The parliament in Kosovo failed to elect a president (again) and there will be most likely snap elections (again for the 3rd time since 2025). So, what do you think about it?

The ruling party LVV didn't want to vote the previous President Osmani and the opposition didn't want a LVV president so they boycotted and didn't come to the parliament which lead to a constitutional blockade. Now the time they were given by the supreme court is out and there will be most likely snap elections. Thoughts?

Kosovo is a US occupied narco-state, none of this actually matters.
Ujemegaz@reddit
Yet they are more democratic than Serbia.
Austerlitz2310@reddit
That's the saddest part. Pretty soon the "Economic Tiger" will be piss poor and under a firm iron fist of the idiot at the top if we don't see some changes soon. Why tf are we looking more and more like we're waiting out the end of this lunatic's term in 2027...
Ujemegaz@reddit
What sad part, do you really think that Kosovo is a narco-state like the previous commenter said?
venit_enim_ad_me@reddit
I mean it objectively is, it has been defacto ruled by narcomafia for most of it's existence.
Ujemegaz@reddit
Why do you repeat the same vocabulary hundred times. We get it. Serbia is the angelic state decreed by Jesus christ himself, and the holy church.
venit_enim_ad_me@reddit
I literally wrote nothing about Serbia, and I am also not even Serbian. I do not know why you have the urge to project your internal bullshit onto me.
Yes, I am already aware Albanians tend to live in delululand when Kosovo is concerned, but it is objectively a shithole.
Ujemegaz@reddit
Yes, you are Serbian.
venit_enim_ad_me@reddit
no, i am not

I was thinking how in the rest of Serbia the opposition never does anything meaningful but this is a good point
venit_enim_ad_me@reddit
Best case scenario is that country falls apart
umagnovenju@reddit
I would prefer that over having Vučić and no elections in sight
Imaginary_String_814@reddit
love how ablanians pretend all is good and healthy.
what different result should the election bring ? does Mr.Bean expect a 2/3 majority ?
and why they didnt be able to agree on a president, seems silly to go over it to new elections when you have the majority in the parlament.
Ujemegaz@reddit
Why not?
In Albania we have a puppet for president. It is not silly ar all to cause a crisis over such position, be it a ceremonial one.
Imaginary_String_814@reddit
2/3 is delusional considering the last result, so this can’t be the goal.
(maybe he wants to make endless elections cycles until something happens or 2/3 majority ?)
So you think it’s good to have all power concentrated in one party ?
Ujemegaz@reddit
What makes you so sure Kurti will win harder. If people vote him, than he shall have power. Frequent elections is what makes democracy, i would worry if elections were once in four years and same party wins for three consutive terms, like in Albania. Look at even Serbia, Greece and Turkey. They have same premiers for a decade or more and corruption scandals are kicking.
Imaginary_String_814@reddit
I doubt he will win harder, 51% is already brutal.
It’s not good nor healthy imo, it’s a waste of time and resources considering you have a rotation anyway all 4-5 years.
It’s a big problem that politicians think in such short timescales and Serbia, Turkey and Albania are not role models for democracy …
The question is where the goal for this endless election cycles
Ujemegaz@reddit
Because you are obsessed with Kurti, 51% is not brutal. Rama won with 53.5% and system gave him 2/3. That is what i woyld call brutal, and unfortunately it doesn't work out. Albanians are obsessed with a strong figure, it is in our psyche due to past hardships, but i am glad that the system in Kosovo has such safety valves which cause a halt in case a party wants more power. Eventually we will find out. If people give more votes to Kurti, maybe they want a strong individual, if not, they want the parties to compromise. It is their will, and no one outsider should interfere with that. I only wish they never make same mistake we did, then Kosovo would end up like Albania. We have same character afterall.
Citaku357@reddit
The problem is that no one wants to create a coalition government with the largest party.

BarnaclePotential132@reddit
Thats the priviliege of people in power who don't have to worry about the consequences of their amateurish actions because everything is financed by foreign countries. As long as this remains unchanged, it will stay that way. Now, one could argue whether this isn't in everyone's best interest.
papa_CLaude@reddit
Only someone living in the western bubble and someone who has never been to Kosovo, would compare Kosovo to a failed state in Africa.
trisul-108@reddit
Overdramatised.
The failure to elect the president in a parliamentary system has relatively minor consequences. Government is functional and the speaker of parliament became acting president until one is elected. No big deal.

Its a symptome of a problem. You can't deny that they're blocking each other just because it's coming from the others, regardless of the topic . The tragic thing is that this overshadows the important social and economic issues. Progress isn't possible that way. And no matter how patriotic someone may be, you can't deny this, and you can't keep blaming external factors for it. Thats the core of my argumentation. Irresponsibility based on financial and political support. Politicians must be held accountable EVERYWHERE for their poor performance, and I see the point OP raises here as proof that this simply isn’t happening. Man, people here always handle differing opinions so poorly... I’m not being offensive in a single sentence. You may not like my argument, but I’m being fair and I’m not insulting anyone.

Spam comment 😂🤣

Climb down from high horse. Elections are not financed from other countries. Plus, for the last couple of years they were cut from €400M at least. EU blackmailed them and it did not work out.
Such political crisis is healthy for democracy there, and i know what i am talking about. Albania has had same party in power for the last 13 years and i don't see political "stability" as a positive factor of democracy...

I am not from Kosovo, but even as Albanian from Albania proper i have not payed attention what is exactly happening there, but the climate there is far more democratic than ours, i can say that for sure. They have elections which are not contested, they have Constitution Court whose decisions are respected and, i think both camps are doing the right thing by blocking each other. Compromises in my country regarding the President election lead to the situation that we have today, a clown for president.. . Maybe you should not be so entitled as Germany has had their own crisis in the past. Wasn't your country without a government for 6 months at one point?
Aggravating_Key2725@reddit
Calm down, this is just democracy in action. The parliament can't agree so they'll go back to the people, it's not the end of the world. Belgium wasn't a failed state when its parliament was deadlocked for months on end, nor is Kosovo now.
