Used gpu, Rx 6900xt vs rx7800xt

Hi people, I'm wanting to upgrade my sim racing pc. Right now I have a Rx 5700xt and a 3900x. Which isn't cutting it at newer games. I use 3x1080p. A used 7800xt is about 500nok(45 euro ish) more expensive than a 6900xt. Which one do you think is a better pick for my usecase?

I had the 6900 xt, and I would recommend the 7800xt, and ideally, the 9060 xt if you can swing it. The 6900xt needs UV and fan curve tweaking to make it run at sane power consumption. The 7800xt is slightly more optimized.
Both can use FSR4 INT8 as well. I'd say go for the 7800xt.

A new 9060xt isn't that much more new than a used 7800. But isn't the 7800 quite a lot faster?

for 3x1080p sim racing both handle iRacing/AMS2/ACC easily — those are CPU-bound and your 3900x is actually the ceiling there, not the GPU. 6900xt is slightly faster in pure raster, 7800xt has better idle power, FSR3 + frame gen, lower load temps, newer encoders.
at only 45 eur gap the 7800xt is the better buy — efficiency, features, and longer driver support window. 6900xt only makes sense if you're also doing heavy non-sim rasterization workloads where the small fps lead matters.

Yes, but still should be massive difference even without cpu upgrade right? I'm hoping the 5800x3d rerelease rumors are true lol. They are impossible to find for a reasonable price here atm.

For triple 1080p sim racing the 6900xt is the stronger pick here. It trades blows with the 7800xt in raw rasterization and often wins, while costing less. The 16GB VRAM is also a meaningful advantage over the 7800xt's 16GB... wait, both have 16GB, so that's a wash.
The real argument for the 7800xt is newer architecture, better driver maturity, and slightly better efficiency. For €45 more that's a reasonable premium if longevity matters to you. But if the budget is tight the 6900xt gives you more raw performance per euro for sim racing specifically.
I'd run both against your 5700xt at https://best-gpu.com/upgrade/ to see the perf gain side by side before deciding if that €45 difference is worth it.

pretty sure they perform the same performance wise in raster but 6900xt is gonna be more power hungry
