CrackAsteroid@reddit
Almost impulse bought this but the boys in VA need it more than me
Recent-Honey5564@reddit
We appreciate you. I’m not sure what I’d even do with these but I think ima do it
kayl_breinhar@reddit
Just a reminder to VA people like myself - it's not enough just to BUY stripped lowers.
You have to ensure they're COMPLETED lowers by 7/1, because assembling them after that date constitutes "construction," which is illegal. So try and find the shit-cheapest parts kits, buffer tubes, and stocks that you can to go along with any "just in case" lowers you buy, since once the lowers are fully constructed, it's still legal to replace the components. For now.
No-Plenty1982@reddit
There is no reason to believe that VA is using anything but the ATFs definition of manufacture till someone is charged as such.
DexterBotwin@reddit
Could you technically use the same parts and just assemble each, take a picture, disassemble, repeat? I mean if you can’t, does that mean you can never modify the grip or stock once assembled ?
kayl_breinhar@reddit
Pretty sure once it's completed, it's still legal in VA to swap out components on a grandfathered firearm/serialized item. My reading of the idiotic law is that doing so on a previously stripped lower post-7/1 constitutes "construction."
Coyoteishere@reddit
“Construction” is not a word that exists in the bill. The unknown is how “manufacture” will be applied which they did not define. Their intent is absolutely against people assembling but that doesn’t mean it will stand a legal test. An argument can be made that a stripped lower is an “other” and you assembling into a rifle or pistol is “manufacturing”, but again until someone gets charged and a court decides, we won’t know. They will likely update the language at some point, because stripped lowers will be available after the ban, and if it’s shown that “manufacture” doesn’t include assembling, then the ban is all but useless as people will buy legal stripped lowers and build what they want.
MK12Mod0SuperSoaker@reddit
If they had it their way, just taking your gun apart for cleaning and putting it back together would constitute manufacturing.
Artistic-Breakfast26@reddit
NO ONE HAS INTERPRETED IT THAT WAY. do you have a source for this?
kayl_breinhar@reddit
Yeah, my local gun store, XCAL in Ashburn VA.
Recent-Honey5564@reddit
Ahh Xcal….lol the bourgeoisie of the gun community
kayl_breinhar@reddit
Every "gun store with a range" in NoVA is bougie. SEG started out trying to be a country club with guns. Now they're narcs with the best indoor 50y ranges since NRA is an ogre cave.
MK12Mod0SuperSoaker@reddit
Oh sharpshooters, where I've been flagged more times than idk, something that gets flagged a lot.
Someone mentioned their ventilation doesn't work right and shooters are constantly breathing in each others cancer vapors. Although, I did appreciate that they didn't give a fuck when I brought binaries/FRTs.
richiecotite@reddit

Rest in Power!
kayl_breinhar@reddit
All these data centers could become baller indoor ranges - all that needs to happen is for AI to die on the vine.
Recent-Honey5564@reddit
NRA ogre cave is hilarious. You really would think the NRA headquarters out of all places would have something better to offer.
kayl_breinhar@reddit
At least it's got covered parking. vOv
Kozak170@reddit
Those guys are morons so this advice checks out
lime3@reddit
Gun store clerks are notoriously poor interpreters of the law, especially at large shops like XCAL (and I love that store mind you)
BobBBobbington@reddit
How on Earth would the state ever prove that? Or is it a case of parts are banned also?
cyclorphan@reddit
Prove it or not, it's not unusual for states doing things like this to use any excuse it can to turn someone's life upside down, even with no real evidence. Probably not super likely but as VA seems to be taking cues from CA and NY, their rather zealous AG may just cause a lot of trouble for folks they deem out of compliance. VA state police and most sheriffs in the state aren't interested though.
