If you could rename the Xennial generation, what would you call it?

I think Xennial (pronounced Zen-ee-uhl) sounds more like the microgen between Gen Z and Millennials than it does our microgen. I realize some pronounce it "eks-en-ee-uhl" and although that makes sense, it's not the correct pronunciation according to my Speak & Spell.

If you could rename our microgen, what would you call it?

Xennial is a great name. And, it’s eks-ennial, your Speak & Spell doesn’t understand portmanteaus.

No. Portmanteaus retain the sounds of their parent words.

Like Smog, Brunch, Infomercial, etc... I get that, but those spellings dont have a letter that changes pronunciation depending on where the letter is placed.

EXennial makes as much sense as EXylophone unless theres a hyphen after the X. If you pronounce it "Zennial" (like Xylophone) then it sounds more like a GenZ/Millenial mashup.

Maybe it's splitting hairs, but just something I noticed.

You can’t really use xylophone and other x words to compare with xennial. Those words are pronounced the way they are because of their specific components, not because there’s an inherent rule that x-beginning words always start with that sound. Xennial is a portmanteau, and is quite unique in its pronunciation. Being an outlier, or even entirely unique, doesn’t make it incorrect to pronounce as other portmanteaus.

Growing up we used to be called Gen Y. Then one day it was changed to Xennial. I'd like to go back to Gen Y.

Personally I like The Dysentary Generation. Most of us died from it at some point or another.
