I wanted to upgrade to a 9800X3d is my motherboard still good enough to i know i prob need to update bios and is there anything i need to look out for

Your motherboard is fine, you just need to update the bios. 5200mhz RAM, on the other hand…

X3D CPUs care a lot less about RAM speeds.
Urdnot_Flexx@reddit
They care a lot less about RAM latency, not RAM speed.

Incorrect. https://www.lttlabs.com/articles/2026/02/26/who-is-high-speed-ddr5-memory-actually-for

Interesting. I stand corrected, as much as I loathe looking at anything created by Linus.

sure but how much difference does it actually
PixelPete27@reddit
Not enough for you to pay outrageous prices to upgrade from 5200 to 6000, that's for sure brotha.
Your Mobo is good btw. Buy it the 9800x3d and enjoy yourself

ight i was considering 7800X3D but rn its on sale for me and the difference is not that big idk how much difference a 7800X3D is to a 9800X3D
Urdnot_Flexx@reddit
Apparently not that much, according to aragorn18’s linked article. Disregard.
PhantomLimb06@reddit
yes the motherboard can handle the 9800x3d
just update the bios to the lastest
aragorn18@reddit
Should be fine. Just make sure to update the BIOS.
