GPU Upgrade from RX 5700XT to 9060XT 16GB or more?

Hi all,
I’m currently using a PowerColor Red Devil RX 5700 XT OC and considering an upgrade, but I’m trying to figure out what would be a worthwhile upgrade.
Current setup:
- GPU: RX 5700 XT (Power Color Red Devil OC)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (planning to upgrade to Ryzen 7 5700X3D later)
What I play:
- Mostly esports / lighter titles:
- Valorant
- CS2
- Overwatch
- Ready or Not
- Phasmophobia
- Occasionally heavier games like:
- Lies of P
- Ghost of Tsushima
So I’m not constantly pushing ultra-demanding AAA titles.
I play all these at 1080p, not planning to change my monitor to 1440p for now anyways.
What I’m considering:
- Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB (\~IDR 8,000,000 / \~$460)
- Radeon RX 9070 16GB (\~IDR 10,400,000\~$600 where I live)
From what I’ve seen, AMD pricing is a lot more reasonable and stable where I live compared to NVIDIA.
Questions:
- Would the 9060 XT be a significant enough upgrade from a 5700 XT?
- Is the 9070 worth stretching to for better long-term value?
- Are there better-value alternatives I should be looking at in this price range?
I’m open to both AMD and NVIDIA suggestions, but value/performance matters more to me than brand.
Appreciate any advice
Thanks!

For your game list at 1080p the Ryzen 5 3600 is the real bottleneck before the GPU. CS2, Valorant and Overwatch are all CPU-bound at high framerates, and the 3600 will limit your framerate ceiling regardless of which card you pick. The 5700X3D upgrade you're planning will make a bigger difference in those titles than any GPU swap.
That said, the 5700 XT is showing its age in the heavier titles like Ghost of Tsushima and Lies of P, so a GPU upgrade still makes sense.
At your pricing the 9060 XT 16GB is the value pick for 1080p. The 9070 is a stronger card but at $140 more for 1080p gaming on titles you've described, the extra spend is hard to justify until you also fix the CPU. Do the 5700X3D first, then reassess whether the 9060 XT still feels limiting.
I'd run the 5700 XT against both options at https://best-gpu.com/upgrade/ to see the actual perf gain before deciding.

I did the exact same thing (Sapphire 5700XT NItro+) a couple of months ago, works great! If you have some extra budget, go for 5060 Ti 16GB, but if you stay with AMD you won't make a mistake

the 9070 isn’t that far off from the 9060xt price wise i would of just said go for it but you play lighter titles so id just get the 9060xt tbh 5060ti is better and might be a better option some might say but at that price point close to a 9070 id take that over a 5060ti anyday get the 9060xt and save the rest for the cpu upgrade for sure since it’ll hold your gpu back

A cpu upgrade will give you more frames than gpu.

I would go for a Gforce RTX5060 Ti honestly if the 16GB is available. if not, go for the 9060XT
30mizi@reddit (OP)
It is available here but priced at more or less $560, $100 more than the 9060xt 16GB

I'd rather get the 9070 instead of the 5060 ti, at that price.
That being said, 9060 xt 16gb is more than adequate for your games.

The 9060XT will ne more than enough. I feel like the 9070 might be a bit of an overkill for 1080p as it is more of a 2k high/ultra to 4k entry card.
I'd get the 9060XT and a better CPU sooner rather than a more powerful gpu that will get limited by the rest of your build.

The 9060 XT 16GB is about 70% faster on average (source: TechPowerUp), the 9070 is about 150% faster. To add, the 9070 is then 50% faster than a 9070. Which is worth it is up to you, personally for the budget difference I'd probably try and go for the 9070, though it is likely more than you need for 1080p gaming.

9060 XT will be a massive jump from the 5700 XT at 1080p, you won't bottleneck it even with the 3600 for now. Save the extra $140 and put it toward the 5700X3D upgrade instead.
