It thinks its reflection is another bird. There's probably a way to deal with it that stops it from attacking your window
SubtractAd@reddit
It can itself

the other characteristic of robins at this time of year is that their avoidance of humans drops to ridiculously low levels. Every day this week I've had all 3 robins from my garden sitting on the palm of my hand eating seeds or crumbs. So if it wont stop doing this when you make the window non-reflective, it could just be it wants your attention. Go outside and see if it comes to you

Can you open the window, wrap a sheet (bed sheet or something?) around it and close it again? You basically need to make the window not be reflective for the next few weeks!

The windows open wide n he's still diving at the window 🤣
CellistLow8857@reddit
Yeah they’re not the smartest… they’ll keep at it for a while before they get the picture that there’s no threat….
thecraftybee1981@reddit
Are you standing behind the camera with your nuts out? Poor thing may be hungry?
Redangle11@reddit
Just stick some paper to the window temporarily. It'll go away.
snarkmaiden5@reddit
Looks like a male chaffinch to me. He'll be seeing his reflection in the window, think its another male and being territorial about it
McLeod3577@reddit
Territorial bird trying to have a go at it's reflection.

Looks like a bit like a chaffinch

oh my god, trampoline

I think this might be a Brambling and not a Robin. Still like what others have said it’s very territorial during breeding season April-May and it’s seeing its reflection in the window and wants to fight off anyone in its territory.
navagon@reddit
There was a documentary many years back where they created this stuffed robin and attached it to a branch. A robin noticed it and kept attacking it until there wasn't much of anything left of it. Way past the point where it would have been dead. Robins get like that during spring.
If you adjust the angle of the window the robin might not notice the reflection.
benjymous@reddit
Robins are aggressive things when it's breeding season. It can likely see its reflection in your window, and has decided it needs to fight this other robin to get it off its terriory.
Ok_Cockroach_4234@reddit (OP)
It's been non stop for 2 solid days I thought it'd get bored but clearly not
benjymous@reddit
There was a BBC documentary years ago where they put a stuffed robin in a tree in another robin's territory, and it didn't stop until it was utterly shredded, so yeah, it'll single mindedly continue trying to get this interloper to go away (or die) as long as it keeps seeing it - and unfortunately it looks like it's got a perfect place to perch outside where it'll keep seeing its reflection
oscarx-ray@reddit
The other robin hasn't pissed off yet, so he's got to keep defending his turf!
Silent-Detail4419@reddit
He isn’t “trying to get in”, Robins are extremely territorial and he thinks his reflection is a rival male, so he’s fighting it.
You can prevent birds flying into your windows by breaking up the reflection either by sticking decals on the window, or by putting up a Venetian or vertical blind.

It's fighting it's reflection. Just search this sub and you'll find thousands of videos like this. This question gets asked multiple times a day, eveyday.
