Add it the list.
The real kicker is if/when China pokes Taiwan.
moderate_ocelot@reddit
America is the warmongering despot nation, not China
androstaxys@reddit
And yet China has been developing amphibious assault ships and transports for years. Every western nation defence department predicts a Chinese invasion by 2027.
moderate_ocelot@reddit
Every western nation defence department is itching for war with Russia and China, lest they lose their grip on power at home.
Which country is forward deploying its navy and airforce off the others coast? Is it China? Oh wait no that is America
androstaxys@reddit
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-04-07/how-china-uses-civilian-ships-to-pressure-taiwan-without-firing/106410412
Look, I’m not defending the USA. They’re fucked and if anyone’s going to ruin the world it’s likely them.
That said, China IS 100% preparing, running sims, designing and building a fleet with the sole purpose of invading land they believe is theirs.
moderate_ocelot@reddit
Captured media from the imperial core is just ruling class propaganda.
What do you know about China that wasn’t told to you by western ruling classes
androstaxys@reddit
I could say the same about your thoughts of the US.
What war crimes have you personally witnessed?
I’m not sure 100% bias free media exists in the world anymore dude.
It’s not just Australia. Google it. China has released info about their plans. Russia has mentioned it.
Literally every defense department in the world knows and are each likely making plans to supply their own military in the event of the impending chip shortages.
FormerNeighborhood80@reddit
First I looked up “Black Swan” then I read the article. It is amazing to me that so many bad things can come out of this US Iran war. The fertilizer, Aluminum, oil and God knows what else. I sure wish Trump would have kept the treaty and gone about uranium enrichment problems another way.
thereadingbri@reddit
Helium. Very necessary coolant for microchip engraving and MRI machines. If they can’t refill it, neither can operate.
Hesitation-Marx@reddit
My husband has to get an MRI every few months to check for progression in his cancer. (He is doing well, knock on wood.)
To say I am incandescent with rage about this is an understatement.
Feisty-Bluebird4@reddit
Book mri’s in advance at facilities that have Philips BlueSeal or other new mri scanners that use 1% of the helium as traditional scanners.
Hesitation-Marx@reddit
Thank you so much. I’ll talk to the oncologist to see.
Leftoverofferings@reddit
They all preserve helium our GR scanners haven't lost any helium in 3 years. Back in the 90s we'd have to refill every 3 months.
Feisty-Bluebird4@reddit
Good to know, thanks for the details!
No_Possible_7108@reddit
Any chance you can visit a civilized country like Canada or Mexico to have his MRI done?
thiccDurnald@reddit
The issue is the helium isn’t getting out through the straight. It won’t matter where you go
IncomingAxofKindness@reddit

Whats the worst that could happen🧐
Hesitation-Marx@reddit
Well, it’s not hydrogen….
High_Quality_Bean@reddit
The USA has the largest helium stockpile AND untapped supply in the world right? Globally we might see a shock, but at least in America they'll br fine on that front. Right?
tazztsim@reddit
Even if we did have it. The unfettered capitalism wouldn’t do like India is doing with rice and keep a domestic supply. Oh no highest bidder shipped overseas screw Americans.
FormerNeighborhood80@reddit
Yes! I knew there was something else. Good grief

There was a reason why no one would attack Iran. And now we get to find it out in real time.
The great mass of the public still has no idea
burn_corpo_shit@reddit
Apparently a Black Swan event means we didn't see it coming... even though we claim saw it coming.
Is this a psy op?
Impossible_Range6953@reddit
It is not a black swan event only because tariffs impact on market prices started way before the war. You can say same thing with fertilizers and how we alienated Canada.
If you work in raw material sourcing and suddenly cannot guarantee delivery 6 months out with no alternatives...it is more like canary in mine event. 😂

Evil_Weevil_Knievel@reddit
Hmmm. Maybe pissing off Canada and having them sell their massive aluminum supplies elsewhere wasn’t a winning strategy. Weird…….
The_Vee_@reddit
I can't decide if they're trying to bring the country down, or if they just can no longer hide the fact it's going down.

