Europeans that initially came to Malta for work/studies, which of you actually settled down here? What made you stay instead of going home like most people after 1-2 years?

The thought of moving there is really tempting but im just worried that it's an island of constantly revolving door of people when it comes to residents

Housing crisis?
In densely populated areas such as Malta, Netherlands, Luxembourg, it's much more difficult to find an affordable place.

But how do u get a german salary? I see for 3YEO finance u get maybe 35-40k gross

People who work in online advertising or in IT often keep working in Western Europe remotely, while living in the South. Average remote workers get 30-40k, which more than enough to live in Malta in an average apartment.
I work in the Netherlands in retail for 25-30k per year, so this option is clearly not for me. I can't work remotely.

In Malta, they have tons of customer support and non-technical IT jobs that pay roughly the same of what you make in the Netherlands in retail. They actually pay a lot for Dutch speakers , you should look into it

Malta is full of Maltese who never leave. English is an official language, so just befriend locals and don't stay in an expat bubble.
I've only been visiting a few times so can't talk about long-term friendships, but it was very easy to get in touch with people.
