Does anybody recognize the make or model?

It’s up for sale in my area but no info about it. 95% sure it’s a wooden cat rig but can’t tell anything more than that.

It looks like a Beetle Cat to me. There are many fleets of them in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I raced one as a kid in the 1960s and 70s

I think it is. The spars look like a gaff rig and the interior photos look similar.

measure it? get the length overall, the length at the waterline, measure the beam ( width), the length of the mast, try to estimate how much she draws ( depth), then compare your measurements to the class names you get given as responses to your post.

Don't buy it, that is boat shaped trash.
EXPERT_ID10T@reddit (OP)
Yeah, it’s too hard to tell from the photo what the actual condition is. The rub rails and spars definitely look like they’ve seen a number of seasons.
RedditIsRectalCancer@reddit
Yeah, you should buy it. 100%.

Nah, I know enough to know this is beyond my skills. Plus, I have too many projects as it and would probably end up in a shallow grave if I brought home another.

Are you sure? You can't tell from the photos, it's probably pristine. It's not even a project, just put it in the water and sail it.

I reached out to the owner and he sent photos of the interior. It was definitely protected over the years and while the varnish is worn in spots, it’s still glossy in others. It looks like it started its life as a wooden boat and someone fiberglassed at some point.

Uh, oh. Glassing over wood is a red flag. Usually done by someone not wanting to do proper maintenance or repairs. If done correctly it's a "just ok for ten+ years before a re-do" but, if done wrong for the wrong reasons... junk in a couple of years.
EXPERT_ID10T@reddit (OP)
I may actually be wrong. I didn’t notice it before but in the upper right corner of one of the interior pictures, it looks like the top edge of a liner.
Raneynickelfire@reddit
You can't determine that from the pictures posted my man.
RedditIsRectalCancer@reddit
You mean I can't tell from that picture of the wooden mast with the finish all destroyed by UV, soaked through with rain? The fuck I can't.
Bluesme01@reddit
I like it. It looks like it has had some love. If it is dry under the cover vs a foot of water go for it. The mast and boom are out of my skill set. Good Luck!
EXPERT_ID10T@reddit (OP)
Yeah, someone was definitely taking care of it. I reached out to the owner and he sent a few photos of the cockpit. It’s dry and looks like it’s in decent condition, definitely in need of a little TLC, but solid overall.
I would love to get it but like you, it’s a little outside my skill set and I have too many projects as it is. I think it’s an older Stur-Dee Cat or a Beetle Cat.
OddRoof5120@reddit
Where is it?
EXPERT_ID10T@reddit (OP)
Austin, Texas.
OddRoof5120@reddit
Grab it. Easy relaxed sailing. You cant go wrong unless it's rotted.
just_a_duderino@reddit
Cyclone 13?
EXPERT_ID10T@reddit (OP)
It looks like an older Stur-Dee Cat or a Beetle Cat. The hull is wood with a centerboard and I think someone fiberglassed the hull and the deck years ago.
gearboxlabs@reddit
Looks like the Blanchards they have at the Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle to me.

EXPERT_ID10T@reddit (OP)
I think it’s a Beetle Cat. The Blanchard looks too large and has a fixed keel.