When everyone else has less money, the oligarchs can scoop up more. It’s endless greed. Simple as that.
TexasRN1@reddit
And rebuild federal infrastructure’s as private equities.
cyanescens_burn@reddit
Yup, that’s how corporations are trying to take over democracy.
The_Vee_@reddit
They already have taken over Democracy. Especially since that 2010 Citizen's United ruling. They own all our politicians. They give money to both sides. Corporations don't care who wins an election because they already own them all.
cyanescens_burn@reddit
BTB podcast gets into how there’s evidence for this in the Epstein files. They intentionally stay away from the sex crime stuff in these, and look at his socioeconomic influence and there’s documentation of Epstein taking about it being easier to buy things up and take power when a country/region is crumbling.

Evil_Weevil_Knievel@reddit
My mind ran in circles for ages thinking about this. Looking for the deeper plan. The deep devious scheme that is taking place.
But I came to the realization that I don’t think there is any depth at all. There’s no plan. Trump tapped into a third rail electrified with a seething tide of the worst human instincts and emotions. Almost by accident. Now he’s just using this for grifts and to try and punish people doesn’t like. Other parasites are using the ensuing chaos to also enrich themselves.
That’s it. There just is no plan beyond this. No deep conspiracy.
This I find even more disturbing than if there was an actual plan.
cyanescens_burn@reddit
Here’s the technoneofeudalist plan:

Then there’s the Christian nationalist plan. You can get the gist of that by reading Matt Shea’s manifesto, or even just what they found when he got busted and the synopsis of his manifesto on the wiki page.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Shea
There’s some overlap the last decade or so, namely getting a right wing government in place to move many shared goals forward. Not sure if they’ll start infighting once their plans start to diverge, or if they’ll team up still, but I see significant ideological differences and diverging goals long term between these crowds.
Straight_Flan1347@reddit
There is 100% a plan, the technocrats like Thiel want to drive the state into failure so they can parcel out what's left and rule their little surveillance state fiefdoms. Curtis Yarvin has been the driving force behind this for 20 years, and Project 2025 was the end game.
The_Vee_@reddit
Yarvin is definitely part of the think tank. I agree, there's a plan and they divided us so we don't get in their way as they complete it.
s1gnalZer0@reddit
Their plan is they want the US to fail and they can sell what's left off to the highest bidders.
7nightstilldawn@reddit
It is a ‘winning’ strategy if the purpose of doing so was to push the US to not rely on foreign countries for rare earths, industrial, and precious metals. Doing so has put the US at a massive disadvantage. It’s existential.
The future of mining in the USA is very bright. Buy US based mining stocks, refiners, and smelters. #HYMC

And it's not like America could easily replace Canadian supplies. The reason Quebec is an Aluminum powerhouse isnt mining. It's because Quebec shits out cheap hydro electricity.

