5060 vs 3070 bottleneck

I have a 5060 with a ryzen 5 5600, it runs games good enough and all, but I mainly play esports games and i have a 240hz monitor. I get weird bottleneck issues from time to time trying to get to those framerates on some games, is it possible that the 3070 would work better in my case? I don't want framegen.

Nah, maybe even worse to be honest, Higher tier cards suffer from more cpu overhead issues i believe. It's possible this will be even worse on the 3070.
If you're trying to push higher frame rates with upscaling, or just purely lowering the resolution or settings, you need a faster CPU.

the answer i wish wasn't true but i know deep down that it is

I see a relaunch 5800x3D in your future
According_Spare7788@reddit
Yeah. It's something a lot of proponents of "bottlenecks don't matter" just flat out miss.

Use mfg

Bro he is playing eSports games... Not story driven turn based single player games...

is this for real
are we dead ass?

Where is the bottleneck? I guess that it is on CPU since you are talking about e-sport games.

I'm probably going to express an unpopular opinion, but you need a 5090/7900xtx and a corresponding cpu for 240Hz in any modern games. Especially in the case of esport, when you don't want to use frame generation.

XD

9060XT. Better, PCIE X16 etc.
Tulpin@reddit
a rare case where an x3d cpu would help
bringbackcayde7@reddit
there is also memory speed bottleneck
gloss_ssolg@reddit (OP)
yeah was considering that being a mayor problem too

Resolution?

1080

They’re basically the same. The 5060ti just has DLSS4 and uses less power.

5060 and 3070 have near identical performance.

Both should be sufficient for esports when played at low/medium settings. R5 5600 is more likely to be your issue, it won't sustain 240FPS in many games.
RAM tuning can help (5-10% gains vs using XMP/DOCP) but switching to AM5 or waiting for the 5800X3D relaunch will yield 20-30% gains

getting a higher tier card will actually make it worse in general when bottlenecked since your cpu won’t be able to keep up with your gpu you’ll need a better processor for competitive games high refresh rate X3D are best
