Looking to purchase my first handgun and i’m either looking at a glock 26 or a hellcat pro. Let me know what you guys think/any other recommendations to check out.

My girlfriend has hellcat and I personally hate it. The way it fits in my hands, when I grip it firm presses the mag release just enough to for the magazine to disengage but not drop out, resulting in a failure to feed

Should get a full size and learn how to shoot before getting a subcompact.

Go to your local range and try different guns. That can. Help you decide which gun to. My as your first.

If this is truly your first handgun, I’d honestly recommend neither of those as a starting point.
Both the G26 and Hellcat Pro are geared more toward concealed carry than learning fundamentals. Shorter grips, lighter weight, and snappier recoil make them less forgiving for new shooters. They’re very capable guns, but they tend to amplify mistakes while you’re still building your grip, trigger control, and recoil management.
I'd look more into the Glock 19/17, S&W M&P 9 2.0, CZ 75 / SP-01 or even a Springfield Echelon.
Best advice: Rent a few full‑size or compact pistols at a range first. The one that feels “boring but easy” is usually the best first handgun.

Don’t buy a hellcat till you’ve shot it. They’re great but not as a first handgun. Your first handgun should he defensive, home or on the go. You can buy the expensive range toys later. I dont know too many people who carry a hellcat. Just get the 26 if you’re set on it but i do agree with the other commenter who recommended the sw shield as your first piece

The 26 is a bulky gun. You would probably find it more comfortable to carry a Glock 43x.
I’d also strongly recommend the smith & Wesson shield plus. I’ve owned every major manufacturer’s micro pistol & the shield is my favorite to shoot and carry.
