Help on deciding a CPU.

Hey all. Recently started to think of upgrading my 5700x to something better. Given the prices of DDR5 it kinda makes it hard unfortunately. I havent been following and CPU development in a long while thanks to AM4 and and have zero clue about what even intel has to offer nowadays. I was thinking of finding a 5700x3d or 5800x3d from second hand market but people being people most of them are tried to be sold at $700AUD lol.
So basically what are my upgrade paths considering my specs. Is ryzen 7000 series still viable, is Intel core ultra comparable to what AMD have, is it even worth upgrading etc.
Current Specs:
- MB: MSI Mortar B450m
- CPU: Ryzen 5700x
- RAM: 32 Gb DDR4 kit 3600mhz
- GPU: 5070Ti
- PSU: 850W Corsiar RMx

what res do you play at..
look at 5950x vs 5800x3d numbers at 1440p and 4k.. they trade blows depending on game. 5950x was going cheap on ali awhile back.. but thats probably over.
also look at 5700x vs 5xxxX3D and am5 X3D at 4k.. youll be surprised.
if youre a 1080p person.. i get it i guess.

I've heard that AMD will rerelease the 5800x3d soon (i've heard 2nd quarter this year but i'm not sure) so that would be your best option. The other upgrade options would all involve buying a new Mommyboard and DDR5 RAM (a good 32GB kit is over 400€ right now and that's too much if you'd ask me (not sure how much that is in AUD))

My only hope with that rumor is that it might decrease the second hand price lol. I have a feeling that it wont be priced well.

Yea that has me worried as well... but i doubt that it will be more expensive than a 7800x3d right? My guess would be 300€ max for the 10th anniversary 5800x3d at launch.

I'm guessing they'll take a note from the MSI RTX 5090 Lightning Z pricing ($5090) and charge $580 for it.

Dont give them ideas lol

Let's hope they don't XD

Without buying DDR5, there's not much room for improvement on your current setup. The 5700X3D and 5800X3D simply cost too much on the secondhand market to be worth the relatively small performance improvement over your current CPU.
There are rumors of AMD re-releasing the 5800X3D soon, but there are no guarantees and we don't know the pricing.
