How to fix old David Clark Headphones

I have these really old David Clark headphone I’d like to start using, I know the wiring is off and can fix it, I just can’t get into the headphone itself. I’ve sent it to David Clark and they said they couldn’t help me so I’m on my own.

It looks like it is held together with plastic clips. If you push a screwdriver or tool in them while prying outward you should be able to disassemble it.

I cant see where the clips would be though thats another problem

If I'm looking at it correctly looks like they're in the first picture. There's about a dozen of them going all the way around the inner earpiece holding it in place.

the little plastic nubs?
InitialEquipment7967@reddit
You'll need to go very gently, that plastic looks like it'll be quite brittle.
You might want to improvise a couple of L shaped tools to slip under the flat part with the speaker and pull upwards rather than prying sideways with a screwdriver which is almost certain to knacker the earcup housing.

Update: got it out it’s all good

It sure looks like those nubs are the only things keeping the earpiece cups pressed in place 🤔

I believe so, but your picture was low resolution so hard to say for sure.

Some gentle heat may help any glue soften and make the plastic more malleable
Gentle like hairdryer
You can use a plastic drywall applicator to help separate the pieces without breaking or scratching too much
Once you figure out how it’s connected the remaining connectors will be easy to do

I mean, why would you want to? If they’re just for the novelty and nostalgia factor, leave them hanging in the plane for display and use a modern set for flying. If you can’t afford a new David Clark/flight-clamp/clarity aloft headset, you can’t afford to fly tbh
ExpressionCharming39@reddit (OP)
Oh I’m not using them to fly I’m merely using them to listen to music and stuff on the bus

Im actually surprised DC Wasn't able to help you out. Did they at least have a wiring diagram for you? that's at least half the heartburn
Worldly_Strategy3900@reddit
that sucks bro like how they gonna leave you hangin like that

no they sent me the headphone with a new box back which i had to pay $50 just to ship, so basically a $50 box is all

I strongly suggest that you call David Clark. I had a problem with a microphone once and sent it to them for repair. They fixed it and charged me the cost of parts. At the time, the headset was probably 15 years old. I think they refurbished the padding for free.
