My current retro PC

My little DOS/Win98 gaming setup
Gateway Pentium II-266
32Mb of RAM
Matrox G400 AGP
SoundBlaster Vibra16S
PicuGus 2.0
128GB Sata SSD connected via a SATA to IDE interface
The system was originally used by a business so has an IDE tape drive for backups. The original HDD is still in the chassis (it works) and has an install of Windows NT4
I'm mainly playing old DOS games from my childhood like the Sierra Quest for Glory series, Rise of the Triad, Doom and Wolf3D
I may add a Voodoo 2 or Voodoo 3 (I already have them, just not installed)

I can practically hear the Apogee logo. Don't forget to play Blake Stone.

I think PII was kinda a symbolic peak in PC innovation, many great things were achieved before and after but it was the staple of modern computing

Good lord, a P2-266 with 32MB RAM is retro?
Single digit MHz and sub 1MB RAM is what I consider retro. 👴

Of course it is

I recognized the RotT picture! Was tucked away somewhere between the adult stuff in my head. I remember it had some kind of Easter egg; you could change the date of your computer to change the picture or something. Try halloween or Christmas...

Very nice. Love the Slot 1 Pentiums. Got to use the vintage hard drive though you're missing out on some crunchy ear candy aesthetic. Vibra16s actually a very decent 16 bit sound card with great compatibility. Good job man. Enjoy it.

Thanks!
The Vibra16 is there for 3 reasons
1) It has a real OPL3 chip for MIDI
2) SB16 support is great
3) Low noise floor, the original SB16 had a ton of noise on the audio output which the Vibra does not
Im running the PicoGUS in GUS mode and have that connected to the SoundBlaster. Using the PicoGUS for MIDI , digital audio is via the SoundBlaster