As a Canadian im not super hurt to see this headline. American attacks on our industry and way of life has left a super bad taste in my mouth. We can come back to the table..... for a better deal than before.
One_Dragonfruit_7556@reddit
Genuen question. Do Canadians know most of us don't support the orange mad man? I get we have to lie in the bed we made but like, most of us don't want the world hating us more
Justinrehp@reddit
Im sorry, thay just isn't good enough. "Most" of you just didnt do your duty and show up to vote then. He got elected because democrats just didn't think the election was important enough.
Samuraispirits@reddit
Exactly. Hungarians had a 80% turnout for their last election. Most Americans voted for Republicans too and they've been pretty much lockstep with Trump. Voting him in once, fine people can call that a fluke with the margin of 2016. Though after January 6th people voted him in again.
No_Possible_7108@reddit
Turns out fascist dickheads love voting for people who are also fascist dickheads
dittybopper_05H@reddit
Fascist dickheads interested in reducing the size and power of the government?
I mean, I recall being told by an actual fascist, the guy who *INVENTED* fascism, that it's "All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state."
Shutting down things like USAID and reducing the number of employees in other government agencies, to the point that the size of the federal government is now roughly what it was in raw numbers 60 years ago seems like the opposite of fascism to me. It's even more stark when you look at the number of government employees per 1,000 people.
It was 130 per 1,000 back in 1966. Today it's just 7.62 per 1,000
(yes, it's really 7.61605, I rounded up. What a coincidence.)
Actual for-real fascists grow government, they don't shrink it.
cyanescens_burn@reddit
We’re are watching the rise of authoritarianism in the US. Attacks on the media, free speech, and universities. Public/private partnership for AI mass surveillance that will make Stalin jealous. Ignoring court orders. There’s a movement to make an extreme form of evangelical Christianity the national religion, and build more laws that strip civil liberties around that. And private equity/venture capital is actively working to take over federal institutions and infrastructure, as well as financial/banking systems to take de facto control, and they will not be held to any account by the public, but will essentially act as monarchs over fiefdoms.
dittybopper_05H@reddit
Authoritarianism by a greatly reduced government?
Isn't that kind of the opposite of how authoritarianism works?
No_Possible_7108@reddit
However you prefer to label them, they are still dickheads that voted for a bunch of dickheads at the end of the day. The main point is that they all live to see people being hurt
dittybopper_05H@reddit
Well, you’re literally using words you don’t know the meaning of because they sound bad to you.
Thats very Trump-like of you.
No_Possible_7108@reddit
Ok, I actually just didn't feel like arguing with you. You are wrong and therefore are very trump-like.
Let's look at the 14 signs that people use to tell if a government is becoming fascist:
1.The cult of tradition. “One has only to look at the syllabus of every fascist movement to find the major traditionalist thinkers. The Nazi gnosis was nourished by traditionalist, syncretistic, occult elements.”
This one is true, they want to go back to the 1950s, hence the surge of "trad wives" and some people, like Alito, would prefer going even further back to the 17th century.
2.The rejection of modernism. “The Enlightenment, the Age of Reason, is seen as the beginning of modern depravity. In this sense Ur-Fascism can be defined as irrationalism.”
This one is true, hence all the crying about "woke" and other nonsense, instead compelling people to turn back toward religious heritage.
3.The cult of action for action’s sake. “Action being beautiful in itself, it must be taken before, or without, any previous reflection. Thinking is a form of emasculation.”
Yep, this one is true too. Maga literally prides themselves on being ignorant. They try to stifle education by turning to the classic book bans. If you pause to think critically about something, you are called "woke".
4.Disagreement is treason. “The critical spirit makes distinctions, and to distinguish is a sign of modernism. In modern culture the scientific community praises disagreement as a way to improve knowledge.”
This one is blatantly true because Trump and the Republicans have been stifling disagreement by sueing and/or investigating any person or company whose views don't match up precisely with theirs.
5.Fear of difference. “The first appeal of a fascist or prematurely fascist movement is an appeal against the intruders. Thus Ur-Fascism is racist by definition.”
Do I really need to say how true this one is? They spend all of their time full of fear and hatred toward minorities, non-maga, LGBT, etc.
6.Appeal to social frustration. “One of the most typical features of the historical fascism was the appeal to a frustrated middle class, a class suffering from an economic crisis or feelings of political humiliation, and frightened by the pressure of lower social groups.”
Again, true. "The price of eggs are so high!!" "The radical left is just mocking us!"
7.The obsession with a plot. “Thus at the root of the Ur-Fascist psychology there is the obsession with a plot, possibly an international one. The followers must feel besieged.”
True again. Pizzagate, QAnon, Dems running secret child eating cults etc etc. They've decided anyone not like them are devil worshippers.
8.The enemy is both strong and weak. “By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.”
Very true for this one. The Democrats are so weak and powerless they can never accomplish anything, yet are still somehow how capable of destroying the country through their policies.
9.Pacifism is trafficking with the enemy. “For Ur-Fascism there is no struggle for life but, rather, life is lived for struggle.”
True. This is why maga harps on America's military power so much and always talks about their guns and crap. This is why they join militias.
10.Contempt for the weak. “Elitism is a typical aspect of any reactionary ideology.”
True yet again? Everyone they hate are "snowflakes" and are beneath them, despite them being the ones perpetually upset over one thing or another. It is part of why they want women and LGBT people out of the military and positions of power like the police force. To maga, these people are weak and inferior to macho manly men such as themselves. Also, this is why trump calls prisoners of war and military killed in battle weak and useless.
11.Everybody is educated to become a hero. “In Ur-Fascist ideology, heroism is the norm. This cult of heroism is strictly linked with the cult of death.”
Yuuuup. They think they are all big badass heroes that will save the world from the evil "woke". They literally worship trump as their god-king. For example, look up the golden idol they made of trump.
Lol do I really need to answer this one? They are all about manly heroes like The Punisher, even though they have no idea what he stands for - they just like the skull logo and that he kills people. Let's not even get into the borderline fetish they have with their guns.
Yep once more! Maga follows their emotions and treat everything they have decided as the word of God. If you aren't maga you are a "snowflake" that is un-american and is trying to ruin America.
14.Ur-Fascism speaks Newspeak. “All the Nazi or Fascist schoolbooks made use of an impoverished vocabulary, and an elementary syntax, in order to limit the instruments for complex and critical reasoning.”
Yup yup yup! Fox News is the primary mouthpiece for and provide of news to maga, despite having argued in court that they are an entertainment channel and not an actual news channel - and that nobody in their right mind would actually believe they were an authentic news channel. This point is also a big reason why they ban any books they don't like and they actively try to destroy systems of education they don't like, accusing them of being "woke" or pushing some sort of agenda. A dumb population is an easily controllable population.
- As you can see, trump and maga meet all 14 of the signs used to determine if a country is sliding into fascism. It has absolutely nothing to do with the size of the government.
Maybe you should consider learning what a word means before you go around accusing people of not knowing what they are talking about. That is very hypocritical and trump-like of you!
Below I have provided you with some resources for learning what fascism actually is, from people that are undoubtedly more well-spoken than I am:

