What do you think about people from your country who date or marry foreigners?

I am frankly envious of the Bulgarian guys who landed foreign brides, whether they're from another Balkan country or not. If only I was so lucky! If they have children those kids will know 2 languages from the starts, also it must be fun to have a connection to two countries. I've always wished to have relatives somewhere abroad.
What about you?
trashdsi@reddit
I'm dating a Bulgarian lol
Royal_Cookie_043@reddit
dude, are u 19? Plus you sound like a social climber. In the same manner, if people were discriminating by where you're from, just like you do, why would anyone from Oxford be willing to marry you? Marry a person you truly love, not the idea of the exotic foreigner which will tie you to foreign lands lol.
Happy-Hour88@reddit (OP)
Are you a Brit? Brits are so appalled at social climbing beacause their social system is really caste-like and unfair, unlike the true freedom of places like America.
Royal_Cookie_043@reddit
Not a brit, babe, but your reasoning seems vain. You know you can move around and establish a life in the countries you mentioned? I doubt that America is your place as well lol
TurkOmbre@reddit
In Turkey, there is not a family that does not have a member from another country/national minority: Kurdish, German, Circassian/Tatar, Russian, Azerbaijani, Albanian, Macedonian, etc.

How come posts like this are allowed?

I'm dating a foreigner but its cuz we happened to get along well, not that i thought it's a way to go cuz he somehow appears "cooler" or "exotic" for being a foreigner. Lol.
Obviously, i think its fine for people to date foreigners..but i dont think its wise to chase after it for the reasons of thinking it will make you enviable and seemingly of a higher status or something..I'll also say that some of such couples may appear odd to me if they dont actually share a language in common..cuz i dont understand how are they able to upkeep a relationship without proper comminication between eachother.
So, i guess, if you're genuinely attracted to foreigners, be good at english or if theres a specific country/nationality you like, start learning that language as well, get in tune with their culture, visit the country occassionally..and/or overal travel more..and maybe also hang on foreign subs and forums as theres also a possibility to start chating with someone online..and if you happen to be highly religious and/or traditional, i'd suggest dropping the ball a bit on that onto more so chill attitude, as if not, the relationship likely won't work out anyway.

Most marriages end in divorce, and the children from such marriages often lack a sense of identity and don't know where they belong.
If the parents also have different religions, it's very difficult.
For example, a Muslim Bosnian, Kosovar Albanian, or Pomeranian with an American, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, etc., woman wouldn't last long (exceptions prove the rule).
It often works with Romanians, Hungarians, or Spaniards.

I married a foreigner another race and that was the biggest mistake of my life
Happy-Hour88@reddit (OP)
Was she from Asia?
Winter-Speech978@reddit
Yes
Weak_Minute_6745@reddit
"another race" 💀💀
Winter-Speech978@reddit
Yeah, its more racists of we see that all people look and think the same
Repulsive_Work_226@reddit
It is increasing or on social media seems so. Unfortunately women do get bad comments if they marry African or South Asian.
ZhiveBeIarus@reddit
Idc, not my business.
_Stalwart_@reddit
Same.
Substratas@reddit
I’m married to one and it’s the best choice I’ve ever made.
Scandinavian men are waaay better men than Albanian men, I can tell u that. Like, by a long shot.
writebyhand@reddit
I mean if they're all European, I don't see an issue.
Substratas@reddit
Interesting_Fig_7484@reddit
If they are european I don't care

Vel_isme@reddit
That's a weird post. Who cares who dates who as long as they're both safe and happy
Happy-Hour88@reddit (OP)
I care. I want to imporve my chances of avoiding marrying a Bulgarian. I deserve better.
Familiar-Custard-216@reddit
I am dating one currently, although I am technically the foreigner in this case since she’s the native in her country
Nobody cares. It’s bad however to judge people based on what ethnicity they are dating, both positively and negatively.
Happy-Hour88@reddit (OP)
Don't you get the "I bet you're with her for money/status" looks?
fatgirlcuddler@reddit
My neighbor, young blonde chick, has like 2 kids with a black dude but I NEVER see him around so whenever I see them I'm like
casual_philosopher02@reddit
it's irrelevant to me, as long as they are happy!
CasperGwamm@reddit
I don't concern myself with the lives of others.

Most of the times I dont have any thought or opinion except when I see some greek women marry men from some countries where I believe that they will most likely condemn themselves to a life of abuse and misery.
For example one of my acquintances who married an Afghan man or the aunt of a friend who married a Pakistani.
I am sorry but the cultural norms, the misogynism and the gender roles in these countries make them incompatible with the greek culture imo and these marriages are doomed to fail. And in both cases they did fail.
Ujemegaz@reddit
Good for them.
peev22@reddit
At least someone is having a life. Good for them.
Pretend-Marzipan7496@reddit
Im Greek Albanian married to a American Chinese man. Our kids will be so busy with languages I'm scared for them😂
Adorable-Ad-1180@reddit
You think women are the ones who choose, but it's quite the opposite. We're the ones who pursue them, and the gatekeeps of the relationship too. All they really get to choose is sex, everything else is pretty much up to the man. Im over simplifying but my point remains.
greekhop@reddit
Agree.
Arge_Deianira@reddit
It's normal to date anyone you like!
SpiritedAddition8206@reddit
I like it so much when the foreigner learns turkish and enjoys being in Turkey, it warms my heart. The opposite people I usually never see (presumably) since they most likely don’t live in Turkey. So very positive as long as they want to assimilate which from my experience has been the case but my pool is from people living in the country.
RougeBasic100@reddit
I don’t have anything against these marriages. I have one in my family. The only thing I noticed is that some tend to be explosive, basically like any other marriage, but in these cases the cultural differences and the fact that at least one of the partners lives far away from home tend to make it worse. Then there are many intercultural marriages that are going great, kids are bi- or tri-lingual, holidays seem to be focused on the countries of origin.
Montenegirl@reddit
I don't think about them at all. Good for them, I guess? Their business, not mine
FrothyEspresso@reddit
As long as they’re not hostile to Serbians, it’s fine. Otherwise I don’t support it.
ChrisRedfield696969@reddit
I dont care but I would also not encourage it
