What's the best jam to go with peanut butter?

What's your favourite? I've tried several brands but still haven't found the ONE.

Can any yank confirm it's supposed to be grape? They invented peanut butter and "jelly". I like it with cheap strawberry jam, though.

It is grape jelly, hence the name. It is distinct from the process of making jam, it is a bit of a myth that we have different words for the same thing.

Thanks for clearing that up. So is peanut butter and jelly always grape jelly then? Would it be weird to have it with strawberry jam?

I believe like how we may automatically reach for cheap strawberry jam to top our toast, they may do the same of grape jelly. But you could use anything I guess.

Damson or black cherry - you want some tartness too

The classic in US terms is grape jelly, which isn't so much a thing in the UK but you may find here and is worth a try. I find a classic strawberry jam like we'd have on toast is too much with the peanut butter, needs some sourness.

Absolutely nothing. We don't eat that crap here in the UK, thank you.

Marmalade, ideally thick cut.

"The one" interesting how you define what is going to revolutionise your pb&j.
Any high quality preserve is going to be a good choice, I would suggest raspberry.

I usually have enough homemade jam to last me a year until the next picking season. So it's whatever I've made really - I particularly like cherry.

I am a bit partial to peanut butter on toast with a bit of marmalade. Butter the toast, do a very thin coating of marmalade, then peanut butter on top.
I found this out because once I made a slice of toast with marmalade and one with peanut butter and placed the peanut butter one on top of the marmalade one on the plate, and some of the marmalade transferred to the bottom of the peanut butter slice.
Taste sensation unlocked.
Why yes, I was stoned at the time.