When was the last fascist who stepped down because they were voted out of office?
Be honest: You call Trump and his supporters fascists and Nazis and Hitler because it makes it easier on your conscious when one of your compatriots kills them. "Well, he/they had it coming...".
And of course, the constant hammer of your name-calling actually encourages the 4th standard deviation wackos on your side to act. Though looking at the latest suspect, I thing it's closer to 3rd standard deviation.
No_Possible_7108@reddit
That's rich coming from the side actually killing people.
Stepped down from office? You mean "mister third term in 2028 even though it's illegal"?
I just showed you are falling for fascism and this is your response? Lol
Trump has spent the last year and a half making everything so expensive nobody can even afford to eat and now he wants you and I to pay for some stupid damn ballroom while he gives literal trillions of dollars to the military to drop bombs on schoolgirls? WHY? How you liking those fuel prices these days?
You know what, I am actually just going to block you before I say something extreme enough I get banned from this lovely community. I ain't got time for people that get their rocks off watching immigrants get thrown into literal concentration camps.
You have a blessed day, mister dittycultist.
Please don't expect anyone to forgive maga for all of the horrible shit they helped enable, like the destruction of America and it's federal programs including all of the national parks that he is selling off to loggers and oil drillers.

Werent you guys about to elect your own Trump with PPP until you were able to see how bad trump was fucking everything up? Without trump as a catalyst for change, you guys would be in a somewhat similar situation, no? I saw Canadians call PPP "our trump" more than a few times
Justinrehp@reddit
Pierre Pollievre almost got elected because there was no other viable option compared to Justin Trudeau who was dragging Canada into the depths. Trudeau only made policy based on vibes, environmental and social justice directives which left the economy on shambles.
One_Dragonfruit_7556@reddit
That's a fair point
Lone_Vagrant@reddit
I think what most of the world hate about American people is how you guys let this buffoon become president again. Most do not hate American people themselves.
iridescent-shimmer@reddit
Totally agree with what Canada is doing and I hope people continue to boycott/cause pain for the US, because people here need to fucking learn. But also...it's worth a gentle reminder that republicans in positions of power did their damnest after 2020 to lock down their red states that "misbehaved" by voting for Biden for getting too close for comfort. They purged voter rolls, redistricted areas to capture a chamber of Congress, and Trump stacked the Supreme Court in his last term. The 2024 election came down to like 500,000 votes across a handful of states in a country of 330,000,000 people. It wasn't a huge landslide, though I know it doesn't matter because the damage is done anyway. Just sucks all around.
UwUHowYou@reddit
I mean, enough that he got elected and yes it wasnt 50% +1
However, this doesnt change the decades long fight against our softwood Lumber, our dairy supply management (and yes, Canadian dairy is more expensive, but many of us do not want the things they put in american dairy) etc.
Trump is the latest, but Biden launched many such attacks, Obama did some too. They were just less antagonistic and global about it.
I don't see why things get better when Trump leaves office, the US administration is chalk full of people who support these motions.
realjamesvanderbeek@reddit
Yet he won in the election, meaning more people voted for him. So for average American that voted Democratic, that sucks. For the apathetic and republicans, you chose this.

