Wow another Porsche unattainable to 99.9999% of people.
leTrull@reddit
They're using the GT3 RS camshafts in the 992.2 GT3 (which makes it the same engine, per andy preuninger), and it's down 15 PS and 15 Nm there. They're not sandbagging, it's because of the latest Euro-emissions regulations.
They gotta go turbocharged
MentalMiilk@reddit
I understand that "number must go up", but the idea that only 487 hp just isn't enough is funny to me. Also, Porsche's GT division is one of the few manufacturers that could probably make a car faster with less hp somehow.
Riverrattpei@reddit
The GT3 has been pretty resistant to the "number just go up"
It's been at 500~hp since the GT3 RS 4.0 in 2011

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Negative_Acadia6554@reddit
Understandable from a compliance perspective if it does happen.
Porsche will add turbocharging, keep the GT3 badge, raise the price, and present it as an improvement. While it will likely be objectively faster, outright speed is not the metric that matters here.
TheMangoManHS@reddit
We've discontinued the GT3RS and replaced it with the even bigger, heavier and faster GT2RS for £150k more! Oh and it's already sold out
cat_prophecy@reddit
I know you're trying to be funny but the GT cars are named for racing classes and GT2 generally is bigger and faster than GT3.
MrEwThatsGross@reddit
Ah the BMW playbook
DaRiddler70@reddit
Ohhhhhhh nooooooo, what will the rich people do?
I hope they get color matched seatbelts to make themselves feel better.
Egg_Tart_Eater@reddit
Oh no. What will all the guys who buy these for over MSRP to keep in their garage as status symbols instead of driving them do now?
DerBootsMann@reddit
there’s lots of porsche 911 gt3 on every track day , sonoma raceway , nürburgring , smaller places too , you might not believe it , but some folks actually buy them to race , not to flip for profit
SonnyG696@reddit
The tracks I go to are like 50% porsches in general and 40% bmws and 10% other. Mad respect to the high volume of these guys taking their cars out there.
Trollygag@reddit
That's the real 1%, the GT3 owners that drive their cars.
assblast420@reddit
I'd imagine they will keep buying GT3s because why would it matter if they're turbocharged or not if they're not going to drive them?
DreyfusBlue@reddit
In my day, we would call these GT2
NISMO1968@reddit (OP)
My guess is, GT2’s got a certain reputation, so Porsche’s marketing team decided to balance it out by positioning the GT3 and GT3RS names as the workhorses.
parker2020@reddit
???? What reputation lmfaoo
ActualCounterculture@reddit
GT2 is a class above GT3 in racing, the name was abandoned in 2010 but made a comeback in 2019 as slower class below GT3
Porsche currently has both GT2 and GT3 racing car, so its weird that in street car GT2 is quicker but in race form GT2 is slower
Jules040400@reddit
I know porsche gets away with a lot of shit, like people didnt really care that the quick electric Taycan was called the Turbo lmao
But surely this wont fly for the GT3 people, those fellas are crazy
parker2020@reddit
It will be so stupidly fast. People who will never buy this car will chirp and everyone who drives it will say I it’s the best car ever. Much like people saying the e-hybrid GTS is great the carrera t is great and so on…
NISMO1968@reddit (OP)
Wait, so no more naturally aspirated, high-revving, race-bred power plant for GT3? That’s kinda sad, honestly…
