Is there a new Eddie Haskell?

If I wanted to explain to my GenZ child that somebody was an exemplary young person in front of adults, but a real jerk to his peers, who would I compare him to in today’s world?

Who the hell is Eddie Haskell?
LadyNorbert@reddit
I take it you never watched Leave It to Beaver. Eddie was the frenemy of Beaver's older brother Wally. He was a total kiss-ass with adults, who generally thought he was wonderful, but was a bit of a bully with his friends and loved to harass Beaver and other younger kids.

Ward and June saw right through him.

No I’m Gen X. That show went off the air in the 50s or something.

The reruns were still on when we were kids.
joeyjoeskullcracker@reddit
It was produced from 1957-1963 but it’s pretty much always been on to see reruns.

I never saw an episode. I assume that none of the 3 channels I had aired it. I do remember the show but not the characters. I remember the dad’s name but only because of that joke. “Ward you were a little hard on the beaver last night”

Just show your kids a few episodes of Leave it to Beaver. It's still aired daily on MeTV.

It really holds up and it's more subversive than people expect. Great comedy. I've seen every episode.

Yes, he’s the 28 yo that just got hired to be my mid-manager at work. Everyone hates him cause he’s dishonest and a kissass. Senior management thinks he walks on water.

Yep, stupid autocorrect

Kanye? Kanye West? Like, back in the day? I'm so confused. LOL
Kooky-Ad1551@reddit
Certainly a jerk to his peers, wasn't he hanging with the Kardashians and getting along with them? It has to be someone famous for name recognition. This might not be my best take ever on Reddit.
Who's your new Eddie Haskell?
emiliethestranger@reddit
Oh, okay. The Kardashians are the adults in this scenario. It makes more sense now. 😁

How about call them Scott after my childhood friend who was like that.
Our mom's are still friends and my mom has suggested multiple times I call him up despite a collosal falling out when we were in high school and a few attempts on my part to reconnect.
I last heard from him in the early 90s, he called to try and sell me life insurance.
NateNMaxsRobot@reddit
The one I knew was Mike. We weren’t friends but our moms were good friends. He used to torture me by telling me about the hunting trips he and his dad took. Very graphic shit. We usually sat right next to each other in class at the beginning of the year because of our last names. My mom adored him and his mom was my teacher.

There is no universal media literacy anymore.

I have no idea what I'm talking about, but Clavicular sure seems like he'd fit the Eddie Haskell bill.
Apprehensive_Gap1055@reddit
This is exactly who I thought of! There’s a lot to choose from but currently he’s at the top of the heap
Jim_E_Rose@reddit
I think the actual answer is they are all Eddie Haskell’s. Being fake is the new genuine. They don’t know anything else. They can’t know anything else.
Apprehensive_Gap1055@reddit
For being annoying, currently that might be the clavicle guy but that could also just be my opinion of him
bendingoutward@reddit
I'm too deep in the code monkey pit. I see "haskell," I immediately start twitching.
JuJu_Wirehead@reddit
They have plenty of references for assholes today, most of the assholes today only suck up to "the adults" when they have to. So... I don't think they need an Eddie Haskell today when we got what we got going on right now.
MaximumJones@reddit
Wouldn't you need to know their GenZ references to even make the comparison?
