Just accidentally saw this is on Hulu!

I grew up watching a lot of questionable stuff, but my next door neighbor was from a gentler family. I would go over there to spend the night when we were kids. We would always end up watching SNICK and the let it bleed into Nick at Nite. We had no real reference to F Troop or Dobie Gillis or Ernie Kovacs, but it was just something we always fell asleep watching in the wee hours.

For us elder elder millennials, the original lineup of
Clarissa Explains it all The Roundhouse Ren and Stimpy Are you afraid of the Dark
Was peak television
That-Jeweler-Girl@reddit
That was a great line up. Always loved Clarissa! Don't lie, you hear this!
PoolGuyUnfiltered@reddit
La la la-la-la, la luh la luh la
HerbaDerbaSchnerba@reddit
And the day before that, you had ABC’s TGIF lineup.
Full House
Family Matters
Boy Meets World
Dinosaurs
I feel like I’m forgetting one.
GreenApples8710@reddit
The first (I think it was first...if not, it was earlier than this one was):
Full House Family Matters Perfect Strangers Just the Ten of Us
Boy Meets World, Dinosaurs, Step by Step and Hangin' with Mr Cooper rotated later on.
brainvheart143@reddit (OP)
Omg was it Step by Step?
HerbaDerbaSchnerba@reddit
Yes!
brainvheart143@reddit (OP)
Not to be confused with the NKOTB song
mrheh@reddit
I think it was doug, rugrats, clarissa, ren and stimpy, are you afraid of the dark. Than switch channels to unsolved mysteries followed by sightings. This was in the early middle 90's for me. Around the time that movie the phantom was always on hbo and when that movie Gotti came out on hbo
Blackbird136@reddit
Also I have Paramount…might do a full rewatch of Are You Afraid of the Dark. At age 44 hahaha. There are probably a few episodes I never saw, though tbh I would catch the reruns on cable sometimes up until maybe a decade ago. No shame. 😂
brainvheart143@reddit (OP)
I’m trying to remember which episode, there is a girl in a mirror and that fucked with us so bad. I can’t wait to rewatch.
e3thomps@reddit
Literally the second episode, it's the reason my wife is scared of people in the mirrors to this day
brainvheart143@reddit (OP)
She’s a smart lady
ScreenTricky4257@reddit
This is just a reminder, Roundhouse is awesome.
PraetorianXVIII@reddit
The absolute best evening
TimeCadet@reddit
Wow I think Roundhouse is the line that puts me into elder millennial territory vs Xennial because I have zero recollection of this show. Might be just that I was tuning into In Living Color instead because of a young "James" Carrey and the Wayans
katie_cat_eyes@reddit
I am pretty sure after Are You Afraid of the Dark, I Love Lucy would be on, too!
brainvheart143@reddit (OP)
Oh right bc Nick at Night was actually on Nick then.
Blackbird136@reddit
My dad (born 1945) genuinely loved Roundhouse lol. Not like he would just suffer through it because 10 year old me liked it…he loved it on his own haha.
brainvheart143@reddit (OP)
I love that. It was like The State or Living in Color for kids! I think I appreciated it more bc my parents always appreciated a good sketch show too, and showed us the SNL etc
impliedapathy@reddit
I watched everything here except roundhouse. It doesn’t ring a bell at all despite googling it and looking at the lead actors. Still clueless 😂. Guess I somehow missed that show.
AeonFluxIncapacitaor@reddit
You nailed it.
brainvheart143@reddit (OP)
They need to bring back Clarissa and Roundhouse next lol. I was so sad to see she’s crazy now.
So ironic that she grew up in the most liberal of households on the show. Who knows what was happening irl 🙄
Admirable_Bank9927@reddit
This was my Saturday night!
RelevantElection2962@reddit
Same. It was the best part of my week.
MoarFlavor@reddit
Late night TV in the ‘80s and ‘90s in general was absolutely amazing. Horror hosts, USA UP All Night, Freddy’s Nightmares, Friday the 13th, Tales from the Darkside, Saturday Nightmares, etc etc. — I still try to find blocks of these shows with commercials included. Great times! I miss the era of really fun late night TV.
RatedC87@reddit
Always preferred this over ABC’s TGIF growing up.
PatchworkGirl82@reddit
TGIF was great when Dinosaurs was part of the line up. And the time all the main shows, like Full House and Family Matters, went to Walt Disney World.
That-Jeweler-Girl@reddit
Dinosaurs was a great show! I re-watched it not that long ago, it still holds up very well.
truefriend29@reddit
"Dinosaurs" was a good show. It was the baby that yelled, "Knock the mama!"👦🏾☺️🙂😉😊🤭📺📡
Blackbird136@reddit
I liked both, but yes, same.
Funkdamentalist@reddit
The Tale of the Dead Man's Float
DarwinGoneWild@reddit
I thought this thread was going to be about the sound Wolverine's claws made.
Ryanookami@reddit
That would be “Snikt!”
brainvheart143@reddit (OP)
I feel like that’s more of a SWICK!
phoenix0r@reddit
I loved SNICK. Made me feel so superior over my friends who didnt have cable.
PatchworkGirl82@reddit
I always turned the lights out for Are You Afraid of the Dark, I loved it.
And after SNICK ended, I switched over to USA to watch Weird Science and Duckman, then to PBS to watch Monty Python. And I used the VCR to record MST3K for later. Who needs to go out and socialize when all the best shows were on?
rolandbleezy@reddit
I loved Weird Science and Duckman so much!
webcrawler_1@reddit
Just started watching this with the kids.
Xjadebones@reddit
I remember insisting my parents say snick or treat when they answered the phone on Halloween in case I was picked for the sweepstakes
Lby54229@reddit
Two episodes scared me from Are You Afraid of the Dark. The episode with the silver and the one where the girl became a doll in the dollhouse.
Sam81818@reddit
The Secret World of Alex Mack was a good one too.
Mysterious_Fennel459@reddit
What did you call me?
brainvheart143@reddit (OP)
Snicka what
Ramen_Addict_@reddit
Someone I went to school with got their first break in this show. My sister is on the later side of the Xennial bracket and I remember being surprised (and happy) that they finally got a role.
brainvheart143@reddit (OP)
Cool! Do you remember which ep?
killervirgo@reddit
When CBS All Access (name prior to Paramount+) launched I was excited because I wanted to watch Roundhouse .... it never happened. I think it may be due to music rights. I really wish it comes to a streamer at some point.
marcos_MN@reddit
Hell yeah