It’s the outright insults and blatant threats to our sovereignty that I think a lot of folks really don’t get. Tariffs aside. We don’t find trump amusing. We don’t just think “oh that’s trump just being trump”.
We are seething with anger and I don’t think a lot of people down south really get it. I’ve never saw Canadians this angry about anything and it’s not going to go away for a long long time.
MurkyCartoonist9944@reddit
Honestly most Americans have no desire to annex Canada. We like Canada. We're looking forward to the next presidential election.
YellowCabbageCollard@reddit
I think a lot of us get it. I never found it remotely funny, "just Trump" or anything but absolutely enraging that he would threaten Canada like that. I took it to be a direct threat and not a joke. And I wouldn't trust him or the US govt still if I were Canadian.
The US govt is currently acting like they can do whatever the hell they want to any country, laws, morals or integrity be damned. Someone is viewing Canada as just potential resources for the wars they were already planning to engage in. This was all planned and there is no telling what's still being planned.
Evil_Weevil_Knievel@reddit
I know a lot of you do. But you just see all these dying boarder towns on TV that depended on tourism. A lot then voted trump and they are trying to “welcome Canadians back” without really understanding what the big deal was in the first place. It’s totally lost on them.

For what it's worth, a lot of Americans feel the exact same way.

I've always thought that JIT manufacturing was a bad idea, going all the way back to my introduction to the idea in the 1990's when I worked as a programmer/analyst at a fabric manufacturer.
It is very efficient cost-wise, assuming there is no disruption in the supply chain, but there is always the possibility of supply chain disruptions though both natural and man-made causes. When that happens, you're screwed if you don't have enough supply on hand to last out the issue.
It's absolutely *INSANE* for a military organization to work that way: For at least a year the entire U-boat fleet of the German Bundesmarine was out of service for months because they relied on JIT:
https://www.defensenews.com/naval/2017/10/20/all-of-germanys-submarines-are-currently-down/
Navy officials blame bottlenecks in the procurement of spare parts for the submarines’ downtime. While a comprehensive package of spare parts was a key aspect of any new acquisition during the Cold War, cost-saving measures adopted since then have resulted in parts no longer being kept in reserve, German Navy spokesman Capt. Johannes Dumrese told the newspaper group SHZ.

The crazy part is just in time inventory never makes financial sense if you look at the business in a 10-15 years timeline.
You lose all ability to leverage your pricing in hopes that you outlay less money now, no major disruptions, and have the arrogance to believe it gives you the magic ability to time the markets.
I'm making a long term plan and running the business on longer timelines will always beat just in time.
Just in time was created by some college educated employee minded person to justify their job/role on a management team. Its a short cut to thinking
FinallyRage@reddit
Fun fact about JIT, when Toyota implemented this in the 50/69s, it wasn't JIT from manuf to manuf. They still had storage warehouses where they would buy bulk products and store them, they just shipped from the distro to the facility JIT to keep facility inventory low.
This got taken and abused by other manufacturers to be let's buy the least amount of an item and store the least amount at any time so that we save inventory and storage costs. This can lead to production issues if a product goes missing and a lot of emergency orders (I've seen helicopters drop off product in a parking lot just to have a part that's needed).

