Is it possible to add a throttle?

Currently fixing up a carrera cross city ebike and was curious if it was possible to add a throttle to it? Its just a standard pedal assist bike currently

The correct answer is no. Almost all ebikes either come with pedal assist or pedal and throttle and the controller is set up for this. It has two different inputs, one for the PAS and one for throttle and they are NOT the same and if your controller doesn't have a throttle input you basically have to buy an entire kit to get this funcionality and its really not worth it.
But what you need to make it work is a controller with PAS/throttle input, a throttle, PAS sensor, Cabling, display. You don't need a battery or a motor, just make sure you buy a controlelr with the correct rating and output cable. The battery cable can esily be modified as its just +voltage and earth.
No I can't find these parts for you but any ebike shop can do it for an enormous amount of money.
Sell your bike and buy one with a throttle. Thats what I did and I don't regret it one second.

You'll need a new controller and most likely a new display

Could you direct me in the right direction on what to buy?

Instead of messing your ebike just get another one with a throttle. Theres too much work involve if you're just learning. If you still want to go this way amazon or aliexpress has controllers and screens. You have to find the right controller connector to your hub..but you also have to program the controller. As some of them dont come programmed.

Depends on the controller. Some lock out throttle input entirely, others just have the wire unused. Look up your specific motor/controller combo before buying anything.

Would i find the motor/controller number on the bike itself?
