that is one fancy CX-30

lol I chuckled

Did you lol or chuckle?

Tbro100@reddit
Looks like a decently optioned Toyota Crown Sport
Tricky-Ad7897@reddit
Speaking of Italian cars that look like mazdas, one of my neighbors has a Stelvio and his next door neighbor has a CX-5 I believe and from a few houses down I thought they both had Stelvios lol
Alternative_Ear5542@reddit
Mazdarati?
Conspicuous_Ruse@reddit
I wonder if they've actually had any customers be like "I wish the crossover I bought handled better"
strongmanass@reddit
I wouldn't be surprised. It would more likely be expressed as "I wish it felt more special." I haven't driven the Purosangue, but that was my feeling when I drove the Urus and Bentayga.
CaptainGo@reddit
I suppose but if you're buying the versatility vehicle you should expect the shortcomings that come with buying the versatility vehicle
Impossibrewww@reddit
I think this is cool, who else dares to put a V12 in an SUV in 2026?
CaptainGo@reddit
I still think Enzo is spinning in his fridge at the idea of a Ferrari SUV
gosukhaos@reddit
Aston could, but they'd rather use a fairly boring TT V8 in the DBX
PuffAirways@reddit
I always felt that this was a huge missed opportunity for Aston Martin. For being a company which prides on their V12s, they could have at least tried to engineer their DBX to accommodate both V12 and V8 variants
Maximilianne@reddit
Tbh I don't really understand why Aston didn't put the v12 in the Valhalla, certainly would have made the price tag more palatable
masterventris@reddit
Well they put one in the Valkyrie, Vulcan, and Victor, so I guess they needed to do something different?
PabloIceCreamBar@reddit
I feel like you made at least one of these up.
gosukhaos@reddit
No the Victor is a real thing, sort of. It was a one off grand tourer made by the AM bespoke department using the Valhalla engine with a manual
desf15@reddit
It V12 from One-77. Valhalla has a TT V8.
masterventris@reddit
Someone at Aston has a weird obsession with British cold war bombers!
gosukhaos@reddit
Cachet maybe? A fully bespoke Cosworth V12 sounds a lot more interesting then the same engine theyve used on half a dozen cars, just tweaked a little
TangerineBroad4604@reddit
Because it would step on the toes of the Valkyrie
Maximilianne@reddit
I don't mean the Cosworth v12, I mean the vanquish v12
gosukhaos@reddit
I just assume the car is an exercise in profit margins and it was far cheaper to put in an M177 fresh off the line then a semi custom V12
PuffAirways@reddit
Valid point, the company probably didn’t have enough money to put a V12 in the DBX. From a buyer’s standpoint though the Urus and Bentayga are better purchases for a sporty/luxurious V8 SUV, having a V12 in the DBX could have offered buyers a sporty V12 SUV before the Purosangue entered the market
goaelephant@reddit
Agreed, the DBX is not competitive with the other brands you listed. So might as well give it a bespoke engine.
8N-QTTRO@reddit
I could also see some kind of emissions compliance causing them to opt for a turbo lump instead of NA power. Most buyers likely don't care too much, as long as it puts down a ton of power while staying composed and comfortable.
gosukhaos@reddit
Not sure Aston actually makes enough cars to have to worry about emissions honestly
8N-QTTRO@reddit
I'd imagine they do. They've mentioned switching to hybrid powertrains a few times, and emissions standards have only gotten more stringent since back in the day when they decided to introduce the Cygnet.
willpc14@reddit
I don't think any brand new bespoke platform is an exercise in profit margin even if it's borrowing an AMG engine from their other cars.
gosukhaos@reddit
It's a platform for a broad appeal SUV made to drive profits though, not a typical Aston car.
narwhal_breeder@reddit
Companies didn't really do it much before 2026 either.
There was the Q7, G65, Cullinan, and then the LM002 in `86.
strongmanass@reddit
I'd give special mention to Bentley too even though their 12 cylinder was a W12 instead of a V12.
stoned-autistic-dude@reddit
A W12 is really close to a V12. The pistons are just staggered in each bank which makes it shorter.
narwhal_breeder@reddit
Conceptually I don’t think they have a lot in common with a V12 other than cylinder count. W12s are a funky engine that share more with V6s than V12s. If a V12 is two inline 6s on a common crank, W12s are two V6s.
6 throw crank like a V6. Uneven firing order like a V6. 12 degree pin offset.
narwhal_breeder@reddit
Bentley wasn't the first to use the group W12 in an SUV - Volkswagen put it into the Touareg in `05.
strongmanass@reddit