Didn't Anthropic have to roll back one of their recent updates after realizing it could breach systems better & faster than the best human hackers out there? I saw some tech blogger trying to sound the alarm on it recently & they said OpenAI isn't that far behind Anthropic development-wise & if their system gains the power to hack into stuff as easily as Claude can, we're all screwed because Sam Altman has no moral conscience & will let people use it with reckless abandon. If anything can destroy the crypto market whatever block chains these people have their livelihoods attached to, I think ChatGPT could soon make a solid effort. Also, it would be hilarious. (Maybe not for the regular folk who gambled their savings, but you should have invested in something tangible, sorry.)
Boring-General-1816@reddit
Yes an AI used to analyze for zero day exploits. This was attempted before but it came up with like 100 exploits where only 3 were plausible. This one came up with thousands with Claude and a majority of them worked. Imagine that, a machine that can understand machines and control and understand them down to the hardware level. Now think about how everything runs on AI or hasn't been updated security wise, now think about when quantum computers reach that level of bitcoin cracking, now think about putting AI in drones. EVERYTHING will get hacked down to your toothbrush that requires a Bluetooth connection. TR-3B connected to AI is game over, better disconnect all your circuit breakers. Your TV reverses the use of the speaker as a microphone and hears you even though you're trying to be quiet, an advanced drone ship pops up, your house explodes, and it warps off.
This sounds like their fake alien invasion bid.

The US is. I'm sure more are not really acknowledging the reality that's coming.
keepitfriend@reddit
Our newspapers are daily explaining the earthquakes hitting the Us economy, the strait is only the start of it.
Why is no one talking about private equity in the US? US banks have expanded 12 times larger than their European equivalents in the last decade. This isn’t down to rampant growth, it’s due to whatever is going on in this strange industry that no one has good data on.
Now add that on top of the mental levels of investment in AI? With now more than 50% of data centers in the US stalled.
Mostly our govenments are trying to explain how exposed we are to this tsunami of risk from the US
DieselPunkPiranha@reddit
Because many companies and industries no longer conduct long-term risk analyses. Used to be they all did and would have lobbied against what's happening now.
Instead, they know that whatever profits they think they're losing will be subsidized by customers and the government alike. In fact, less production offset by bailouts and higher pricing is a net win for them because less production means less resources spent and less workers needed.
Youcants1tw1thus@reddit
Major corporations only exist bailout to bailout. That’s the strategy, do nothing for financial security and cry “we’re too big to fail” with your hand out when you’re failing. Looking at you spirit airlines…

We're rewatching BBC's Wartime Farm. I keep thinking we're heading that way here in the US, except with more starving because rationing would never happen here nowadays.
IAmGreenman71@reddit
I just watched that whole series. I don’t feel any more prepared, but I was thinking the same thing. Only thing I feel is differently is that the”I’m doing this for the love of my country” is less and I’m doing it so my family can survive the government actively trying to make my life worse.
cyanescens_burn@reddit
Yeah the Vietnam War era really did a number on the trust Americans had for their government, and it’s never really recovered since (maybe gotten worse).
Alecto7374@reddit
That whole family of shows(Edwardian, Victorian farm) is amazing! Highly recommend.
BigWhiteDog@reddit
Love those but not sure I've seen the war time one. My partner is an Anglophile that lived and worked in the UK for a time doing living history at Kentwell hall so we are into that sort of programming.

It's free on youtube
BigWhiteDog@reddit
Yep. Started it tonight. My partner says we've seen it before but before COVID.

I actually saw something saying rationing is already happening: buy limits from stores. That's a form of rationing so not as far-fetched
davidm2232@reddit
Buy limits from which stores? I have not seen anything. The only one I have seen is for Busch Light Apple at certain beverage stores but people were hoarding it and not letting anyone else get any. Not really rationing imo.

