posted nearby…that ain’t legal either.