I forgot about the W12 Touareg. Piech-era VW Group was a wild ride.
narwhal_breeder@reddit
I am not 100% positive, but from what I can find, the Audi 6.0 V12 TDI, at 1005lbs, is the heaviest engine used exclusively for a passenger car since the 1938 Cadillac V16.
PEEWUN@reddit
No wonder it can pull a plane...
strongmanass@reddit
Rolls Royce. Very different focus of course, but similar price.
goaelephant@reddit
The difference with an RR is, you put that in "D" and just purring along. The Purosangue provokes you to upshift & downshift while the un-turbocharged V12 screams at you.
goaelephant@reddit
This is why I disagree with all the hate against the Purosangue. I know SUVs arent the most enthusiast type of vehicle, I know its especially sacrilegious if Ferrari makes one... but so long the market is already flooded with SUVs, there might as well be one with an enthusiast engine. So if you ARE going to buy an SUV, you can at least enjoy it as much as possible instead of some 2.0T L4or 3.0T V6.
Objectively its not going to be an enthusiast choice, but within the huge market of SUV/crossover its easily one of the most exciting to drive.
The_Strom784@reddit
If BMW was still using their V12 I could easily see an X7, X8, or even an XM with one.
SavageryRox@reddit
X7 came out in 2018 on the CLAR platform. BMW was still putting the N74 in BMWs at that time, including models using the CLAR platform. Even now, they still make the N74 for Rolls.
LilMissLunetta@reddit
Still looks shit tho
Pro-editor-1105@reddit
they actually called it the "Handling speciale" lmao
SirLoremIpsum@reddit
This is a company that brought us the Ferrari The Ferrari after all
DanielG165@reddit
A lot of non-English words will sound silly when they get a hard translation like that. “LaFerrari” by itself sounds cool and sexy.
8N-QTTRO@reddit
I don't know how to tell you this, but it's gonna be called the Ferrari "The Ferrari" no matter what language you speak.
DanielG165@reddit
Shrug I simply refer to the car as, “LaFerrari”. Sue me.
GREG_FABBOTT@reddit
That's not how car naming scheme works, though. Everyone does Manufacturer-Model. Despite Ferrari's insistence, it wouldn't just be "LaFerrari" - it would be Ferrari LaFerrari. Which does sound stupid.
TerribleNameAmirite@reddit
From the company that brought you the Superfast
desf15@reddit
I still find it funny that there was a short period of time when English flagship V12 GT had Italian name, and Italian flagship V12 GT had English name :D
TerribleNameAmirite@reddit
Even funnier that the "Superleggera" weighed damn near 4000 lbs
Pro-editor-1105@reddit
The superfast is atleast better than this lol. Atleast it sounds cool and it rolls off the tongue well
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
At least, they honestly tell all buyers that SUV and crossover model never be able to compare sport car in handling and track.
TangerineBroad4604@reddit
Literally "M-sport package" type shit
Pro-editor-1105@reddit
Worst thing is that they had to put a language transition in the middle of the name. It sounds terrible.
MNAAAAA@reddit
I couldn't stand the idea of a Ferrari SUV when it first came out, but now that it's here, it seems more like a Ferrari first, stretched and squashed into SUV shape/size, as opposed to an SUV first that was Ferrari-fied. It's silly (look at that back seat) and I'm ok with it because of that.
BrunoEye@reddit
The Ferrari FF looked so much better though, while being able to do 99% of the same things this can.
strongmanass@reddit
The FF was a two door hatchback (technically a shooting brake but hatchback to most people) - and hatchbacks have a frumpier/more econobox image with the general public than an SUV. Ingress/egress was awkward, and child seats would've been very difficult to fit. The AWD system was also pointlessly complicated and expensive when it inevitably broke.
The Purosangue can actually carry four people and is much more livable overall. Styling preferences aside it's just a better daily lifestyle car.
StardusterX@reddit
Just as a side note, Purosangue has same awd system as FF/GTC4 Lusso.
strongmanass@reddit
Does it really? I'm shocked they're still using that bizarre setup.
MNAAAAA@reddit
yeah no argument there; a 4 door (or 1 and a half doors on each side) FF would be the ideal alternative to me
A_Starving_Scientist@reddit
Looks like a toyota.
ggtsu_00@reddit
The Ferrari that looks like a Toyota that looks like a Ferrari.
dpjp@reddit
They don't want to publicize their badge engineering relationship with Toyota for obvious reasons, but some Crown owners are driving Purosangues for way less with a few parts swaps.

