Can I put breathable garden furniture cushion covers over shower-proof covers?

The cushions on my garden furniture make you very sweaty and feel uncomfortable. I usually sit on a towel when alone, but that's not really practical with guests. The covers aren't removable - would breathable covers over the top help? I've looked online and they are available but just wondering if they would work over the top of the current ones. Any recommendations from anyone who's tried this? Thanks!

I doubt it will help. Reminds me of my time at uni when I had to keep the plastic mattress cover on or risk losing a chunk of my deposit. It was extremely, disgustingly sweaty, even with a topper. That plastic cover prevented any airflow through the mattress, so I would assume the same thing would happen here.
Like others have said, just swap them out for ones you prefer.

If in doubt, try it out!
Also, buy some nice throws and use them to sit your sweaty bum on 🫣

Could you just remove them and replace with different cushions? Or perhaps some deliberate cotton throws instead?