For quite a while after covid, Costco had a limit of two packages of toilet paper per person

Maybe, but don't think it will happen fast. The profits need to be there before anyone does it at scale.
FatherOften@reddit
So many companies dont plan long term anymore.
I started my commercial truck parts business and had 2 multibillion dollar manufacturing competitors that controlled the global market.
Pre Covid hitting my factories wete calling from China talking about tons of sick people, people dying. We sunk everything I could beg borrow or leverage into inventory. It arrived Jan 2020.
March rolls along and shut downs start. Both of our competitors went to skeleton crews, inventory was just in time, raw materials were just in time. Costs went up, their 30-40% margins took a huge hit.
We went from 4-5 figures recurring revenue to 7 figures. My 86% net margins were still doing fine.
They figured Id fold first being the only importer. 2021 high 7 figures, 8 figures every year since. Possibly 9 figures this year.
Just before Trump 2.0 we dropped $25M on an inventory order. Arrived just before the tariffs went from the 2018 25% to 150%. Our margins stay the same. 1 competitor bought the failing other. Now just 2 of us.
I overstocked this year with 9 months extra inventory, and have 2 more shipments arriving May and June with another 12-13 months worth.
Competitor....costs are climbing, and their margins are down to around 25-30% even with 5 price increases. All the customers from the aquired company are bleeding into us. Our price is the same it was 10 years ago, except for a 7% increase from Jan. We are 50-60%+ less on price, higher quality product, consumable, required, and almost universal commercial truck parts that are on every truck on the planet.
I see going into the 9 figures this year. Not because of the numbers today, but Q3, Q4 is going to gut their business. They did not plan in trade wars because they are American made, they did not plan on hot wars affecting raw materials supply chains. They did not plan for the upcoming recession and public purchasing power to tank.
Ill keep the trucks running and I will keep my prices where they are now.
4Yk9gop@reddit
They greatly underestimate the U.S. soda/pop and beer can reserves.
Own-Swan2646@reddit (OP)
Yea IDK, worked at Pepsi they had maybe a day or two run time out in the yeard. And out in the wearhouse maybe a week or two. Not in a small market so don't think it's as deep as you think. They will just pass the costs on. And see sales dip. But making the can smaller will not change the amount of aluminum used by much from what I learned they use the same cans for a long time for 8oz cans as 24oz cans just worked them more.
UwUHowYou@reddit
Changing the can size would be likely a monumental tooling, packaging and production shitshow.
Its not impossible but I got a strong feeling that its not worth it.
nibbles200@reddit
if they were to consider going through that effort they would move off aluminum.
4Yk9gop@reddit
I was mostly joking about my fellow Americans.
Own-Swan2646@reddit (OP)
My bad ... Came off a different discussion... Took you comment wrong.
melympia@reddit
Huh? Shrinking the cans should increase the amount of aluminium used per volume (per gallon) of drink sold.

Wait… the US still has manufacturing?

I mean... I guess define "manufacturing".

Canada can come to the rescue drop the tariffs problem solved
Onlyroad4adrifter@reddit
Canada should not. The US voted for this. Midterms will not save the US from making the the same mistake twice and another time again in the future.
DieselPunkPiranha@reddit
Been making the same mistake for a lot longer than that. Carter might be the only president who didn't send our troops to die or start coups overseas. Until folks begin to recognize that the USA was designed to do exactly what it's doing, it will only get worse.
stu54@reddit
Manifest destiny baby!
s1gnalZer0@reddit
They could but why would they? They could swoop in and rescue US manufacturing and once everything is back to normal trump would turn around and fuck the Canadians over without thinking twice about it
DieselPunkPiranha@reddit
The US would sooner invade Canada for those resources.

Good. I'm ready for this house of cards to come crashing down now. I am beyond sick of everyone pretending everything is A-OK and the US economy is just fine... I feel like the economy is a long line of dominos that started falling months ago, and the end of the domino chain is a button that blows up the stock markets and basically the entire US economy.
The US will be no better off than Russia in a few years time...

I will second this. It's tiring waiting for the other foot to fall. I don't want things to get bad, I want to be able to look forward to the future. But I feel like things need to get bad to really wake people up. We can't keep going on and on like this, something has got to give.

Ummm aluminum is used all over the place. So no, do with the info as you will but it will have a ripple effect on may things I will buy as factors change. Think past the one thing you call aluminum.