BraveFencerMusashi@reddit
Like a Crown but sporty...
A_Starving_Scientist@reddit
Almost like sone sport version of the crown...
WIP1992@reddit
When you really think about it, truly one of the most bizarre cars ever made
8N-QTTRO@reddit
I can think of a dozen more-bizarre cars off the top of my head.
WIP1992@reddit

_treefingers_@reddit
If you told me it was a concept image for an RX-8 Revival, I'd believe it.

Ferrari even plans to use Mazda nameplate…
stulogic@reddit
Gaudy Mazda looks aside they’re an absolutely wonderful steer, can only imagine an HS being ridiculously capable.
OrionGrant@reddit
CX-7 vibes too
LegoGuy23@reddit
It even has that deep red color recent Mazdas offer.
kissmyaxeaxe@reddit
There's a color option called Rosso Coburn. It's a €32,000 Ferrari paint option, yet color-matching tools often identify it as Mazda Red

I wonder if this one can beat a generic Model Y boost to the 1/4 mile
ilovestoride@reddit
That's like saying I wonder if a 4 ounce A5 wagu can beat a russet potato to getting you full.
Probably not but I'm pretty sure stuffing your face with a giant russet potato is not considered fine dining.
Like, a Lincoln navigator would probably get you from point A to point B more comfortably but that's not the point of this thing.
K_R_A_K_E_N_540@reddit
Not quite. The "point" of the Purosangue is to be a high performance SUV made by a Supercar company. So speed is quite literally it's main purpose. However let's be realistic... it's about showing off, has nothing to do with performance and i respect that.
PotatoGamerXxXx@reddit
If performance was the main point, it would've been fitted with TT V8. It doesn't because NA V12 is more drama than outright hp.
ilovestoride@reddit
Exactly. The speed and performance is a side effect.
The main thing about a Ferrari is the show and drama.
Even though an $800k patek is more accurate than a Rolex, no one buys an $800k patek for time keeping.
Seeker80@reddit
I didn't want Ferrari to make an SUV, but if they had to, I kinda wanted to see it just be a spiteful 'Ferrari middle-finger' and be unapologetically road-oriented to the point of impracticality. Even more handling raises that middle finger a little higher.heh
NotRustyShackleford_@reddit
I’ll never have Ferrari money but if I did I don’t know that I’d want an SUV. Thinking about it more though in my Civic, my views and sight lines are blocked daily but CRVs, let alone all the other trucks in Texas. So maybe a Ferrari SUV isn’t a bad idea after all.
Seeker80@reddit
I didn't exactly lust for Ferrari before, but they don't do it for me as much anymore. I might need to cut it off somewhere around the 430 Scud. I became a McLaren fan, but that stopped at the 720S.
Might be kinda 'over' the new supercars.
NotRustyShackleford_@reddit
I’ve also lost the lust, and I’m a car guy! But cars like that are never driven how they are engineered, and most are not obtainable by 98% of most people.
MNAAAAA@reddit
my thoughts exactly!
DiskEuphoric2931@reddit
"handling speciale" is a goofy ass name
steve2166@reddit
ewww it looks like a tesla

jameson71@reddit
we have fucking Ferrari SUVs now?
Porsche was bad enough.
SD_One@reddit
I've got something speciale for the handling.
Giggity.
datums@reddit
I am not the target demographic for this product, but nonetheless, I am upset that it does not cater to my consumer preferences.
Cloudsareinmyhead@reddit
If you wanted a handling car, surely you'd ditch the V12 and give it a V8? Less weight over the front axle and you could shove it right up against the firewall to make it technically mid engined.
V12MPG@reddit
It’s already midengined. The V12 is up against the firewall and behind the axle.
Cloudsareinmyhead@reddit
I wasn't aware of that. My point about less weight over the nose I still think would be valid, though maybe Ferrari have a less expensive version of the Purosangue with a V8 in development like they had with the GTC4 Lusso
V12MPG@reddit
The Purosangue’s 49/51 weight distribution is pretty close to ideal for a daily driver utility vehicle IMO. Going much more rear biased probably doesn’t make a lot of sense for a non-sports car application. The Purosangue as is has a more rearward weight bias than an X5M, Urus, or even an M4.
Also yes I agree it would not surprise me to see a Purosangue T or something along those lines with a different engine.
BuchyyTheConfused@reddit
Looks like Ai, it's so beautiful 😻
JapanStan@reddit
Finally this month I started seeing some Puro's driving around here in SWFL. I personally think Audi and even Lamborghini makes a better looking performance SUV.
But those cars don't have a prancing pony badge 🥱
rekniht01@reddit
There is no angle in which the Urus is more attractive than the Purosangue.
komrobert@reddit
They also don’t have a true exotic engine and use VWAG 4.0TT V8 which everyone has access to, + ZF8 auto. This is a true Ferrari V12 with a dual clutch.
JapanStan@reddit
Oh I'm sure it's much better. I'll never get the opportunity to drive one, but definitely 12 is better than 8 lol. I just don't care much about the styling but that's my irrelevant subjective take
The_Flying_Sausage@reddit
They also don’t have a naturally aspirated V12.
flopping-deuces@reddit
I like Ferrari. To me, that’s not a Ferrari.
TS040@reddit
to you, how is it not a Ferrari?
narwhal_breeder@reddit
Its Ferrari branded merchandise.
flopping-deuces@reddit
Yes!
Love your username.

V12 + handling = the right kind of chaos
schultzM@reddit
Put in the lemans v6 and drop weight

The Mazda comments are hilarious
In person tho this car has more character it’s a car u will notice walking past if u are even a minimum car guy the lines are better in person well in the grey I’ve seen red makes it look like a Mazda
The rear isn’t bad but the front is horrendous and that tiny badge on the bottom is wild they could have made it bigger for the price
The front bumper is terrible and the front fenders should have been way more aggressive to match the rear
That said I would drive it if I had the money and the car was discounted heavily
