Are people in your sub also this hypocritical when it comes to foreigners vs your country ?

r/Romania is infamous for this. They always claim that nothing good we do matters if we still have trouble with something else. Meanwhile if another country like say... Poland or Croatia or Bulgaria or even Moldova does something better than us suddenly the bad stuff doesn't matter anymore and they'll harp on endlessly about how they're a million times better than us and we're some backwards primitives can do nothing right.
Same with humor. They constantly bitch about Romanian humor being cringe or childish but then they go on and laugh at the cringiest and most childish jokes in the US

r/serbia is the most self deprecating place lol.
But i don’t think our humor is good actually. It’s just dark.
So i both laugh and cry in our subs.

As a diaspora Serb I am quite confused about the state of our sub. I understand the people want to protest but do I have to scroll for hours to be able to find just one non-political post?
The difference in browsing r/serbia and my home country's sub is insane, even when my home country is experiencing the election season, as it is right now.

I'd argue that people who are shut-ins have an easier time on Reddit due to minimal exposure (just text, no real identity,). This hermit-style life can lead to social disconnect, demoralization and various degrees of depression. And guess where all that depression manifests itself? Into posts, messages and so on.
Not to mention that shitting on yourself/country/sense of identity is a Balkaner's favorite sport.
Substratas@reddit
I prefer that kind of insecurity over the one manifesting as extreme nationalism, which is very common among Albanians.
Vihruska@reddit
It's the same for Bulgaria 🙂

Hey, you've adopted the Euro, unlike us, Romanians, that never do anything positive /s
Th3Dark0ccult@reddit
Nobody thinks it was a good Idea, so we don't see it as a positive.
TurdEye69@reddit
I think it was an alright idea. Has its positives and negatives. As of now the positives outweigh the negatives.
Th3Dark0ccult@reddit
I'm personally indifferent, but I've seen overall negativity towards us accepting the euro.
TurdEye69@reddit
Don’t forget there’s a lot of propaganda bots spamming online. We’ve got to ignore them.
ExoticAd7546@reddit
Many people view it as a positive
Anna_akademika@reddit
I mean having the euro has its cons as well so
ExoticAd7546@reddit
Not so much in our case as the lev was pegged to the euro anyways so we couldn't print it
gushi1-@reddit
Euro is outdated, need to use Crypto.
funstufffff@reddit
Same goes for Turkey.
ExoticAd7546@reddit
The biggest 'patriots' in Bulgaria get insta triggered and in fighting mode when you bring up ANYTHING positive about the country. Mostly people who are trying to put the blame on external factors instead of themselves and their decisions first to cope with their hardships in the present.
sheynzonna@reddit
Yes. It's redditor behavior.
Early-Show2886@reddit
Quite simply, because most people in all these subreddits aren't native to the country they supposedly represent. They're either 3-5 generations old in the diaspora living in English-speaking countries, or they're of Anglo-Saxon origin who have absolutely nothing to do with the subreddit. You can tell by the way they comment and ask questions. You can also see where the percentage of insights comes from. It's always primarily from the USA, Canada, Australia, and the UK. But hardly any, if any, from your Balkan country.
UsuallySus33@reddit
Yee thats every country..
Ujemegaz@reddit
No. We think we are the best, but have no will to do anything right. When God created the world and realized that Albania was the best country, he put Albanians to balance the ecosystem 🧿
Professional-Fee-488@reddit
You my mitomaniacal friend must be the most active schizophrenic on this particular subreddit. You pretend to be autochauvinistic in one post only to shift to pure perfidious nationalistic hatred aimed at every single albania's neighbor in the next one, claiming all and everything belongs and starts from you and belongs to only you, zero regards to actual history. What exactly is the goal here? Gaining karma from both sides in the most pathetic way possible? Is that really how you want to represent your country? You might want to remove that flair from your nick, you're embarrassing not only yourself but your countrymen as well.
TanktopSamurai@reddit
Some Turkish subs are incredibly racist while also very keen on complaining about racism they themselves faced.