RONBJJ@reddit
Was just going to say this lol.
lime3@reddit
How are they gonna know you assembled it after that date?
kayl_breinhar@reddit
They wouldn't, but I plan on building all of mine out and taking a timestamped picture just in case. It's stupid, it's paranoid, but this entire situation is stupid.
bubbathedesigner@reddit
Some credit unions will notarize documents for free
Unusual_Platform8318@reddit
By the time they audit you AI would be good enough to create a fake picture that's indistinguishable
texag93@reddit
Just saying, a newspaper only establishes that a picture was taken after a certain date, not before. You could take a picture with the same newspaper at a later date. It wouldn't prove anything.
enNova@reddit
I think exif/metadata is good enough where you could just take a photo, but then you'd have to prove that should an issue arise.
texag93@reddit
Not really, they'd have to prove that you did it after.
enNova@reddit
Sure, but sometimes it’s more “guilty until proven innocent” though.
Vindictive_Turnip@reddit
In America, as much as we like to claim the opposite, it is almost always guilty until proven innocent.
All you have to do is look at how we treat people who haven't been convicted.
Peoples lives are thrown off course quickly after being arrested.
It only takes a few days of no call no show to lose your job, and after you get out, every background search will show you were arrested.
Then if you don't have family to take care of pets/your stuff in your apartment, you likely lose it.
Sure, you could post bail in most cases, but that's not universal. It can take days. Enough to lose your job. Which means losing healthcare.
Then comes financial ruin. Good luck proving your innocence without a lawyer. Public defenders job is to save the state money.
I won't dive into the horror show police are. 0.0% DUI's are becoming a huge problem.
Electronic-Funny-475@reddit
Just build one and swap lower 3 times
TubeSockLover87@reddit
I dont think youre wrong at all.
I'd be doing more than physical photos, even upload them to somewhere that can timestamp the upload and save indefinitely.
Email them to yourself which is another timestamp.
Also keep the photos on a usb drive or sd card that never touch the net ever again.
Make sure you name the files:
In_a_way_that_makes_them_less_likely_to_get_accidently_corrupted
^Like so. No spaces, all underscores.
Low_Individual7789@reddit
This is like the shit in Massachusetts that happened 2 years ago. Of course I missed the train to have my LTC and buy lowers, so now I get to pay $1000 for stripped lowers that are loosely “grandfathered” in.
gogogadgetar15@reddit
Just take a non compliant upper put it on each lower and snap a pic. Boom they have all been in assault weapon configuration before 7/1
swohio@reddit
They are completed lowers, they're already firearms. The rest of the parts shouldn't matter. 80% lowers I could see an argument for though.
Electronic-Funny-475@reddit
Yeah ok. Cause they’re gonna know.
FlyingBasset@reddit
Is there any actual standing that assembling something is the same as manufacturing? I thought in all prior cases those have been very clearly different?
As in if someone disassembles and reassembles their suppressor suddenly they're a manufacturer?
Recent-Honey5564@reddit
Yeah I feel that. Again don’t know how they could possible figure that out or hold that to any real legality in court if it came to that.
It’s a good idea but if I can only get lowers I’ll at least do that.
kayl_breinhar@reddit
They couldn't prove it, but if they really wanted to, they could force a burden of proof on you. It feels like all of this bullshit is going to be used as a cudgel to make the possession and curation of guns not worth it.
That's what I've never understood about the fervently anti-gun sort. The question they should be asking isn't "why do you feel you need guns," it should be "why would you so willingly inconvenience yourself?" Owning firearms near DC and MD in Northern VA, you have to become an amateur gun law "expert" to know where you can legally go with firearms. If you accidentally drop a single round of ammunition in your car and don't collect it, and then drive into DC, if your car is stopped and/or searched, it's a goddamned felony if/when they find the unfired round. Or if you get off at the wrong exit on I-395 and wind up on the grounds of the Pentagon, even if you're intending to make a U-turn. This entire area was a briar patch BEFORE these fucking laws came along, so while people can decry my OP as hyperbolic...I don't want to give them any ammunition (pun intended) to fuck with me.
Bitter_Bandicoot8067@reddit
That is not how criminal law (generally) works in the US. I know things in VA may seem bleak, but it is still part of the US.
