i’m still in school and its my first offer. i’m not gonna take it yet but is it normal to get this so easily? its like applying to amazon
Disastrous-East-1143@reddit
Everyone gets approved by Swift.... even if did with violent felonies... I found a better company to start with... good luck

Why sleep apnea test?
KoiwazuraiAi@reddit
Yes. They walk people all the time because drivers aren't the brightest. The first day of orientation 5 people got walked for pissing hot.
Individual_Wasabi669@reddit
Swift can suck it
Ye_Yuan@reddit
Waste Management, you’ll be happier.
Wazzymustard@reddit
Near me they want 1 year of driving before you apply
Accomplished_Rub4898@reddit
Same here in Cali
OneMulatto@reddit
Make more too and be home every night with weekends off (outside of holidays pushed to Saturday or scheduled clean ups)
Top-Confidence4496@reddit
I wouldn't get all high and mighty just because you got this. You a got a lot of hoops to jump through before you're officially an employee.
Sure_Try6958@reddit
Yes But even if everything goes well they can still terminate the contract days before orientation for zero reasons and they won’t tell you why. I was supposed to go to swift after cdl school and 4 days before orientation they denied everything. I did a year with Schneider and it was rough the first six months
seem92@reddit
Schneider did me dirty. Passed everything even the final roast test. 2 days before I was suppose to go to a trainer they made me do another road test. Passed that one and now they making excuses like i can't back. Literally every time I back it in it's another excuse like if it was something in this empty spot you would have hit it. They ended up dropping me. The day I got dropped they literally had another student from the previous orientation hit a trailer and they passed him.
cheesecake-gnome@reddit
I was sitting in orientation and they decided they didn’t want me lmao
Would not give me a reason why.
ZealousidealAngle151@reddit
Hair test? Dang
refrained@reddit
Often times, they can't proceed further without giving you a conditional offer. So this has to be done and signed before the next steps can be taken, such as running some reports, scheduling pre-employment DT, etc etc.
SexyWampa@reddit
Yeah, it's that easy. As long as you have a pulse and there's a good enough chance that you'll continue to have a pulse, you're good. Never seen the sleep study requirement though, that's a new one.
MrWisdom_1994Stx@reddit
After that they put you in a room with other drivers for orientation for 8hrs or maybe 2 days or so depending if they have the time to complete it in 1 day. And if you’re applying for flatbed they make you do physical test to see if you can carry a tarp with ease and go up and down the flat bed. Once everything is done they set you up with a trainer, remember if you don’t get along with your trainer you can ALWAYS get in contact with your recruiter and ask for another trainer. Luckily I didn’t need to call for another trainer cus the one they put me with was really patient and fun at times to work with and showed me the whole gig.
kaneabel@reddit
Um, why urine AND hair sample?
ThatHellacopterGuy@reddit
Urine for DOT Safety-Sensitive, and hair for the company.
SoggyPopp@reddit
First driving job? It’s either Long haul or local food service. Go with food service. It will make you a better driver and backer-upper. You put in work with food service but you’re well compensated. Sleep in your own bed. Stay with it for at least a year and then you can look for other local companies or do long haul.
firemarshalbill316@reddit
Yep
DumatRising@reddit
Big companies have a high demand for drivers due to turn over rates in the industry and them not offering a better deal than the smaller companies, so it's not unusual to get conditional job offers while still in school or hell some companies run their own schools and will give you a conditional job offer as a part of applying to that school.
All this means is that if you sign it and you get your CDL, you then have to attempt to complete/pass the points they listed (which are just a fancy way of saying normal job stuff plus a drug test and license check). Upon the successful completion of those you'll then be fully hired into Swift and receive a bit of compensation for the time.
If you don't sign it nothing will happen, if you do sign it but don't get your CDL nothing will happen, and if you do sign it and do get your CDL swift will expect you to follow through but afaik you or they can terminate the agreement for any reason unless someone is is making you sign it as part of an offer to cover tuition then it usually comes with a lot more legal baggage since money is now involved. I don't recommend signing multiple, just one.
As far as if you should sign with swift, you could wait for other offers but as far as carriers that are willing to hire a newbie with no experience goes swift isn't the worst option. Pay will be a bit shit but that's true of any mega, company is gonna be a bit of a mess but that's also true of any mega, but they also look the other way for all the minor fuck ups a newbie makes which can be a good and a bad thing. Good that you'll just get a slap on wrist at most but bad in that as long as you aren't the worst driver they don't really try to help you improve which can lead to bad habits.
Ok_Bug_6470@reddit
They literally only make the money if a driver is a moving the truck and a hauling the freight. Do your due diligence.
CalmAnxitey87@reddit
For swift yeah it's actually a good analogy with Amazon they have a revolving door hiring process
Baconated-Coffee@reddit
Yes, it's a conditional pre hire offer. They won't check your MVR and do a background check until you get your license. As long as you were honest on your application and you pass a drug screen then you should be good.
OptimalTennis8498@reddit
Yes. It’s a mega carrier that’s always desperate for drivers. I got one from them too before I even started CDL school somewhere in my email.
DStew88@reddit
Very normal. Hiring and "training" new drivers are how large companies like Swift run their business
