I would never watch a female Columbo. If that’s the straw that breaks the camel’s back then so be it.
And it’s not because I don’t like reboots, and it’s not because I don’t like gender swaps for famous characters. I don’t care about any of that. It’s because I always saw Peter Falk as sort of a father figure. My dad left my mom when I was very young, and I grew up watching Columbo and it quickly became a comfort show for me.
As I grew up, I started having dreams that quickly bacame fantasies. I’d imagine Columbo getting ready to leave my house or something and saying “…just one more thing…” and I’d say “yes, daddy Columbo?” and he would say, “you want to suck my cock, boy?” I can almost hear it in Peter Falk’s voice. He would unzip his pants and he would quickly unload down my throat and he would bid me adieu and leave, just like my real dad.
Maybe not having a dad messed me up, but damn do I have a special place in my heart for the original Columbo.
If Hollywood never made another remake, I doubt the world would lose any sleep at all. I don't care that it's a woman taking a male role, I care that its not an original idea
The thing is, remakes generally make good money. My conspiracy is that they know changing the race/gender of a character will piss off a cirtain demographic enough that they can deflect all the criticism onto "the bigots" while enough people will go "I liked the original, I guess I'll watch it" that they pull in bank.
I have a general rule of thumb when it comes to remakes:
If you don't have an actual story reason to make the change you are making... don't fucking do it.
People don't like change, especially to familiar things they like
So if you want them to accept a change, you need to give them a good reason to accept it
So for example in Columbo's case - you want to genderswap him?
Ok, why
Are you trying to explore something you otherwise couldn't if columbo were a guy?
If the answer is yes then fine, I'll accept that change, I might not agree with it but that's fine, I have no problem with it let's see what they have to offer with this new take
If the answer is no?
Ok well then you don't actually have a valid reason to make that change, do you and all you're doing is upsetting people and disrespecting the legacy of the work by not treating it with dignity.
I just got jnto the original columbo and i was suprised how much i enjoy it. Just long slow burn episodes that feel like mini movies. Its really refreshing compared to modern "content"
Mrs columbo was an actual show lol. It was so unpopular they renamed it after a few episodes then it ended. It was so unknown no one even knows thex made a mrs columbo lol
How about a show called "Christophette Columba" - where some Italian chick with a New Jersey accent discovers the New World? Featuring hentai, of course.
Thanks to Ethan Coen's lesbian wife, we got a film noir, only the cynical outsider detective is also a woman. Aubrey Plaza, Margaret Qualley, a steamy one-minute short - I'm good

Fake: Columbo-posting doesn't work if you don't have an accusatory sting at the end. You can't just use it to ramble about some random thing.
Gay: Anon wants to see men.