TorqueWaffle@reddit
We don't actually know that yet. Manufacturing is defined by the ATF as the process of making something for sale. The current proposed Virginia legislation reads as manufacturing not assembling.
IllSkyHelix111@reddit
use your brain
RegardedDipshit@reddit
That's illegal in VA
PutridDropBear@reddit
instructions unclear -- this is reddit sir
mojo4sale@reddit
VA boy here and just missed out :/
xbuzzbyx@reddit

Appreciated. In for a set
Suitable_Lie1593@reddit
Appreciate you bro
Off-Da-Ricta@reddit
Ah shit another state goes down? Buy buy buy dudes I remember when my state banned . Pull out the credit cards and occupy those lowers straightaway.
iFightForOurRights@reddit
Bring back the $29 Poverty Pony lowers!
Intermediate_Eddie@reddit
30 dollar lowers have shifted to 50 dollars. Should've listened to the guys here and stocked up last year...
TheSlipperySnausage@reddit
I was glad I got 10+ lowers right before they announced poverty pony was going the way of the dodo.
33.33 a pop felt like a solid deal
Kozak170@reddit
Seriously like what the hell happened? I’m looking to stock up now and I might not even bother at this point. Maybe just get one good ambi lower instead.
WoozyKinkajou@reddit
I miss the instore $30 blem psa stealth lowers. No transfer fees was nice.
RegardedDipshit@reddit
Poverty pony broke a leg and took a 12 gauge slug to the head and then was beat with a shovel.
RaccoonReplacement@reddit (OP)
Can we even have that in 2026? Everything costs $20 to just look at most times

AdIndividual6256@reddit
I left these for the va boys, will pick up some once ban is in place
Longjumping_Time932@reddit
Are these high shelf, low shelf, or M16 pocket?
Bubbly-Celery-4096@reddit
Any update?
RegardedDipshit@reddit
Low shelf
CaseAdministrative13@reddit
Which is better? If I wanted to do super safety or frt or just regular semi would these be able to do all of the above?
RegardedDipshit@reddit
Low shelf or M16 cut is preferred to high shelf
Ryceballs@reddit
Those those who wants visual of the NOLO lower. I tried my best to get the angles nolo shelfs
JakePrior54@reddit
Thanks for the pictures. How are the fitments?
Silent-Wonder6546@reddit
Not a bad price but VA bros need them more
theunstopable_cam@reddit
Thank you. I just ordered so it wasn't in vain.
Apprehensive-Cod95@reddit
Brotherhood is recognized
BilboDabinz@reddit
I don’t have any plans to build anything, but I guess these aren’t getting any cheaper. Might as well keep em around until they get lost next time we move.
nobodysbeach@reddit
Z z
SethRory@reddit
Picked these up earlier today when I got the email from ar15discounts
....no idea why I need 3 lowers but maybe just submit them for Form 1 and have them ready to go if I decide I need to build something
RaccoonReplacement@reddit (OP)
Zero reason to not do a form 1. If you don’t build no one will know. If you do later, you’re all set.
Shock-Broad@reddit
Rip Anderson 3 for $90
burritoresearch@reddit
RIP ballistic advantage branded m4e1 at $59 each, which was a thing for a while, if you used the right coupon code.
Electronic-Funny-475@reddit
I’ve got enough of em. Hell my brother bought out his buddy’s stock when he shut down his store. He got some great lowers for nothing then lost his Andersons in my pond during a tornado while on a paddle boat. Tragic accident
RegardedDipshit@reddit
I bought these last time around, they're good. Finish is more of a gray-black than black, so that might bother some people depending on your build.
Another cheaper option is Matrix. I bought a couple of these as well but haven't done anything with them so can't really speak to tolerances/etc., only that they look fine. Others here can add their input on matrix https://www.matrixarms.com/product/5-56-stripped-lower/
Crazykirsch@reddit
How did you handle the FFL info for Matrix?
I was looking at the two pack of the lowers you linked but wasn't sure how they wanted FFL info provided and haven't gotten a response using the site's contact form.
RegardedDipshit@reddit
They emailed me requesting FFL info after the order.
