I'm genuinely sad. My mother and I actually met him once two years ago in the food quart at our local Costco - it turns out he lived in my town. He approached us because he was fascinated with the design of my mother's key chain and he wanted to know if the Costco cookie was any good. He struck me as a very unique and creative guy who had never stopped being curious about the world, and he seemed very sharp and fit for his age. R.I.P.
Honestly, I don’t have high hopes. Say that sadly as a former card carrying member of the group of people who used to have all the action figures including the green tiger that smelled like moss lol. Here’s hoping I’m pleasantly surprised. I’d like to say Idris Elba will help but he played Roland in that piece of shit adaptation of my favorite book series-The Dark Tower so he ain’t no safe bet either…fingers crossed!
Thankful for his creation. It sparked countless hours of imaginative play for our generation. It makes me sad, however, that he made a fortune for Mattel and all they could muster was a $5000 donation- about two weeks worth of care at his facility.
To the man who gave us all The Power, you will be missed Roger. I hate the thought that if you got just 1% of the royalty you deserved, if you would still be with us. Thank you for all the memories and dreams you gave us Roger.
I met him once at a local comic Con many years ago. Him with a bunch of other artists and friends at the Con including myself and my family got to have dinner together. It was awesome. He told stories about the development of He-Man, working in the toy industry and more. It was quite the honor and I'm glad to have gotten a chance to meet him. I still have my He-Man alarm clock ⏰
Everyone should watch The Toys That Made Us on Netflix. There’s an entire episode about how He-Man came together and Roger is interviewed along with a lot of other folks. It’s great. The entire series is great.
RIP to the mam that created one of my first childhood cartoon and toy obsessions. Looking forward to the movie and the upcoming video game to hopefully get a shot of that sweet nostalgia.
I have a picture with a man in a (very good) Skeletor costume in a Shopko(?) circa 1985/6. I should see if my mom has it.

I made the same comment a while back when it was announced that he was ill and nobody noticed. Thanks for seeing me, Stranger.

Casting Idris Elba as Roland Deschain was a swing and a mjss for both the movie and the actor
He's a great actor, he just isnt Roland

Jared Leto’s skeletor would do it

So different from what happened in that movie Fanboys then?

Considering he thought Dolph Lundgren was too scrawny to play He-Man, I'm kind of hoping he didn't see the new one.

Sadly, he had dementia. His wife had to start a gofundme to help cover the costs of the care facility, which was a whopping $10k a month.

RIP Roger, but the Mark Taylor erasure irks me.
