Best e bike under 2000
Posted by batman1336@reddit | ebikes | View on Reddit | 50 comments
Hey there,
Looking to get an e bike. My budget is somewhere under 2000. I’ve been trying to do research but there are A LOT of options and I’m not sure which ones are actually good or just rip offs.
I’m looking for:
- a bike that doesn’t look like a dirt bike. (Cops in my town are rough about that)
- reliable
-new
-good brand
- best bang for your buck (speed, charge, durability)
- and lastly something that does well on roads and dirt/grass
Any help would be much appreciated. Like I e said I’ve tried to research but there are so many it’s hard to know what’s actual specs and what’s false claims.
THANKS

the best ebike for under $2000 is the Philodo Falcon

If you're by chance looking for a emoto bike skeri edboo is underrated imo $1000 buck then u can turn around with $2000 and get different tires handle bar riser n some others if u wanted jus throwing it out there

I recently bought a Velotric Discover 3. It’s very comfortable and pretty powerful. It’s $1,999.
ThriftianaStoned@reddit
Check if you have any Velotric dealers nearby. If you are in California there are plenty
Baybricker@reddit
Trek fx+1 — slightly outside the budget @ $2100 but a very reliable bike with good range, 28mph etc
ViolaSwag@reddit
Lectric is going to be your best bang for your buck for direct to consumer, and Aventon is probably your best bet if you want to have the option of having it serviced at a local bike shop
Extreme_Health_9827@reddit
I just bought the PHILODO falcon dual motor love it. $1,599

As you know there are a lot of choices. To narrow it down I'd look for a bike that is sold through a dealer near you. You want a place you can take the bike for warranty service or service in general. Ebikes do break sometimes and you want a place you can take the bike and say "fix it". A lot of shops won't work on bikes they don't sell.

So true…

The aventon level 3 i have is great. Put almost 1200 miles on it since October. Look at the level 4s that have come out now (rec for under 2k, adv if you want more range and fancier features)
raaxas@reddit
I recently bought a gazelle (new 0 miles) from upway for 1750. All quality components. That would be my recommendation
Humble_Key_4259@reddit
Do you have any local shops that sell ebikes? I recommend checking things out in-person and test rides IF you have that option.
batman1336@reddit (OP)
Unfortunately not. Nearest one is two towns over.
Humble_Key_4259@reddit
How far is that?
batman1336@reddit (OP)
GPS says 2.5 hours. Not terrible but still a drive.

Based on what we sell and build (mechanic) at the LBS Id say pick something from Velotric [Summit, Breeze, Tempo], Euphree [City Robin/Stellar Falcon], Wired [Any model] (if on sale), or Mokwheel [forgot what we sell a lot of, might want to stay away from Scoria].
Id stay away from knockoff brands, Lectric (way underpowered/cheaply manufactured), Himiway, Heybike, Pedego, older Aventons (lack good customer support/engineering/parts), QuietCat, and quite a few others.

take a look at these and see if anything catches your eye. they're all from majob bike brands, high quality and easy to service/maintain.
Sillycommisioner987@reddit
Get an Aventon level 4 rec, and have the bike shop you buy it from put a set of schwalbe marathon plus tires and add some flat out. It’s obviously an e bicycle and not an e motorbike. It will be able to handle dirt roads and gravel and will be a great commuter bike. With a good warranty and a decent dealer network.

Love my Aventon Adventure 2 and eMTB Ramblas. Issue free beyond general maintenance.
Best thing is, my local bike shop sells Aventon and is happy to work on them and do any needed repairs if needed in the future.
OP, I would recommend checking your local bike shops, see what eBikes they sell and if they have any affordable options. If they sell the brand, in most cases they'll be happy to help with that brand whether you purchase through them or online.
batman1336@reddit (OP)
Unfortunately we don’t have a local bike shop where I live.