Synctyr@reddit
I e-mailed their contact e-mail listed at the bottom of their site very recently with the same question and this is what they replied with:
Me: hey do i put the FFL info in the "Ship to different address" section?
Allen: thats the best way but you can also just tell us which FFL via order notes or email. We will always ship to the FFL and ignore the ship to address for serialized parts
dicklibby@reddit
They’re very slow to respond and didn’t really answer half the questions I tried asking. After a couple weeks trying to contact on the contact form and the listed email, I eventually just ordered some last week and on Monday a random email reached out asking for my ffl info. When I placed the order, I originally emailed my ffl to the email listed on their site. I haven’t received them yet to know the quality but I should get some soon to see. Not sure why they don’t have anything for the ffl info or even anything about ffl on the email confirmation. But someone will reach out if you place an order.
themaskedfister@reddit
Assuming you'd get FFL fees on all three?
RaccoonReplacement@reddit (OP)
Some are like $35 +$10 each serialized item. I think that’s what mine does.
xKHAZx@reddit
depends on if your FFL is cool or gay
captain_carrot@reddit
My FFL guy is a total G - he charges $20 per form and transferred 3 firearms in one transaction for a single charge. Hell the last time I went in a couple weeks ago he wasn't even going to charge me anything but I insisted he take the cash.
Electronic-Funny-475@reddit
Mine is weird sometimes. He’s all over the place. But he’s about to be my SOT guy so we will see.
Crazykirsch@reddit
Gotta love when your local FFLs charge a strict $50 per item transfer fee.
LlTER-O-COLA@reddit
Snagged a pack. VA homies rejoice
polyawn@reddit
High shelf, low shelf, or m16?
monoch1@reddit
Not familiar with lower terms. What does the high/low or m16 shelf mean?
polyawn@reddit
https://www.reddit.com/r/supersafety/comments/1mudsfr/high_shelf_vs_low_shelf_vs_m16_cut_lowers/ some are better than others for different trigger types, (cassette triggers, super safeties, etc.) as far as I understand.
monoch1@reddit
Appreciate it thanks.
SwissChzMcGeez@reddit
4 months ago this was $129
SwissChzMcGeez@reddit
Oh man, god forbid I give people a factual, relevant data point. /s
JohnSMosby@reddit
Supply and demand + inflation, how do they work
RaccoonReplacement@reddit (OP)
4 months and only $10 more? I’m not complaining.
Arec_Barwin@reddit
Four months ago gas and diesel were cheaper too.
DarkSideOfTheNuts@reddit
VA and RI rejoice!
A_Squid_A_Dog@reddit
$160 shipped to MO
9guy99@reddit
Same to MN
_r_special@reddit
Same to MI
alwaysrockon@reddit
Are these g2g?
RegardedDipshit@reddit
They're fine, nothing special, should work. It's more of a matte gray-black so if you care a lot about esthetics these ain't for you
RaccoonReplacement@reddit (OP)
I bought. I’ve heard good things about the NOLO. As for the dealer very g2g. I’ve ordered twice so far and saved a lot.
Financial-Sir-6021@reddit
Decent price for these days. Have good experience with Dirty Bird/AR15 Discounts in the past, but does anyone know potential OEM on these?
Off-Da-Ricta@reddit
WA is gay
Random_Username311@reddit
How are these? I’ve been looking at Griffin MK1’s to stock pile.. This is tempting though
RaccoonReplacement@reddit (OP)
Why not add some variety for the sake of it? Not like they aren’t compatible with other parts
therealPangea@reddit
I only have one of these. Magwell is a bit tight and a milspec friction fit flared magwell fits loose on it. Same flared magwell fits tight on all my other lowers. Finish was a shade or two lighter than expected. Other than that, it feels solid and everything fit as expected. Would buy again.
Huge_Jellyfish4684@reddit
Picked these up for my first AR builds. price per lower was cheaper than anything around me in store, even after FFL fees. waiting on the upper but construction seems solid and installing lower parts was easy enough
