With conversion you will have a nice lightweight E-Bike. I have easily transported two converted bikes with batteries removed with a regular good quality bike rack. Often to go riding in the local forest preserves.

Treks would work fine. Lots of you tube videos to show you how to do it. I have converted three bikes so far. torque sensor mid drives are superior to cadence sensor . You will ride more often because it's so much more fun. You mentioned forest preserves. Are you in the Chicago area? Feel free to DM me if you have any questions.
