9600x vs 7500x3d

Hello, i am currently finishing my build and i am deciding between these two cpus. It will be paired with 32gb ram and my old 1660 super until i upgrade to 5060ti/5070 later this year. I play mostly cpu heavy games like total war titles, helldivers 2, darktide, hoi4 and wow. What would be the better option, the 7500x3d is roughly 50$ more. Is the extra worthy for the extra L3 cashe of the x3d chip ?

7500x3D is only slightly better in gaming and significantly worse at everything else. Personally id take the 9600x even as someone who mostly plays similar games.
Gamers nexus do stellaris simulation benches which show the 9600x and 7800x3d running about on par. the 7500X3d would do significantly worse on this test and thats directly applicable to HOI4 and an analogue for other strategy games with similar simulation elements.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been wondering I know that everybody defaults to the x3d answer but saw benchmarks where the 9600x was outperforming the 7500x3d in tw warhammer 3 by like 30 fps. That’s why I asked

If its for gaming mainly, get the x3d, its more than worth it

I'm personally using a 7600x3d and I gotta say I don't see any differences compared to the 7800x3d I used before. Its a great value high fps cpu and compared to the 9600x I think its worth the slight increase.

I think this needs to be told more often. Sure the 7800x3D is faster, but when you're already well into the diminishing returns that extra speed basically isn't felt. Like 180 vs 200 FPS really feels the same.
It's only in a few yeas (6? 7?) when there is a game where the 7600x3D might struggle where that extra speed from the 7800x3D comes into play, but at that point some new CPUs are out.

For cpu heavy games, yes. The only cpu heavy game I play is civ 6 and the initial load time from my 7600 was similar but the in-between rounds is crazy fast.

According to the testing Hardware Unboxed has done the 7500x3d is faster but of course that will change depending on the games and such.
