Surely I can't be the only who finds Action Retro's expressions so entertaining

I like it when he does weird retro stuff, but it's always fun. A really nice guy.
Tiny_Towel5722@reddit
You are not the only. I watch every Video.
Colonel_Barker@reddit
I can only take his material in small doses. He seems a nice guy and I like to support him, I feel very much the same as a number of other people in the thread.
FlyByPC@reddit
Kinda has the vibe of that video where they gave a Millennial an old-school 1980s Walkman.
MWink64@reddit
I have no idea what video you're talking about but many Millennials would have had a 1980s Walkman.
bleeeer@reddit
There seems to be a pattern of retro channels all doing the same thing e.g. osx on a the Wii. I assume it’s chasing the algorithm but I’d rather more unique content.
otakunopodcast@reddit
Love his vids. Except for the fact that there has been a conspicuous absence of the WHEEL OF SSDS. Last few vids where he installed stuff and whipped out an SSD I was like "dude where's the effin wheel!??!" I really miss that thing. Especially the janky v1.0 version that was literally put together from garbage and looked like it would fall to pieces if you glanced at it funny.
Whorehammer@reddit
What a deeply annoying person he is. But hey, enjoy!
Aenoxi@reddit
I love his videos and his quirky attitude. He’s been an inspiration for lots of projects over the years. BUT lately his video editing style has changed and I don’t love it. Lots of slapstick tiktok style cuts. Kinda spoils it for me - I wish he’d go back to the older style.
magnificentfoxes@reddit
He's not editing them himself anymore, that might be why. But he has listened to his viewers and has toned down a bunch of stuff. It does seem to work a bit better with his original vibe now.
Aenoxi@reddit
That’s genuinely good news 👍🏻 I just saw his latest upload. Hope he’s ok. I’d happily watch him talking about overlocking a typewriter or adding an FPU to his jeep.
magnificentfoxes@reddit
Same. Action Retro doesn't just have to mean computing imo. I'd watch him do stupid stuff with other retro stuff too.
AggressiveCan3335@reddit
I enjoy his videos and yes he gets a little campy. As long as he is having. That’s all that matters.
TheLimeyCanuck@reddit
His stuff is as entertaining as it is educational.
Sai_Wolf@reddit
I like the videos (Love the cursed Mac build), it's just his voice sounds like a salesman to me and it's off-putting. That's a me-problem though, the video quality is very good.
IronMew@reddit
I get what you mean, but for me it was like "at last, someone with this intonation who I don't have to hate". It legit made him more enjoyable to me.
simonhez@reddit
Had the same issue, try putting the video at 1.75 speed. It helped me get over that
anotherspaceguy100@reddit
It's the dimples. I got a selfie with him at VCF East. He picked up some junk from the consignment, which I'm sure we'll be seeing real soon.
pseydtonne@reddit
As someone that left some of that junk, I am also eager to see this.
_Erin_@reddit
I don't know how popular this opinion will be, but I find the "doing it for the lolz" approach to his videos increasingly tiring.
BCProgramming@reddit
I don't usually like his content much, but even when I do, I really can only handle it in small doses. Probably a combination of factors. He's practically a child to me, and if I had any question about that the editing style leaves nothing unanswered. It's that tiktok style editing with constant jump cuts and weird meme shit edited into the video. I definitely feel too old for his content, and part of the reason is so much of it is obvious for content, like shoving laptops inside of PC cases for some reason.
Another one is he's always talking about how the old stuff is crappy and bad which is super weird considering the entire angle.
Primo0077@reddit
Same, and there's a weird trend of people going "THiS ceRtAiNLy CAn'T gO WroNG!!1!" while doing the most mundane thing like jumping the on pins of a power supply or soldering a bodge wire. I would respect you way the fuck more if you were just confident in the skills you obviously have.
majestic_ubertrout@reddit
Kind of slightly agree. But I'd rather he have fun - it makes the results more amusing.
O_MORES@reddit
Very nice guy. In his recent Windows 98 video, he actually recommended my YouTube channel.
Brave_Assumption6@reddit (OP)
He also created a search engine specially for old browsers and systems and I think that's so good
Lovethecreeper@reddit
I use it regularly, it's pretty good.
randylush@reddit
he recommended your channel because you are the GOAT
TerryLO439@reddit
That's Funny I've seen some of your videos your like install Rhapsody OS video and Windows 98 NVMe Driver video. I'm not exactly sure if I found your videos through Action Retro but definitely through the Retro Tube scene I didn't describe back then I definitely did now.
Least_Dog4660@reddit
He's just a dude, doing his retro thing. Always a good watch
KitchenLandscape@reddit
I love his videos!
ryannelsn@reddit
I used to find his first person view finger pointing gestures so off putting and unsettling. But damn he won me over. Dude’s a genius and is doing the VERY IMPORTANT THINGS THAT NEED DOING!
coffee_guy@reddit
Dude is really good at making videos.
Brave_Assumption6@reddit (OP)
Yeah I think he balances everything perfectly. Engaging and witty, yet without crazily going overboard or hyper. I love his frequent laugh chuckles as well! He's a classic natural.
Brave_Assumption6@reddit (OP)
On the fourth pic he looks like a father proudly looking at his child lol
blakespot@reddit
He's great.

therocketsalad@reddit
No, I imagine he finds them entertaining, too
jblakey@reddit
I like his stuff, and he's fun to watch.
