You should be able to probe anyone you want for answers. Curiosity is the key to societal progression and prosperity!

You can do that now. However because you care to ask doesn't mean they care to answer.
cpt_ugh@reddit
Do you mean "able" as in "capable" or as in "allowed".
Cuz anyone is allowed to do this now, though some are not capable.

First let's define the term: "probe."
Vreas@reddit
I mean you can already do that. Whether they engage with you or not is another story.
I used to be an open book. It isn’t always healthy. People can use information to take advantage of you. It’s why so many people are guarded these days.

Yeah, but answering any random strangers invasive questions isn't.
HumbleMumble76@reddit
Enthusiastic yes to curiosity. Probing comes off as invasive. But feel free to ask any good faith question.

I'm so old now that I grew up in the 'pen pal' world.
I sent, unsolicited, letters to organizations, companies, individuals of note - and got a surprising number of responses - many from folks whose names you might recognize. Some were probably too busy, but several resulted in ongoing exchanges, more than a handful of which lasted for decades.
One nice aspect was the relaxed pace of these conversations, another was the appearance of a letter after a long interval, the resumption of what had seemed to have run its course.

”probe for answers”—— enhanced interrogation, you mean?
TheHvam@reddit
You can already do that, it's just not guaranteed that you will get an answer, or that they will appreciate you asking those questions