Take a serious look at the Mokwheel Obsidian. I take mine 16 miles each way to work every day through hilly roads and paths in about 45 minutes and still have about 20% charge leftover. I love having full suspension, really helps on the long rides! My wife and I both got Mokwheel Basalts a few years ago and mine got stolwn ao I upgraded, otherwise we'd still both have our originals with a few thousand miles eaxh on them. If yiu have any queations fewl free to reach out =)

Aventons are too overpriced for what they are imo, and their sales aren't as good. Look at Bulls bikes as they are having really steep sales right now, they're very high quality, and I've been very happy with mine. They're basically SUV of bikes.
weregeek@reddit
Lectric, Velotric, and Aventon tend to be the value leaders in this price range. If you can stretch a little, the Troxus Trax Mid-Drive is a lot of bike for the money at $2100. In addition, local shops around me seem to have a lot of heavily discounted old stock from Giant, Momentum, Trek, and Cannondale at the moment. If those outlets don't work out for you, check out upway.co for used bikes. If you're able to assess them, or have a friend who can help, then the remaining places to look are marketplace and craigslist.

This is good budget, don't laugh, take a look on Engwe fat tyres bikes...many models under this budget and good support... 2 years without a any problems...👍

Riding any kind of bike on grass is a very bad idea. It is very easy to be thrown off the bike by ground imperfections which the grass hides rather well.

Was on a rental fleet. Under 300 miles. Bosch mid drive. Only way to get one at that price point.
CORockhound@reddit
There are no quality bike options under about 3k us with legit components - shimano Bosch etc. I did find a close out hard tail rei brand coop Bike with Bosch motor for $1900 but I think I bought the last two. Best bet is to call every shop in town see if they have anything from last year. You get what you pay for

Lie. Urtopia is a fantastic brand.
AntEaterApocalypse@reddit
Those are rebranded bikes from China. They're all over Alibaba under different names.
Admirable_Chicken898@reddit
And I just did some googling and I don’t see any information about whatever it is that you’re claiming to be true. So it seems like whatever you’re saying it’s just a false statement.
AntEaterApocalypse@reddit
You can literally do a reverse image search on Alibaba and find them.
Admirable_Chicken898@reddit
OK, that literally doesn’t mean anything. Anybody can steal anybody’s image doesn’t mean that what arrives at your house actually is the same thing. Have you personally ordered one? Have you not seen the several videos I mean thousands of videos on YouTube and TikTok of people ordering shit on Alibaba and temu that come and arrive and literally look absolutely nothing like what is that they ordered?
AntEaterApocalypse@reddit
Ah, fake bot account.

Btw go smoke some weed or take a Xanax or something or get laid for the first time in your life you sound like you’re miserable and your life sucks
Admirable_Chicken898@reddit
OK will go ahead and purchase that rebranded bike from China and try getting it serviced at a shop or getting any replacement parts or any customer service and then get back to me about how it’s the same bike. Even if that is entirely true, a lot of the time having the ability to have your bike serviced and get replacement parts and have any sort of help is the difference that people are looking for
CORockhound@reddit
Good luck getting the turd you posted serviced. Any Chinesium build is all the same. Hub Motors fukin suck anyways

There’s literally a Utopia store right next to where I live

Is it great bike? I personally have the urtopia carbon fold2 and love it. With the purchase of a second battery it was about $2100.00 lots of bike shops work on them. Since they’re carbon fiber, they’re incredibly light. The one I have goes about 95+ miles and is about 30 lbs. The cargo one that I linked is a little bit better for all terrain and is unbelievably comfortable. I’m on the smaller side so these bikes work for me. As it was very hard to find one for a woman, my size however they have lots of other bikes that work well for people that are larger stature.
Nervous-Iron2473@reddit
Total BS. Under $3k look at Aventon, Electric, Volotric. Even Ride1up

aventon

I'm liking the Segways right now. Myon, and muxi, feel premium. Robust motors and so much tech. The xafari is decent, but not as up to date.
ZestycloseMonk1988@reddit
Just buy it from a local shop. It’s the only way you’ll have a place that will repair it. Aventon has worked reliably for my family
lovallo@reddit
Lectric E-Bike are the apex of price and performance I think. A lot of different models, many available used.
NOT super high quality components, but plenty good.
WisconsinGB@reddit
I bought an aventon level bike, it was last year's rental model 2 years ago so the bike is like 3 years old now. I've put probably 8-10k miles on in in the last two years up here in Alaska and it's been an absolute work horse. I've ridden it through rain and snow storms and it runs just like I got it. Battery life is great, I can get it up to 28mph peddling, has a throttle that cruises at 20mph. It's a normal tire not the fat one. But I'd look into aventon most shops should work on it. The only issues I've had with it was I broke the display once and I've popped a couple tires. But the bike is a work horse.
