Should We Cancel Our Flight Due to Dallas Weather?

So wife and I have a layover in Dallas on the way to New Orleans this Friday and of course is the worse day at 100% rain per my Apple Weather App. Then of course reading news about hail and tornadoes. But you all would know your weather better than us flying from the LA.
Yes, we've have plenty of flights in rain but the wife does not do well in bad turbulence and I do not do well at the thought of tornadoes. Postponed a trip a few years ago that involved a road trip from Omaha to Dallas due to a bad storm in that whole stretch through Kansas and Oklahoma. I am not trying to get carried up to the heavens wizard of oz style lmao. I'm good with my earthquakes. BTW, when I did go for that road trip, the weather was beautiful but got so sick once in Dallas, so we already got off on the wrong foot.
Anyway, just wondering if the whole "storm" is just being overblown. Also hate the thought of the flight getting delayed or cancelled anyway and wasting that time.

This time of year, the answer simply is “Who knows?” We can have predicted bad weather that ends up not being that bad, or super cells that pop up out of nowhere and cause a ton of damage. It’s really unpredictable.
You might catch a solid delay, but if you’re at DFW Airport or Love Field you’ll be safe with their storm shelters.

Currently it's just rain. They won't ground stop unless there is lightning.
Asuna-Usagi@reddit
No, they may just move it later. Just give her some Meds.

You’re fine

Yes

A few days ago, the weather forecast in the morning said I was going to have thunderstorms and heavy rain all day. It was a sunny (albeit muggy) day, the rain all hit a few miles further south.
That to say, it's way too unpredictable to say for sure
Dapper_Let_4629@reddit
dallas weather is bipolar the forecast could say rain and there will be sunshine the whole day, dont cancel
Jamhawk4@reddit
As it is predicted right now, those storms will just be rain. Doesn’t look like any severe weather or lightning.
Demi_Monde_@reddit
This is correct. Cold front has moved in and cold kills storms. It will be cool and rainy, but no storms until it warms up next week.

I think you are overthinking it. 20 years ago we didn't have these phones in our pockets flooding us with information. We just would have taken the trip and if they cancel or delay, you're just cancelled or delayed. Just take it and stop trying to predict nature
therealradberry@reddit
The airline will cancel it if necessary
wizzerBizzer@reddit
That’s almost as dumb as saying I won’t fly to California because there might be an earthquake.

I fly a lot and I hate even mild turbulence. Let me tell you that your pilots will do everything possible to find clear air and fly around weather.
To put you at ease, download the FlightAware app, go to the map view, then zoom in on the area around major storms. You’ll see flocks of planes rerouting around the storm, or zipping through a little seam in the storm where it’s peaceful.
There’s no way to guarantee a flight will be turbulence-free, but pilots want to arrive safe just like you do and part of their job is passenger comfort!

If it's anything like the last 3 tornado watches, it'll amount to some isolated rain.
EnvironmentalLuck515@reddit
No. That's way beyond overkill anxiety
currentlyhigh@reddit
Lol do people really use apple weather? Do you not know that every forecast comes from the NWS anyway?
Texan2020katza@reddit
It was supposed to be bad storms and all kinds of bad tonight and we got zero rain. It’s a crapshoot, man.
Go to Frenchman Street in NOLA, if y’all make it.
Zeedlle@reddit
If it's that bad outside, they will just do a ground stop and if that messes with your itinerary then they will rebook you. No need to reschedule on something that may not even be a big deal. Let the airline/airport make that decision and just prepare to fly as normal.
bigbabyjesus14@reddit
If you feel like you need to ask Reddit for this decision, stay home.

Canceling would be very silly. Stop overthinking things.
