Help Deciding Whether or Not to Upgrade

I’m manly looking at upgrading my graphics at the moment, but I’m unsure if I should just update the card or if I need to update the mobo and all and do a fresh build. This is my first self built pc, so I’m not sure how it all goes.
Current graphics is a 3060TI and I’m looking at getting an RX 9070
Mobo: MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX II AM4
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X 8Core 3.6GHz
64gb of DDR4 RAM total
I was considering getting the 9070 and updating to Windows 11 just not sure how going all new with only 1 component would be on this build. Do new CPUs fit into older Mobos? I know I can’t do new RAM and RAM is essentially the reason I’m not doing a whole new build in the first place lol.

Why so much ram? You could cut back the ram to 32gb and spend the savings on a 9070xt.

Already have the RAM lol was just mentioning it for specs. Idk why I bought all that though, used to be cheap compared to now.

Maybe check used prices? You might be able to sell your 64GB of DDR4 to pretty well afford 32GB of DDR5, which is plenty if you're just gaming.

I have not, but maybe I’ll check it out. Makes me wonder about the really old ddr3 in storage too lmao

Yea, really.

A 9070 is a good upgrade. What you can do CPU wise is update the motherboard BIOS, and then you can slot in a Ryzen 5000 chip, something like the 5600/5600X/5600XT/5700X/5800X/5800XT would all be suitable options for increased performance.

I was wondering why I wasn’t seeing the 3dx’s anywhere, but that makes sense they’re out of production lol. The 5800xt seems like it would be a good upgrade. Thanks for the input!
